They are FRS, Financial Recovery Services.  They are a collection agency that usually works on behalf of a third party debt holder.  As such, they most likely are calling to collect on a debt that:

1.  Is past the statute of limitations (check your state's statute).
2.  May exist, but the records are incomplete to the point where they have no legal claim, and will attempt to intimidate you into paying.

You have rights under the FDCPA, which include cease-and-desist, as well as punitive damage claims up to $1000 per incident.

These... "people" will not identify themselves until you verify your name or the last four digits of your SS#.  You have no legal obligation to give them this information, or to remain on the line.  You can also tell them that "...under the FDCPA, I demand that you cease all telephone contact and mail copies of all pertinent financial records referring to this claim.  If you continue to call and harass me, I have the right to sue under the FDCPA for up to $1000 per incident."  And then hang up.

Keep calling but they don't answer if I do pick up.

They just called me about a supposed debt I had with Washington Mutual. Just a small problem, I have never had a Washington Mutual credit card or account. Plus they called me by my maiden name that has not been used in over 4 years. And they claim I gave them my number which I have had for over 3 years. The last time my name was my maiden name was almost 5 years ago and I switched numbers twice then before sticking with this number so how on earth did I give you my number for an account I never had? They asked me my zip code and I hung up! I have been doing credit repair for the past 6 months and there is no washington mutual on my credit because I never had one. I have been called before by fradulent "debt collectors" about bogus debt. Usually once you tell them you are recording the call and if they have any other issues to take you to court, or that you are going to suit them for harrassment they stop calling. Oh and also just a tip by law all debt collectors have to start their call by saying "this is an attempt to collect a debt and this call is subject to being recorded and monitored". If they don't say that, it's fraud!

I have a medical debt which I have been paying monthly directly to the hospital without fail. The hospital wanted me to send them more than the $100 a month that I was sending. I live on fixed ss income and told them I could not do more. They turned it over to collection, but not this company so I don't understand. That is the only debt i have.

I'm listed on the do not call list and this is the first time I recieved a call,but I will be checking and reporting if I get another call from this number.

They called my parents home phone and asked for a person who is related to my brothers girlfriend. I just gave them her phone number. How did they get my parents phone number, is what I want to know?

This phone number is driving me crazy.  I pick up the phone and they hang up.  Keep calling me and not leaving voice mail.  It is a waste my cell phone minute.  By the way I have great credit and don't owe any one money and I don't deserve to be harrassed by these people.

Luckily I have her number and gave it to them...hopefully they wont call anymore but we get 3-4 collection calls for her every week.

I get calls from this number as well. It's very simple. DON'T ANSWER. You owe these people NOTHING. They are bottom feeders. They buy old debt that has most likely been charged-off, or sold to someone else who tried to collect unsuccessfully. If you talk to them, DO NOT acknowledge the debt, do not give them any information at all, or it could possible reactivate the debt. Make them give YOU the information they have. If they have your number, then they should be able to give you the info they have, if they won't, hang up. Best advice is not to talk to them in the first place.

These people keep calling me, and they are VERY RUDE.  THey call my work all the time and i tell them that the person they are asking for is not there.  They try to start fights with me and they yell at me.  i hate these people, and whats with using their last names to identify themselves

I think you are getting the calls, which is a result of someone forwarding the calls from their home phone to your phone. I have the same problem.

This company called me at 8:00 am on Saturday the 10th of April looking for a modesto who I don't know. i work in the cc industry and am up to date on collection practices do and don'ts The are not allowed to call before 8 am or after 9pm and also cannot disclose any private info on a debt with anyone other than the debtor. I believe what they're doing is pulling the debtor's cr report and trying to find relatives of this person that might be able to give them a way to contact the person directly. In my case I was asked how long i'd had this number they were calling me i suppose to find out if it was just a case of wrong number or if I in fact knew the person they're searching for. I told him in a very nasty way to remove my number immediately as i did not know this person he was looking for or i was going to get a lawyer.

For the record we do have the right to file a complaint with the federal trade commission and if we sue the company can actually get 1000.00 if we win. they would have to pay our court costs too.

I think looking at all these complaints we should all file complaints with the federal trade commission.

Average two calls a day. This time they said that there was a security breach on my credit card and to press on1 for more informatin and help. Now this has to be a violation!!!

Got a call tonight - the guy claimed to be from HSBC Bank and said I had a loan out that I was three months late on.  I told him I had no loans from any banks out and have never even heard of HSBC.  

He told me my name - first and last - and said "and your social security number ends in 8450."  Not even close.  I told him he must have the wrong guy, he said "alright, nevermind" and hung up.

Repeat phone calls to myself and to parents. I have no idea who these people are and have asked everytime for them not to call anymore. I explain to them they have the wrong number, but the calls persist.

The were calling me from IRS but I have no debt with them, so obviously that somebody want to collect a credit card number to use.

They are very irratating and never leave a message or it's a recording that says please hold all operators are busy. They need to stop harrassing us hard working citizens.

We have all become victims of our Government who allows people to operate such schemes against the very people who pays their salaries.  The American people deserve better than this and needs to flood the offices of their Representitives with a loud voice that we no longer will put up with this kind of HARASSMENT... Remember Election time is coming!!!!

Received a message from this number today trying to find someone with the same last name but different first name than my husband.  Called to let them know they had the wrong number.  I believe this is a collection agency as they kept referring to a file number, but even when I asked he would not say.  He was trying to convince me that I was lying to him as he said my phone number had been "verified".  I don't know what that means.  Yes, it is a phone number...the same phone number I have had since 1993.  I hope they find the person they are calling for and leave me alone!

They keep calling my house asking for my daughter by name, I tell them she doesn't live with me but the girl is very rude and says she knows I babysit my daughters kids, which I do. I have asked them repeatedly to stop calling my house. My daughter is almost 30 and I have nothing to do with any of her bills, how do stop these harassing phone calls? I've reported them to the National Do Not Call List which my number is on.

These people have been harassing me for quite sometime. The person they are asking for does not live at the number they are calling. I've asked them repeatedly to stop calling, but to no avail they are continuing to call. I've also reported them to the Nation Do Not Call List, but they are still continuing to call.

These people have been calling me from this number saying that I owe money for a credit card that I took out. The authorization is being disputed is there anything that I can do about stopping the calls?

These people keep calling my number and when I answer they hang up until this morning.They ask for my wifes son who is disabled and stays with us sometimes.He is on SSI and the caller threaten to get his check stopped.I called them back and they said nobody from their office said that but this was a lie because I answered the phone.In my opinion they were threatening to violate federal law as per the federal fair debt collection act and I told them that if they called back that I would call the FBI and they told me to go ahead.These people are scum.If anyone else was threaten in this manner the government should investigate.In my opinion they were as good as committing fraud by deception in the threat they made.

These people call me all the time asking for 2 or 3 different people that aren't me or anyone I've ever heard of.

Every time this number calls me they tell me that I have an important message.  Then I wait and it says "All of our representitives are busy"  Im getting very pissed off as these bastards call me at work and while Im at school.  If they would tell me what the hell is going or maybe leave a message, I could do something.  Im not going to wait on the phone for someone to start talking, especially if youre the one who called.  BACK OFF.
