It is Discover Card and you need to call them directly at 1-800-347-2683 and tell them to remove your phone # from their Robo lists and then I would suggest to contact the Federal and State Attorney General, the President and then your Sen. and Congress to let them know that they need to have these Companies stop these practices of harassing robo calls.
Don't call 1 866 290 4961 number that has been calling you, because they can't do a thing.

Tele-abusers have called my house from 1.866.290.4961 a dozen times since the first of December 2009. They neither leave a message on the answering machine nor answer when I pick up the phone. I have called them to demand that they desist calling; they advise me that it will take 30 days. I think it may be appropriate to contact both the FCC and FBI to report these calls as harassing and stalking.

I called the phone number back. It is discover card advertising. I told them to take my name off of their list in as nice of a tone as i could even though i wanted to ring their neck. And they said they would. It took maybe 20 seconds.

Just opened an account about 4 months ago, make payments on-time, every-time. Calling about 5x a day for the last 2 weeks "as a courtesy call". When I answer or try to call back, they verify me as a user and then say they cannot talk to me since my husband is the primary holder! He works all day and doesn't have time to take these solicitation calls. I even looked on our account page on their website and there is no option to select to stop these calls. I am tempted to cancel our card due to all the calls! Very disappointing and annoying...

Discover calls a minimum of 3 times a week trying to sell my wife more "services". I have asked them not to call. They tell me their business is with her, not me. She has asked them not to call. They ignore the requests. We no longer answer any call originating from any area code beginning with an 8 that does not identify who they are on the caller ID. But, it is still very irritating when I hear that phone ring and see this number on my caller ID. I have even been told by them that they can continue calling as long as my wife has her Discover account. .....I sure wish we could pay it off.

Many calls, no message, no company identification. If it's a credit issue, they are calling the wrong person. My finances are in order.
Debb 2011-06-06 21:01:25 Unknown
Many calls from this number, today they picked up when I answered and said they were from Breast Cancer Awareness....I hung up. They are just scam artists.

This number calls our home up to 6 & 7 times a day and we want it stopped. We don't answer the calls but when cking the caller id and seeing the repeated calls and all the interruptions of our privacy is annoying.

It is Discover Card, so I called it back and hit 1 or 3 and I got an agent and told them that they are to stop calling and NOW, because they have been calling 7x's a day for a week and this was harassment, and I have the caller id record showing this and to remove me NOW and stop calling me. They called back again with in an hour, so I called them back again, and said this was total harassment, and if they called 1 more time further actions would be taken. They finally stopped. I bet it will start all over again when they have a new offer. Please take the steps and hopefully they will stop calling. I mention for them to email me or write me, but not to call anymore. Even if you have blocking capabilities their system doesn't get it or understand it like other services do and those other services will just stop calling. Yeah for them.

Ed 2011-06-06 21:01:25 Unknown
this number is from Discover Card trying to sell product.
Jon 2011-06-06 21:01:25 Unknown
Like others have said, it is from Discover Card. It does not matter if you are on the Do Not Call List or not- businesses are allowed by law to make soliciting phone calls if you are already doing business with them, ie, if you have a Discover account. If you do not, then the call is illegal (provided you are on the list), and can actually take legal action. I suspect most of us getting the call do have a Discover account, though.
In any event, just call the number back during their business hours (I don't remember exactly what they are, but they're pretty standard business hours), and ask them to be removed from the calling list. It's as simple as that. You've obviously been placed on a calling list. If you never pick up the phone or you never call them back, they'll never know that you don't want to be called. Grow a pair, and tell them to shove it (politely, of course) and they'll leave you alone. Common Sense 101.

angry 2011-06-06 21:01:25 Unknown
The caller asked for my wife, she is the primary card holder on our Discover account. When I informed him that I was also on the account and asked what I could help him with, he stated that he was with Discover and that there was nothing wrong with the account and that the call was for her benefit. I said "ok great, what can I do for you." Then I heard a dial tone.
When I tried to call the number back, I got a prerecorded voice mail. Second call back the same. The third call back however, was the same man's voice with a message that sounded an awful lot like him talking live and not a prerecorded message. I immediately reported it to Discover's fraud department.

This is Discover Card. Go to their website, under privacy policies, and there's a number to call to have them quit calling.
