Call has come in three times today... called it back and got a recording saying it was scholastic and they were closed for the holiday

scholastic kept calling my cell phone.  I have NO relation to them and told them to remove me.  They said it would take 2-3 days.  Pretty lame.

Here is truth about scholastic..... It seems to be one of the biggest fraud companies ever.. they do all sort of frauds.. send stuff to people without order and then send bills.. steal credit card information and charge people ... or simply charge more than the actual order ... numerous people have been harassed by these folks ..

I received some books without order and a bill asking me to return the books if i don't want .. Why should i spend my time and money to return the books i never ordered.. i threw books and invoice in trash.. If i receive more calls from them... i am definitely going to sue them

Got a call from this number couple of times this week. Once i picked up and it went to IVR.. then it got disconnected

Next time when i picked up the call... nobody spoke and it turned out to be blank call..

IT IS SCHOLASTIC BOOKS CALLING.  I TOLD THEM THAT I DID NOT HAVE THE BOOKS THAT THEY WERE CALLING TO INQUIRE ABOUT, THEY CLEARED THE BALANCE, BUT CONTINUE TO CALL 4 TO 5 TIMES A DAY.  WHEN I PICK UP THE PHONE THERE IS NOBODY THERE.  I CALL THE NUMBER BACK AND THEY WANT ME TO VERIFY ALL MY PERSONAL INFO, NOT HAPPENING.  THEY THEN TRY TO TELL ME THEY DO NOT CALL BEFORE 8 OF A MORNING, WHICH I RECEIVED A CALL AT 7:55 FROM THEM AND THEY SAY THEY DO NOT CALL MORE THAN 3 TIMES PER DAY.  THEY HAVE CALLED ME UP TO SIX TIMES IN ONE DAY.  THEY TOLD ME THAT I HAVE TO BE PATIENT BECAUSE IT CAN TAKE UP TO 10 BUSINESS DAYS TO BE REMOVED FROM THE DIALER.

this number, 866 526 7804, calls me at least three times a day for the last year. i never ordered anything from these people yet they seem to think i owe them money. they always call first thing in the morning, afternoon, and late evening. noone will ever answer the call, how do i get a hold of these people so i can get them to quit calling me. its getting really old

If you are getting calls from Scholastic, it's because somebody did order something and used your phone number to set up the account.  There's no 'scamming' involved on Scholastic's part.  They do have very good sales people, and it's very easy for someone to say 'yes' to one of their offers.  The thing is, once they start sending out their products, they want to get paid (imagine that).

If they call you and you really haven't ordered anything from them, you need to get them to verify all the account information.  If it's not you, then you may have a much larger situation to deal with (ie, you've got some identity theft going on).  You may find that your spouse, housemate, roommate, child, whatever, has ordered something that you didn't know about.

If you have their product at your home, simply return it (or pay for it, if you like it), and the calls will stop.  It usually takes about 5 business days for their system to clear.

Scammers who claim to be from "Scholastic Inc" keep calling and sending a bill. They use the number 1-800-544-4088. Never ordered books through them or anyone else. Woman tried to get my credit card number after claiming my number was already charged.

My 14 yr old daughter keeps getting calls from this number on her cell phone (she just got the phone - it is only 1 month old.)  I don't know how they even got her number.  I called it this morning (July 2, 08) and it was Scholastic.  I told them this was my daughter's cell phone and she was getting calls all hours from them.  The woman on the phone asked for the cell # and my daughter's name and my name (I only gave them our first name).  I have never had an account with them and my daughter certainly hasn't.  The woman on the phone said the # would be removed.  We'll see.

I keep getting calls from this number but no message is left.  I did have fraudulent charges from Scholastic on my business credit card--along with several other companies(Blockbuster, Girls Gone Wild and some auto related business).  I had to cancel the credit card and it is now being investigated by the credit card company's fraud division.  I would assume the calls are related to this.  I have purchased items from them for my kids through their Book Fair at school--but have never paid by credit card.

Jane you're an idiot - Scholastic can't legally call you anytime.

There is something called the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act; a debt collector can only call between 8 am and 9pm.  There are also various other laws such as they can't purposely harass, threaten, or use profane language with you.

If Scholastic is undertaking such actions; then report them to your State's Attorney General, State Senators and Representative, along with the Federal Trade Commission.  Also send Scholastic a letter via registered mail to inform them that they are to cease all communication with you - by law they will be required to end all communication.

If you're in Texas, then note that scholastic is in blatant violation of the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act. Just because Scholastic types something in fine print - that doesn't make the contract legal; as a result Scholastic can be sued in Texas courts for monetary compensation on all violations.

Don't be angry, read the small print, and call the number back and give them your phone number.  Either you owe a past due amount that you're trying to screw scholastic over with (the calls won't stop until they receive payment or clear the acct, and the calls don't stop if you simply say "stop calling"), or possibly  the phone number is connected to an account with a past due balance.  NOW, calls do not stop automatically after calling Scholastic (which is not a collection agency) it does take 48 to 72 hours.

I have recieved several calls from shcolastic. I called back today, and notified them that I had never received a shipment, which I keep getting billed for.  The customer service rep. was nice and removed the charge and also removed me from thier telemarketing list.  Beware if you do sign up for scholastic, they will call you every month for some new club or offer.

I'v been getting the same calls, before 8 a.m., and after 5 p.m.  they call at least 3 times a day. the first number comes up "toll free call  (866) 526-7804," then as soon as they hang up, they are calling me from "unavailable 000-000-000." so how do we stop it???

I keep getting calls 2-3 times a day, in odd hours as well.  wtf.  if i answer no one answers, i hear nothing.  so i chose not to answer anymore because i'm afraid of getting charged for it.

Yeah, they call me too. Scholastic is the biggest scam yet. I signed up to receive 2 books on animals, and they sent me the entire collection (like 30 books). Now I'm on this ridiculous payment plan that is costing me a lot of money. There was NO mention that they would send you the entire collection AND then charge you for it at the same time. Scammers!

I called the number 866-526-7804....it says I've reached "Scholastic"...A rep answered, and I told her I was getting called. She then asked for the number I was getting called at. I gave her my home number. She coudlnt locate it. Then she asked for my last name and zip code and still she could not find me. She said they are a collection company.

yes I get these calls as well..1st one just popped up 8:03 then they just keep calling!

I've been receiving calls from this number as well.   I just called them back a few minutes ago, and it's Scholastic.  They said the were calling regarding a past due account.  I informed them I had returned the item in October and they said they'd make note and remove the charge.  The representative was very pleasant.  Additionally I told her I didn't wish to receive anymore calls from Scholastic and to please remove me from the call list.

This number calls and there is no message or person on the other end.  I really want them to stop.  This seems like a form of harassment.

I kept getting calls from this number irrespective of time - before 8am, evenings, weekends.  no messages.

You can file a complaint with the FCC, Log on to www.donotcall.gov You can also add your phone number to the National Do Not Call Registry on that web site.
