Telemarketer
I just had a call from this number.  She said she was with Verizon Wireless and wanted to go over my account to see if she could save me money.  THAT sounded fishy so I told her no thanks.  I told her to put me on her do not call list and hung up.  After I looked up the number and found all of this I decided to block the number myself using a feature on my iPhone.  If you have an iPhone you can block them too.  Just pull up your recent calls list and touch the "i" on the listing for that number. That opens the listing for that call.  Scroll down to the bottom and there's an option to "Block this caller".  It works every time!  Telemarketers get through to me only ONCE!!  :-)

This is Verizon. They are "reviewing" your plan in order to see if the one you have is working best for you. Not a big deal so call them back and they should leave you alone. They are persistant if they do not hear from you. It took me about 2 minutes and the lady I spoke with was really nice. I hope this is helpful.

You probably got the same guy 3x in a row cause it's a call center environment.  So if a call is less than 1 - 1.5 minutes long, then that rep gets the next call that comes in.  It's all based on who's next in line to get a call and if their call was too short, they get the next incoming call.    Yes, by all means.  Getting their calls is extremely annoying.   The contract on all my lines were up 01/2012 and they keep calling and sending me mail promos....Get $19.99 credit on primary line and go into another 2yr contract.   ?!?!!?!??!???   Are you kidding me?  Why do want to go into a contract, lock myself into not having flexibility to move to another carrier or surrender my upgradeability for 2yrs?  And all you give me is $19.99?   How about give me 6 months free svc on my entire acct and then I'll consider putting one of my lines on a contract.

As previously reported by others, the calls are from a third party agent for Verizon Wireless. In my case they have been calling 3 times a week since I started keeping track on Feb. 20, 2009.

I contacted Verizon Wireless (who I do have an account with) at 800-922-0204 and told them the issue. They placed me on there do not call list and said it would take 10 min. to be active.

since that call I received two more calls from their agent (the ones who keep calling from the 866 number) and I called them back.

Them:  May I have your phone number
Me:  Why do you keep calling me three times a week.
Them:  Is this Mr. xxxxx
Me:  See, you didn't need my phone number

Well it went down from there. I told them I had already contacted Verizon Wireless to complain and be placed on the companies do not call list. The 866 person claimed it would take 30 days I said Bull I was told it would take 10 min.

I told them to google their own number to see the number of complaints they are generating.

I then informed them that if I am contacted again, I would file complaints with the FTC, BBB, State Attorney General, and contact Verizon Wireless saying that they will be losing a customer at the end of my contract specifically because of this agent.

We will see what happens.

Being on the DNC list does not "save" you from people who you have an existing business relationship with. Yes it is a telemarketing call. Yes they are authorized to call you. Getting removed from Verizons DNC list does not save you from the vendors list.
It is not a scam. Verizon hires a company to manage their call centers, and that is one of the call centers call you. They have access to your account information and can make changes should you wish to accept the offers. The offers arent available in a store or online.. Its a special deal, it is up to you to except it..
Hrrm renew the agreement? Early renewals come with no penalty. Were you already going to? Then you can take advantage or free months or service or 100 minutes, nice deals if you ask me.

Btw people make me laugh when they say Verizon doesnt make you verify the last 4 digits of the social, yes they do, and as a customer ive done it several times with customer service

This number calls at least 5 times a week.  I answered once and they said I was going over my text message usage and should upgrade my account.  I have had the same plan for 4 years and never gone over my allowed texts.  I keep telling myself I am going to report the number because it must be a scam, but I never do.

I called the number back three times and got the same guy ...Jerome Morelle from Verizon Wireless. There is no way you get the same guy three times in a call center. This is a scam.

Just program the number into your cell phone with the name
"Do Not Answer". 1-866-259-3883
Then save it to your cell phone book.
The next time they call, you cell will display the name
"Do Not Answser"
Now you have a reminder NOT to touch the phone.

If you receive a pre-recorded message from this number, hit (3) on your phone number pad - this will delete your number from their records, or so that is the response indication I received.  Good Luck!

This number called my phone this morning.  I didn't answer.  I called back after looking up the number and finding info on 800notes.com.  They are calling on behalf of Verizon.  We do have a Verizon account however the account is in my Husband's name with me as an authorized user.  They called MY phone even though he's had this account for 6+ years and except for today his is the only number Verizon has ever contacted about any "Verizon" issue, not me.  Lady got crappy saying I wasn't on the account and that she needed to speak with him not me. Had all of his billing info to boot which concerned me greatly. Handed the phone to him, and told him not to agree to anything until I called Verizon.

It turns out they are affiliated with Verizon and that they are calling to upgrade or renew your contract.  From what Verizon told me  the calls are made by "auto dial" and for some reason they called my phone instead of his.  The young lady I spoke with at Verizon went ahead and put both of our numbers on the DNC list on their end for soliciting phone calls so that takes care of that.

The DNC list from my understanding won't work if you actually have a Verizon account.  If you do and they keep calling you, just call Verizon's Customer Service and tell them to put you on their DNC list for soliciting.  Hope that helps.

Calling my home number daily this past week, but they DO leave a message. I can do custom call routing with my VoIP service, so I now route their call to the Verizon Wireless Sales 800 number.

Snicker, snicker.

When they figure that out and start calling my cell phone, I will be ready with the threat "The next time you call me, I will cancel and sign up for an I-phone!".
