Received the same letter - two airline tickets and a $500 gas voucher offered. Said they had tried to "contact" me several times. Please contact them so they can give it to the alternate. The callback number is 1-866-927-1380. Does it strike anyone else as odd that no two numbers for callback match? Could this be handled through the Post Office as mail fraud? Lets find out !!

OOPS! I was wrong... read the following from another B'hammer:
Did not get a call initially - I got the letter. I called / I checked out Vacation Network / researched all the BBB info.... here's my take: Colbert & Johnson may or may not be real, but regardless, it is only a medium to get to you from a company named Vacation Network, Inc out of Evans GA. - who is at the other end of the telephone when you call. This is probably not a total scam, at least not on the front end, but the letter is deceptive. It is an advertisement more so than a notification that you've won something - you were "selected" to receive it only because you have a valid mailing address. If you call, you are asked to agree to sit through about a 1 hour sales pitch on vacation/travel/timeshare offerings... in return, you will get 2 RT air tickets and a gas voucher. On the airfare - plan on pretty heavy restrictions on their use. On the gas voucher (mine was for $500) - to use it you have to buy the gas yourself and submit receipts for a refund. For every $100 you submit, they give you $25 back (no idea how long this takes to process). IOW, you will have to spend $2000 on gas in order to claim all $500 of the voucher. If you buy something (a travel package/timeshare)as a result of the 1 hour sales pitch, there appears to be a greater likelihood of not getting what you thought you'd get. While the company has a number of complaints filed against it with the BBB in all categories, they have moved to resolve about 65% of them. About 25% remain unresolved and the balance were closed without an amicable resolution. This may not be a scam, but unless you are in dire straights for airfare and/or are willing to spend $2000 in order to get back $500 on gas, this is at best a likely waste of time.

I think it may be from a collection agency --- a whois for the url gave a 'proxy' registrant only (to hide the i.d. of the actual registrant).
my letter was hand-addressed and was from "Bart Stone, Travel Awards Division"
BE CAREFUL - YOU CANNOT BLOCK YOUR PHONE NUMBER FROM ANY TOLL-FREE PHONE NUMBER YOU CALL!!! Even using *67 or anything else won't work!
If you dial it, they WILL have the number of the phone you are using!
paul 2011-06-06 21:02:33 Unknown
my guess is that it is a collection agency!

Received one today addressed to my wife's maiden name. I'll call tomorrow and screw with them. I'll keep you all posted. I kinda of enjoy things like this. My favorite are the ones that call and tell me my car warranty is about to expire. I call them back give them false info, and when it's time give them payment info I hang up.

We got the same letter as everyone else today. Guessing they are trolling B'ham phone book or something since there are so many B'ham posters here. Thanks for posting the info. We weren't tempted, but we wondered who these jokers were.

Got the letter from VP Sue Toms - 866.927.1380 - wonder how many vp's this company has ???
It smells like a scam - I want to know who sold my address and if this is the way they contact you if you are on the DO NOT CALL list.

I didn't get a phone call but got this letter today, handwritten and postmarked from Toledo. I was suspicious because it's addressed to me in my maiden name, which I haven't used in about a year. I'm definitely not calling!

Just received the same letter as Yos and LV above. At first I thought it was a new way for bill collectors to get you to contact them. After reading all this I guess it's just a timeshare scam.

Received the same letter as everyone else. Mine was from Bart Stone and the address on the letter is Martinez, GA but the envelope is from Augusta, GA. The phone number on mine is 866.927.6026.
I did some research and found that Colbert & Johnson is actually located in the Dallas area and are part of a larger corporation named CISTERA NETWORKS INC., which is out of Nevada.
This is the address and contact person I found.
Colbert & Johnson LLP, 6021 Morriss Road, Suite 101, Flower Mound, Texas 75028
Robert J. Johnson, Telephone No: (972) 724-3338 ext. 203, Facsimile No: (972)
724-1922.

Got a letter today that stated,"I am pleased to inform you that you have been selected to receive 2 roundtrip airline tickets. Congratulations! These tickets are valid for travel anywhere in the continental US. The retail value of this award is up to $1,400.00. Certain restrictions apply. Call within 48 hours and you will receive a $100 voucher.
It was signed : Sue Toms, Vice President, Travel Awards Division
I didn't call. What a bunch of crooks! Plain white envelope and strange handwriting!
JL 2011-06-06 21:02:33 Unknown
I just got the same letter. Sue toms signed it and the company address is Martinez GA but postmarked Toledo OH. The handwrittten envelope doesn't really do them any favors in the credibility department. The letter said this was their last attempt to contact me; that's just too bad I guess.
Dana 2011-06-06 21:02:33 Unknown
No phone calls, but received the same letter as mentioned above. It has to be a scam.
