I'm getting hangups from this number, too, and I too am working on a HAMP modification.  Wells Fargo has already tried to get me to sign a loan modification that is not HAMP, I have been on a three month trial for nine months, and have now been sent a new HAMP package.  Wells Fargo does not deal ethically. Be careful

It is Wells Fargo. I missed the call, called it back. She asked what the reason for my call was. I told her I missed a call. She did the verification bit. Did the "do you intend to stay in the home" bit. Told her I was waiting on Mod paperwork that was being sent to me (from conversation earlier in the week.) She said that was probably the reason for the call and she was noting on the acct that it wasn't rec'd yet.

From dealing with ASC/Wells Fargo the last several months this particular number does seem like lower level CSR's and lower payed. I agree that when a customer enters the Mod process this is just part of the  lifecycle of that. They are keeping tabs. They want their govt. $$ and most likely have to account for their processes as well.

Just my opinion.

plays automated message: "please hold for an important message from your mortgage company.  this call may be recorded for quality and training purposes."  Then after a minute hung up.

Got the same thing without the hangup from 8668059517.  After 3 minutes of wasted cellphone time, I hung up.

Both are irritating since I currently do not have a mortgage with any company.

CSR, I gather, from reading the posts, that you and your colleagues at the call centers are not Wells Fargo employees, but are employees of a company to whom Wells Fargo Home Mortgage outsources it's customer calls, whether they be collections, courtesy reminders, or other.

For all, I am a WF Home Mortgage customer, and I've received several calls from this number, but there haven't been any messages left on my voicemail. On the one occasion I was available to answer, there was dead air, i.e. no answer.

While I realize WF is overwhelmed with the volume and is ramping up and training as fast as possible, how hard can it be for call center reps to be trained to leave a brief voicemail message. It's a pretty unprofessional and inefficient way to contact ones customers!

I get 6 to 8 calls a day from this number on my house phone and cell phone. I answer and nothing but dead air. Starts around 8:00am and ends around 9:00pm 7 days a week. Its true we are getting help from Wells Fargo but this is beyond belief. If saving $469.00 a month off our mortage so we can pay off Medical bills  only to incur this non stop calling in my case just isn't worth it. The calls are going to put me into the hopital again. I'm assumming this is from Wells Fargo as I see all the other posts about this number (866-644-1569) But not sure as there is never anyone on the other end and the answering machine records nothing from this number. Stop it please!

Ten months ago I applied for homeowner's assistance through the home loan modification program which Wells Fargo and other mortgage holders took federal stimulus money for.  As a result, I have been put on a debt collection type list and I now receive these automated debt collector calls, even though I have never, not once, been late in my payment.  They call daily, usually three times a day, despite my repeated requests both verbally and in writing that they stop treating me as if I am in collections.  I have been tempted many times to withdraw my application from the home loan modification program, however I am going under financially and am in desperate need of this help.  I do think they harrass people in hopes that they will drop out and they won't have to help them.  I have to wonder if they've actually helped anyone.  The only thing they ever offered me is a two month deferment, however I would have to pay back what amounted to three months worth of payments or risk losing my house.

And since every conversation begins with the rep reading the Fair Debt Collections Act language to me, I am calling this debt collection, unwarranted as it may be.

CSR, I have sent many written requests to Wells Fargo specifically asking them to stop the robo-calls.  I update my information monthly.  I explained that both my husband and I are sick, with heart problems, and I don't care what you say, these calls three times a day are harrassment and they are stressful, especially when they are made for no good reason.  Keep in mind the people you are dealing with are already under a lot of stress.  The messages they leave when I don't pick up are always "urgent, please call us immediately" so naturally I call back right away, and they always say, sorry, we were just checking to see if you sent in  your information this month - no matter that I already have.  Say what you want, I don't feel as if Wells Fargo is dealing in good faith, and even though you say the mortgage loan documents say WF can call me if they want, there is a legal concept of "reasonableness" (yes that's a word), and robo-calls three times a day, going into the night, would never pass the reasonableness test in a court of law.  Use whatever excuses you like, I feel like I'm being jerked around, and I really hate it when someone says "we're doing it for your own good."

CSR- thank you.  From what I've gathered that's true.  I was told this is a "company working on behalf of Well's Fargo" performing "loss mitigation".

Sometimes I get a rep who was expecting to make an outbound call and they receive an inbound call instead and it flusters them.  People who haven't worked call centers don't understand the mechanics of it.

I usually get asked for documents I've sent in twice, or receive "courtesy payment reminders" when all of my payments have been electronically pre-approved and I have confirmation numbers for them.  Which is fine, I will do that in order to lower my monthly payments 22% (hooray).

But, is this statement basically correct (since all my T's are crossed and all my I's are dotted..) Is Wells Fargo just "keeping tabs on us".  Since there is absolutely no other reasons for the calls in my case?

And true: People who are receiving these calls *** Please be kind to the rep that you speak to on the phone.***  They sometimes are not trained as much as they should be (not their fault, do you think they *enjoy* taking 100 calls a day when they don't know the whole story?).  They are people working stressful jobs for mediocre pay (at best).  So, don't shoot the messenger.  Contact Well's Fargo through another channel and lodge a formal, rational complaint.  Or a request to have the calls stopped.  I have.

Hi everyone! I work at wells fargo, and this is a valid number coming from my call center. When you call back, it could direct to one of 3 offices (Arkansas, St. Louis, or Wisconsin). We do over 50,000 outbound calls a day, so there are definitely some dead air/error calls. Of course, when you do answer it's supposed to connect you to one of us. We do take inbound and outbound clals, so sometimes we'll catch an unexpected outbound call and have to recover, so excuse us if we get a little shell shocked for a few seconds!

We DO NOT collect any payments and we are NOT collections. We call to recover documents for your modification, explain your modification to you, courtesy payment reminders, advise of approvals/denials, and things of the general nature. It's true, some reps are better than others, if you feel that a rep isn't being very helpful feel free to ask for someone else.

Also, if you don't confirm your identity with us we can't speak to you OR provide you with a sup, so if you don't want to verify you're better off not answering/hanging up.

Also, SS, unless you send in a written request wells fargo can contact you as much as they'd like. They are not a debt collection company, and when you signed your mortgage you agreed to as many phone calls as we'd like to make. Send a cease and desist letter or stop answering.

Anyways, no need to be skeptical, we are just people doing our job, and it happens to be trying to help you reduce your mortgage payments :). If you do what we ask and cooperate, you're much more likely to succeed in a modification than if you fight and argue with us about whether or not we need information to process the request or not. We know what we're doing and what we're asking for, believe it or not. Of course, you're under no obligation to do that, just trying to help you have an enjoyable experience with my company/associates :).

I got a call from this number on my home phone, when I answered, they hung up.  20 seconds later, same number on my cell, and a hang up.

I am also doing the HAMP program with Well's Fargo.

Though I am not behind on any of my payments.

My guess is that they are keeping tabs on people with "distressed" mortgages.

Not a good way to do business though...

We have been getting calls from them, with no messages left or, when we pick up, dead air.  I just called them, confirmed with the person who answered the phone that they are not Wells Fargo but, in fact, "work in association" with Wells Fargo.  I asked the person who answered to remove our number from their calling list.  She repeatedly asked my name, but I refused to give it to her, because she only needs the number to remove us from the list. I also asked her to inform her supervisor/manager that if we receive another call from them, we are going to report them to the Better Business Bureau.

This is Wells Fargo.  Remember that WF has MANY different departments, and that the bank is different from home mortgage.  This is probably why one representative may not recognize the number as WF.  Caller ID may also be placed on a number that is not the "public" number.  Also, their collections and modification departments do not keep very good notes when talking with customers (although collections does a better job).

I've been (unsuccessfully) dealing with modification since October, and this is a regular number for them to call from.  They will call both numbers I have on file.  The unfortunate thing now is that they are no longer getting connected when I pick up, so I don't even get to talk to them.  Instead I get about 8 calls a day with dead air.

I've been getting hangup calls from this number as well.  don't know if it is Wells Fargo, but I've been working on a mortgage modification with them and have been told (by a HUD approved counselor) that some of their calls are from collections, and I know they have a number that doesn't always appear to be Wells Fargo. I believe they are trying to 'modify' loans from Wells Fargo before the Making Home Affordable program does, so they can get their fed money for modifying. The one they offered me after almost a year of delaing with them actually increased my principal and included hidden fees.  If you are working with Wells Fargo on a mortgage modification, be very careful.

I cannot reach anyone that I've talked to at this # when I try to call them back and ask for their extension. Including a supervisor named Dustin. This has been going on for days. Now another rep just asked what # I was dialing, told her 866-644-1569. She said she does NOT recognize that as a Wells Fargo#. That's how I just reached her! I do feel scammed in someway. I've gotten nowhere fast with this # in the last 7 days!!!! What is going on at Wells Fargo or has their phone# been hijacked?? Crazy but is it possible?

It can't be a scamming company considering when you call them back, it IS Wells Fargo.

I have an account with them, and they DO call from this number from time to time.

Received a call from this toll free number. The representative stated they were calling from Wells Fargo and to hold on. They came on the line after a brief pause. A gentlemen answered and he had a disturbingly slow Southern drawl. He was very unprofessional sounding, and stuttered and stammered the entire time.

He first asked for either me or my husband. Then he stated he was from Well Fargo and before the call could go any further, he needed to verify the last 4-digits of our social security number. I ultimately refused. Then he said he needed to verify I address. I told him what for and that he called me, I didn't call him for any inquiries/nor assistance needed? We went back/forth until he hung up on me abruptly! It was absolutely crazy!

If you ever see the telephone number: 1-866-644-1569 it is some type of scamming company, don't answer your phone.
