Yeah, I got a letter dated July 2012 stating that I should expect an increase in my timeshare maintenance fees. Well DUH. As cost of doing business and cost of materials increase ( do to our 'improving economy' according to Washington DC ) those fees will go up. Especially if your ownership is in a copse of older buildings. Ie Colonial Williamsburg.
Obviously the maintenance fees go up as the buildings age.
But where does it stop? We use ours now... But the purchase was in perpetuity.... So we die and our kids are saddled with a monthly bill they don't want. There's the rub. It is hard to get rid of a timeshare.. Hence the maintenance fees.
These companies should have a way for a reasonable return of ownership....

I got a resort notification letter for increasing time share fees, instructed to call 866-414-7940, and I don't even own a time share. This is a scam, which our government should be vigorously investigating and prosecuting, but they seem to think that wasting time and our tax dollars on frivolous programs and projects is more important than taking care of and protecting US citizens/tax payers is more important.
