I called back (blocking my #) after i read here that it was videotron -- i am a subscriber.
The person who answered spoke only french and i am pretty sure told me that they were calling to ask about my satisfaction level, discuss new services and, don't worry, we'll call vack.
Very polite, but i wish there was someone who could communicate with customers in English.

Telemarketing

I just don't pick up the phone anymore. It rings and rings and rings and rings.........But I will now for sure never switch back to Videotron even if they offer everything for free for  eternity.

I called back the number and this is Videotron. I already have Videotron at home so don't no why they are calling me. I will answer next time to know.

Je reçois des appels de ce numéro très fréquemment depuis une semaine. Je ne réponds pas les numéros inconnus sans frais. J'ose espérer qu'à force de ne pas répondre ils vont arrêter. Est-ce naïf de ma part?

they've been calling me now for a couple days.  Today I got called twice .. once at about 4:30pm and then again at 8pm .. decided to call it back, it's now 9pm .. I get a FAX machine.

Vous avez une appareil main-libre ? Si oui, dès qu'ils appellent, appuyez sur le bouton main-libre pour répondre, puis une autre fois tout de suite pour raccrocher. Ils cesseront de vous appeler... c'est ce que j'ai fait et ç'a fonctionné.

Do you have the free-hand option on your phone? Yes? When they call, push on the free-hand button to answer, than push again to turn the phone off. They will stop calling you. This is what I did and it worked.

Got 23 calls in 9 days, 4 of which between 10 and 12:30 today, a Saturday morning!!! It's Viseotron. Gave them a piece of my mind several times, am on the do not call list, asked to be removed from their call list, to no avail. Aaargh.
And as a Videotron subscriber, I also fet calls from 877-823-5478, stupid Journal de Montreal. 12 times in 4 days. Do i have a target painted on my back???

I called Videotron and asked them to get my name and number out of their telemarketing list. Is that simple. Do it people.

Received a phone call from this number. The caller left no voice message.

It's a cumputer from Vidéotron that calls a different time in the day and calls back an hour (exactly) later. When you answer you don't hear the person yet 'cause a machine calls and when you answer, it transfers you to a telemarketer. I asked them to stop calling, but they started to call more often so call back, be nice at first and ask for the telemarketer's name then BE RUDE AND ASK FOR A SUPERVISER. I say be rude 'cause if you're not, the telemarketer won't let you talk to him! Then they put you on hold for a couple minutes!!! The superviser will give you his name and tell him that you are being harrassed by calls from their number and when you answer, nobody talks and BE RUDE, OR YOU'LL GET THE "I understand , your request will be in effect only in a couple days... bla bla bla" If  you are rude, the callings will stop forever!!! :) Good luck!
