If they are legitimate how did they get my minor daughter's name and home phone?  They asked for a 13-year-old child regarding her health insurance!  What a scam!

I'm a pretty skeptical guy and I own a small healthcare company so I was curious about this phone message.  A quick google search lead me to a web page on Anthem's website that does indeed provide free access to a nurse and/ or "Myhealth coach".  Just google "anthem myhealth coach". This is a perfectly legitimate service that unfortunately suffers from terrible messaging. It looks like you can safely register on Anthem's website and use the service from there.

I just called them as I haven't answered the phone any of the times that it rang.  The automated message says it is your Consumer Directed Health Program.   Then a man answered and I told him I wanted the calls to stop.  He said he did not know why I was called and that he needed my name to find out and I said no and that I was going to report them.  We get all info about our Anthem plan on PAPER.

Just google the number while on the phone.  The representative identified himself as affiliated with Anthem BCBS.  He had my address and birthdate and explaned the coverage.  Agree how could BCBS offer services of a RN without any fee to the patient.  He proceeded to ask for my marital status and doctor.  If this was legitimate he would have this information on file.   He wanted to know when is a good time for the nurse to call me to set up my file with background information I responded by asking him for printed material for me to review prior to the call.  He said he would send it to me.   I asked him when is the nurse expected to call. He said 2-3 days.  Then asked him when can I expect the material in the mail, 2-3 weeks.  I then commented that I would not be ready to speak to the nurse until after I have reviewed the material.  His response was that he is closing the file.........surprise surprise.  Be careful

Report these people to your state attorney general's office. I have. They can't say they are "from Anthem/BCBS" if they are not. That's fraud. This definitely is a scam, even if it is for a service that Anthem allegedly covers.

Also, if they indeed are from Anthem, why did the person who answered my return call say he couldn't identify me from my Group/ID agreement numbers. That's what every Anthem representative (and automated voice mail) asks for first. He insisted that I provide sensitive personal information, stuff that could be used in identity theft. I refused.

Furthermore, HIPAA prevents Anthem from providing your personal health information to third parties. So if Anthem is facilitating these people, it is liable for legal action. Maybe we should launch a class-action suit.

Denise, thanks very much for the information. I have just been called from them and refused to give out any information, telling them I would do an Internet search for the phone number and then call back.

Apparently it is some kind of weird scam. I should have known, because it is not like Anthem is going to pay a real nurse to call you out of the kindness of their hearts.

Man..I should have goggled this first...I called them as well but caught myself in what they were trying to extract. Called State Attorney/Consumer Affairs ..they were helpful in logging the complaint.
