It was a Wells Fargo representative doing an employment verification.

I've received two calls from this number.  Fist call they stated they were Wells Fargo and needed a self-employment verification for one of my clients.  Next call they stated they were Prosperity Mortgage and needed a self-employment verification for one of my clients.  Don't give these clowns any information.

Make sure to request that any information that they need be put into writing and mailed to you.

Had a message on my work voice mail for a VOE. The guy spoke so fast that I could hardly understand him. I tried calling back but only got a busy signal. Then I Googled out of curiosity and found this post. I will not knock myself out trying to return the call now.

I got a call from this number at 9:16 this morning.  The woman told me she was from Equifax and needed to verify employment and gave me someone's name.  I told the worman I had no idea who that person was.  She asked to speak with someone else..  I said this is a far as you can go.

So I just called the number out of curiousity.  An automated system answered and said no business name and to just hold.  

A woman answered the call just said "verifications."  I asked what company this was and she said "Wells Fargo."

It was an employment verification firm hired by Wells Fargo mortgage company to confirm employment on one of our employees.  Was legit.

I didn't anwer when I received two calls from the number but googled and found tis page. I read the posts below and since I am going thru a refinance with Wells Fargo, I emailed my Wells Fargo rep. They called the number and verified that it is a company doing verification related to the refi. As with any unexpected call, be careful what info you give them. In this case, I'd give them a fax number to my HR office but wouldn't give them a SSN number or anything.

Complete and total scam.  I received a few voicemails from a "Wells Fargo" representative requesting a fax number for employment verification.  I called my official Wells Fargo rep who said there were no inquires on my account.  I did do a credit report check and happily found nothing suspicious. I Googled this number and found more negative than positive information that confirmed my suspicion.  I did eventually answer his call to find that was for a mortgage inquiry.  I played dumb for a few questions, lead him on, then told him I had done my homework and simpy could not help him.  I told him I certainly would entertain any "official" Wells Fargo communication via email or mail.  Definitely caught him off guard as he was shuffling papers and stumbling on the phone.  

Check your credit reports, and do not give information to these people.  Kindly deny their request and say that Wells Fargo would always send official communications.  These people are 100% scammers and anyone denying this on these posts are probably the same individuals calling you.
