On 5/8/14 I received a call from a person "Flake" who said that my Windows program was showing trouble with terrorist threats & he had called to help fix the problem.  He sounded like he was from India & it was very difficult to understand what he was saying.  He instructed me to press the Window's key between Ctrl & Alt while pressing down on the "r" key.  He wanted me to create a name for the message box that popped up.  Before I went any further, I told him I was going to check with someone else before I did anything more in order to verify that this was a legitimate call.  I asked if I could call him back & he gave me tel # 866-539-8803.  I never called back after discussing situation with another computer person.  Now I see this was a problem that other victims have experienced.

That is EXACTLY what just happened to me moments ago. Except the guy used the name Mark Roger. Tells me he is "Trying to protect your computer." I trusted my gut and asked for his number. When I googled it I am finding all these remarks. Yours is VERY IDENTICAL to what happened to me.

Received a call from "David Fox" stating that he was an employee of Global Online Help & Support Center, an affiliate of Microsoft.  He asked if we were having trouble with our computer.  Ironically, we are!  My son-in-law is a computer guy and took my laptop home to work on- just last night!  We thought maybe he had contacted someone online for additional support.  "David Fox" told me that 'unauthorized sites' were accessed through my email, but I know that is not true.  I told my son-in-law about this call, and he warned us.  I'm sure glad I didn't have my laptop here...I might have been duped!  866-539-8803 is the number he gave me to call if problem can't be fixed.  Private is what showed up on Caller ID.

I got a call from a guy with a thick Indian accent telling me there was a problem with the Windows operating system, and he wanted to help me correct it myself before something occurred with my computer.  He asked me to press ctrl and the Windows flag, which brought up a Run window.  He wanted me to type in eventvwr.  When I told him I was concerned this was a scam, he assured me they were only trying to help.  He asks, How else would he have my name and phone number?  I asked for his phone number.  He gave me 646-810-6453 and said his name was "Charlie".  I told him I wanted an 800 number.  He provided 866-539-8803.  He was prodding me to continue.  I got on my work computer and entered in his number.  I think he knew I was checking on him.  I told him I would call him back.  I called our Geek Squad at the local Best Buy, and he confirmed this is a scam to get control of our computer or to obtain sensitive information.  Please do not be fooled.  I did not get a phone number on my caller ID.  It came across as Private Caller, which was another red flag.

My guy's name was "David Fox" with a very heavy middle eastern accent.  He got annoyed when I told him I was not comfortable with following his instructions to fix my computer.  He gave some crazy story about my computer being infected because someone downloaded illegal stuff in my area from the main server.  Blah, Blah, Blah.  I am glad I didn't fall for it!

I Just got this call from a woman with a strong accent who claimed to be calling from "Microsoft" saying that they are getting reports from my computers that they have been infected.  I was very suspicious, and asked for a phone number, she gave me a long distance number, so I asked for a toll-free.  She gave me 1-866-539-8803.  She was very insistent that I turn on my computer to she could help me find and fix the problem.  When I told her my Kaspersky had just checked our computers and everything was fine, she hung up!!  Upon checking the Microsoft website and googling the phone number, I have found this is a scam, and an often used phone number by the scammers.  DO NOT GIVE  THEM YOUR INFO!!!

Just got a call from an Asian who I could barely understand. Said the same thing, something about the safety of my home network. I told him he was a crook and would turn him into our BBB. Not that it will make a difference, since I'm pretty sure he's from outside the U.S. He "said" his office was in New York. He even got biligerant with me when I told him it was a scam. Slime ball!!!

I received a call today from a "Ben Wilson" with a very thick accent and was told that my computer was corrupt. He kept insisting I go to run on my computer.  I refused and kept asking him to tell me what he wanted me to type in the run box. He would not tell me.  When I asked what number he was calling from he gave me the 866-539-8803 number. I then called Bright House and we put in a complaint to the FTC.

WHAT A CON ARTIST!! I did get a call from a guy with a very thick accent called Eddie Wilson he says he is calling from Houston. He says he is with Microsoft and that they were attacking my hard drive. He also said my computer viruses were affecting other computers. The scarey part was that I did take my computer to STAPLES for my virus and lack of speed issues. Originally, I thought he was with STAPLES-Houston. This guy was PERSISTENT. He makes it sound like an URGENT MATTER. Another scarey part is that he has my home phone # and my work phone #. These people know where you are calling from because they keep you on hold for the longest time while they track down your location. I thought this was "PHISHY' so I hung up and did an internet search. OH MY GOODNESS, THE REPORTS I READ ON THIS PHONE # are similiar to mine. The reports are 3 paged long!! I did call my STAPLES store to warn the manager of this con artist. He said I should report this to the authorities. I plan on reporting this to Ruth Spencer and Rob Woljek local investigative reporters. We need to get this STOPPED!!!

Had the same call.  First an Andrew Stevenson, played along for a while, voice changed, asked who I was talking to, and got James Pattison, the supervisor.  Gave employee IDs and this the 866 number.  Got stupid answers to my questions, trying to lead me to go to their site. Couldn't tell me which PC or operating system had a problem.  Suggested it was a scam, english names with Indian accents.  Said they were based in New York.  I suggested that when I caught up to them I would slit their throat, leave their still warm carcussus under the sun for the buzzards to devour.  Told me then to get lost and hung up.  This totally is a scam and the phone number needs to be disconnected, and of course the thiefs behind it need to have their throats slit.

Beware of ph# 866-539-8803 or on your caller ID ph# 928-52

On 2/5/2013 I received a phone call from a William Coleman. The number on my caller ID showed as 928-52 and immediately raised my suspicion. The caller said that he was the senior manager of Global Computers and was calling about a virus on my computer. I told him that I did not own a computer but in his heavy Indian accent, he asked for my husband by his last name and insisted that I turn on the computer for him, Mr. Coleman, to fix the computer virus before my husband's files get corrupted. I was very suspicious because my husband is a computer analyst and could fix his own virus. I got on my cell phone and called my husband at work and explained to him what the caller wanted. My husband asked to speak to Mr. Coleman. I took Mr. Coleman's number 866-539-8803 and gave it to my husband while I still have Mr. Coleman on the phone. My husband called the number and surprising  while I still have the "so called" Mr. Coleman on the phone, Mr. Coleman answered the my husband's call and could not prove the virus existed. At this point we were convinced this a scam. We told both of the Mr. Colemans that we were investigators and they both hung up on us. I called back the number several times but got no answer. It's time we fight back and harass the scammers.

Received a phone call from a male who had an indian accent.  He asked for the owner of the house (not home) he spoke to me, owners wife.  Told me that on my Windows computer that we registered when we purchased the computer, they were contacted that there are bad files with warning signs that have been infesting my computer.  He told me that if we did not destroy them, all my files in the computer would be broken into including my passwords and all my records would be available to the person breaking in. My banking and online purchase information.  He then told me to go to my start button, and led me to the event folder.  On the right side showed all these X's in red, hundred or more, and then he told me to keep on cursing down the screen and there should be warning signs (which there were) in yellow.  He told me he needed to removed these ASAP.  He then led me to the start button again and told me to click on the run button and put in there www.showmypc.com.  Before I did that I told he I did not feel comfortable doing that and I wanted to talk to my husband.  He said take my number down  866-539-8803 and my name is John.  To call him.  We did not call him and the next day he called back and my husband picked up and told him never to call our number again.  This is a huge scam.  Be ware.......

Got a a call from 631 621 0001 again - same voice different name - last time it was Zack Marsh, today it was Christopher Jones. Name of the so-called supervisor Chris both times.

They tell you they are connected to Microsoft and want to sell you Malware removing software after showing you the event fewer with a lot of error reports. They charge you $150!

I also got also calls from 866 539 8803 same voices different names like Alan Andrew. Looks to me the same fraudulent attempts.
"I answered the phone and was told that it was Windows Help Line. They were getting "malware" on their mainframe and that there was something wrong with my system. I refused to talk any further, He gave me the phone number 1- 866-539-8803. He said his name was James Watson.  He spoke with a thick middle eastern accent. The name and the accent didn't match.I didn't call that number; but, microsoft are not aware of this. They suggested that it seemes like a scam!!!!!!!!!" found this on http://www.jetlyrics.com/callerreview/review.php?q=8665398803

Fellow with Indian accept, however inconsistent North American name (Ben Wilson) called about some software issue + that he wanted to fix the computer.  Tried calling back, however line is always busy.  Based on what others have written, this is a scam artist.

Hopefully someone will report this to ATT or whomever is providing him the 1-866 # so they can put him out of business!

Just got a call from this number offering to clean my computer from malware and viruses. He said they are service providers for Windows but not part of Microsoft or other.. Looked suspicious to me. There is not such thing as "service provider" for windows... There are internet service providers and etc.
Wondering if those who let them access their PC remotely got their data stolen or computer infected...

Phoned and couldn't understand the accent.   Given another rep. who spoke better English.  Said they were Computer Solutions and indicated they had identified problems with our Windows Operating System.  Knew we had Windows 7.  Knew our ID number which we were able to identify as correct via his instructions.   Said we had problems and actually took over our mouse control to identify the problems and showed us some software that illustrate this on our screen.  We truly had a dinner obligation and did not have time for him to solve it altho he had all the ways to prove this existed.  He actually controlled our "mouse" as we justified his concern.   We finally said we had to leave and he told us to call first thing tomorrow morning that being Saturday, Dec. 20th 2012.  His name was Bobby.   My husband said "phoney" but I believed until I Googled the phone number to call 866-539-8803.   He knew alot about our programs and now we are fearful of our accounts.   He said his company, Computer Solutions altho not connected with Microsoft was a Windows Operating System.  We had to really leave our home and he told us to call first thing in the morning (Wed. Dec.20th) and he would get rid of the problems but insured us that it was not a virus.    Peggy Malloy is not my real name.  Scared to give it.
