Received letter from Publishers Clearing House today saying I was 3rd prize winner in Martha Stewart Living Drawing. An official looking check for $5340.00 accompanied the letter.  A paragraph in the letter says "Publishers Clearing House will make all necessary arrangements in order for you to receive your prize.  Enclosed in this letter is a certified check to cover any outstanding fees that has not been paid by PCH directly."  In Red letters I am to call Mr. Larry Wiseman 1-888-623-2146 Ext.#1 before I deposit the check.  A security code was also inclosed with The Internal Revenue agent handling my file is Mr. Arthur Pierce 1 514 568-5299.  Cathy Stewart CFO signed the letter.  Is this the same scam  from Mr. Redpath?  Lynn (Michigan)

I also received a check in the amount of $5,889.00. The check appears as follows:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Capitol Lounge                     National Capital Bank       5***8
231 Pennsylvania Ave Se                316 Pennsylvania Ave Se
WASHINGTON, DC 20003-1107              Washington, DC 20003-1146

The bottom number shows an account number and routing number as follows:
{51538}  {054000056}    {10085073}
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I didn't even bother to call as I am sure it is a scam. The envelope says it is from:

De Partout jusQu'a Vous)))))))))
From anywhere to anyone)))))))))
08 08 08 19:21 H4T 1Ao 114))))))

The stamp is from Canada.

It comes with a letter that says it is from the Publishers Clearing House

Then it says it is from the Martha Sterwart Living Magazine
It says to contact Mr. Harry Redpath. 1-888-715-6658 X 1

My thoughts on this is that the cons are trying to clear out our bank accounts with this check.

I hope the information I posted is helpful. I doubt that the Government in its dire need of money would send me a check this high for me to cash in.

Recieved letter from "Publishers Clearing House" With a number for Harry Redpath.

Same Scam as OP. Martha Stewart third place winner.

Check was from Crane Trucking 22904 W Southern Ave Buckeye, AZ 85326, in the amount of $5,340.

Bank was National Bank of Arizona, 23359 S. First st San Luis, AZ 85349

SCAM.

"Harry" tells you to cash the check, then have $3000 ready for the prize team, who will conviently arrive the next day. (giving you no time to insure the check clears, I guarantee it won't)

Did not receive the call from the above listed number, but DID receive the letter, supposedly from Publishers Clearinghouse, along with what appeared to be a certified check in the amount of $5,889. Check looked authentic in every way, complete with hologram and other check security features, actual signature, etc. Payer of check was P & K Products Co., 2000 Fox Lane, Elgin, Illinois, drawn on the First American National Bank, 101 East Main St., Jackson, Tennessee. First name of signatory is hard to make out, but last name is "Hill". The letter stated that I had placed third in the "Martha Stewart Living Magazine" Sweepstakes, and that third prize was for a total of $1 Million.
