These people are unprofessional and annoying. When I politely told them there was no one by that name at this number, they kept calling, so I told them I was on the DNC list and had never had any dealings with this company and not to call again. The minute I hung up they dialed back. They find this funny, and here I am out showing property to people and can't shut my phone off to avoid them, so have to keep trying to act civilized as they keep interrupting my work. They also call using bogus numbers for their caller ID. I can't believe how many URLs there are related to problems with Columbia House/BMG. How do they get away with this?

I'll just keep ignoring the calls or change my number for now.

i have never ordered cd's this is an unlisted number to boot and not even in my name!! so annoyed. now on hold about to go off on them. the waitimg music is even indian. they call all hours of the day and it needs to stop.

Same story: These idiots call at all hours, over and over again, some rude hispanic guy who hangs up if you ask to speak to a supervisor or tell them to stop calling. Apparently this dude is too stupid to listen to my outgoing message, which would clearly tell him this isn't the person he's trying to reach. About four calls ago (i.e. yesterday) when he called and asked for Gabriella so I just figured WHAT THE HELL and said, yeah, this is she. He says he's calling on behalf of BMG/Columbia House re: a $50.22 past due charge and that if i don't pay it right away they're going to add a $200.00 late charge and he's VERY VERY worried about that! (snort-snort) He says the acct # is 1700853 and when I ask where I can call him back he gives, of course, our favorite number as featured throughout this web site. So now my question is: Is this moron (who claims his name is Mark Robinson... yeah, right!)REALLY a collection agent for this company... and if he is, SHAME ON THEM for employing such a shoddy company! ... or is this a scame to try to get credit card or bank info under the ruse of being a colelction agency? MAY I MAKE THIS SUGGETION??? Let's all contact the local consumer adviocates for our area TV stations and see what happens! If these jerks DO work for this copany, the big company should take the heat for it and if they DON'T the big company may take action to restore their reputation in the business community. Just a thought!  By the way, sometimes they try to screw with your caller ID by adding extra numbers in front of our featured number.

My husband is getting numerous phone calls from this number.  When I tried calling it back, it rang 4 times then someone hung up.  Twice, this happened.  It was a guy with an Indian accent, saying he wants to help my husband take care of the $30 he owes Columbia House (he doesn't owe Columbia House money) and he needs his credit card number.  Of course my husband didn't give it to him.  Next time he calls, we are going to let him know this number has been reported to our local law enforcement agency!

Hey guys..i had these annoying people call me cell..dont know how they got my number....but they appeared to be Arab or something..weird....anyways.............they were calling up the 12 to 15 times a week talk about annoying cause they would leave messages sometimes...sometimes they would jus listen and hang up and sometimes someone answered..anyways i jus figured one day to tell them that the person they were trying to reach at the number was wrong and that they had the wrong number and well they have stopped calling ever since

I keep getting 5-6 calls a day and they keep telling me that it is Jon Smith calling but keep asking for a new person. And I yelled at them and said that if they call again I am going to put a lawsuit against them, They said sorry we will not call again. 20 min later they called back with the same name asking to talk to another man! How do we get them to stop calling?

I get 3-4 calls per day on my cellphone. I have told them to remove my number from there call list. They said they would but I keep getting calls. It is costing me money when I get these calls. They have a hard time speaking english.

I called this company again and asked why they are calling me. Because I received another call from them an hour later. He asked for my cell number and I would not give it to him and I asked him why are so many people complaining about his company on the Internet. And I also told him to look on the Internet and see how many people are complaining about his company. But the kicker is that I did not tell him where to look. He will be on the net for days.

Update, 30 minutes after I was assured I would not be contacted again they called back. any advice as to how to report a do not call violation or how I can approach the AG or a Lawyer for harassement would be appreciated

Received a call from the same number 1-866-486-2857 today Oct/18/2007 on my cell phone. I called back the number with my SKYPE phone and the person that answered had an American accent. I did not talk as they did not leave a message when they called me. The cell that they called me on is a NET10 pay as you go phone I wounder if they are not selling the info. I will find out today.

Receive months of calls from this number on my cell phone looking for the person who had my number before me. I have had this number for two years. I told them on the first call that they had the wrong number. in the last 36 hours, i have received 7 calls. i called them back, and they all have Indian accents with names like John Smith.  I spent the last 2 hours calling them and asking to speak with a supervisor to clear up this matter. I think I used up enough of there time and threatened to call the AG office that they may just write off the $32.00 that is alledegly owed to Columbia House Records. Calls my cell phone as well.  I don't remember when this started but it's recent.  Got a call yesterday and today at about 12:40 pm est.  Not really that annoying (unless they call at 2:00 am) and by practice anyhow I ignore what appears to be toll free or non-518 area code numbers unless it's one I have programmed in for relatives/friends.

I keep getting calls at all times from this number. Whenever I pick it up, 9 times out of 10, no one's on the line.

They were pissing me off so bad, I set my Vonage software to call them every minute for a few hours. When I came back, I could tell the people answering the phones were noticeably pissed everytime they picked up.

Please contact the FTC (www.ftc.gov) with yout comments and complaints.  You can tell these folks to only communicate in writing and hang up.  If they continue to call, simply notify your local police.  Another option is to contact your legislator and let them know that there is a real issue with offshore call centers failing to abide with 15 USC 1632 and request that the FTC *Vigerously* enforce the Fair Credit Act when dealing with offshore collection agencies.  I would propose legislation that bars any offshore call center from making more than one call in a 30 day period to any individual or number within the US.
