Safe to say this is some telemarketer or scam. They have been calling me relentlessly for two weeks every day. No messages and it certainly isn't united way which I already donate to. Don't pick it up.  

866-642-0839  telemarketing call won't answer it.

The name of the company is Fundraising Direct and they work on behalf of numerous clients, mostly charity.

I will never give to a charity again. this is abuse and harassment!!!

Called my work cell phone at 8:40 pm EST. I will not answer 800 numbers at any time. Am blocking this number on the I-phone.

They call every day, and today he claimed to be the "Cancer Society"

Daniel....I once asked Bell to block some phone numbers that were calling from early morning till late evening...and never left a massage!  Bell told me they could block it  for free but after, I believe 3 numbers, I would have to pay and I would be wasting my money, because those companies have several numbers and simply switch to using another number when calling me again! I no longer answer calls that shows as 'No name'!

I got a call that is 166-642-0839 that is the second time that I am getting these messages and never leaves no message, also do not know this number what so ever.

I was sitting on the chair, this number called me, My brother was sitting on the couch and I told him I wasn't answering it was an 866 number. Before my phone finished ringing his started, calling from the same number. We have very different phone numbers, we aren't on each others plan, so they're getting a list somewhere. If you see this number coming up email a complaint to the CRTC.

THE KEEP CALLING ME AND WONT ANSWER..

Just got a call. Said it`s from Canadian Cancer Society asking for monthly donations

Just got a call from this company saying they were from the Canadian Cancer Society asking for monthly donations.

I answered and before they could even get into their spiel, I asked for my number to be taken off their call list. If you answer and there is a real person on the other end you can tell them to remove the number from their call list and they must do so.

I have received a few of these calls. The latest one talked about the unicef plumpy nut. He said he was calling from the UK and wanted me to commit to donations. I told him I wasn't prepared to do that and he lowered the amount from $20.00 amonth to $5.00 a month.  
This call bothered me as I do contribute to UNicef and consider them to be very worthwhile.

I contacted Fundraising Direct via their email address - feedback@fundraisingdirect.ca - asking to be removed and recieved confirmation within a few hours that it was done.

Received another call from this number - have sent them an email as suggested requesting removal, hopefully they'll listen

I just got a call from this number and when I answered, there wasn't anybody there.

I told him to take my #phone from his lists. He said he will. So far I felt that this time he was genuinely willing to help.  Crossing my fingers.

Just called Karl Holweger Director of the outfit told him to take my name from his list that i was not pleased at all. He stuck like glue asking me which charities I supported I had to politely and firmly told him that the discussion was close. British accent.

These bozos keep calling. They say they are with "doctors without borders" but they are a supposed fund raising company. Scammers!!  Never answer a call from any "800". Number.  I'm on DNC list but they ignore it.

Called purporting to be from "doctors without borders" whom I regularly support. Caller mispronounced my last name (it's really an easy one syllable name) which should have tipped me off. I notice that other comments mention UNICEF.  Safe to say that this caller doesn't rep either charity.

I had been getting calls and no messages as well from this number, I answered this evening because I was curious who it was.  They said they represented UNICEF - and that he was calling from the UK and that it was early in his day and that he really wanted a pledge.  I said that I would reinstate my monthly donation via the website and didn't feel comfortable giving my personal information over the phone.  He then tried to persuade me and asked odd questions...the call lasted longer than it should have.  Very weird experience.

As I donated to UNICEF, they call regularly and ask for more donation, and I said my English is not very well so they hanged up the phone:)

hey thanks for that.  I went to their web site and took a look at their clients,  found mine and emailed them to see if they could do anything to stop the calls.  I would put more trust in appealing to the clients to do something than asking fundraising direct to stop.  I will try and get back to you and let you know if it worked.

Interesting to know that I am not the only one receiving a call from them. They have been calling at least once or twice a day for the last week and have never left a msg. Figured i'd google the united states number as i am in canada and found this webpage
