Same thing for me... they call and ask for me by recorded message, I press one then sit on hold and they say "personal business matters" but they will not identify themselves. I'm sorry but if you know my name, you should have no problem identifying your company to me!

I am actively registered on the DO NOT CALL list. AND they called my cell. UGH!!!

Annoying. Seriously. I'm sure there are better jobs out there than what minimal sales these people are working for.

call everyday claiming I owe 500 dollars from a payday loan 5 years ago.
Dont remember, asked them to send me info in the mail and I will let them know if it was me.
They have information on me but I do not trust cold calls . They say they sent a bill in the mail, never received and i think this is a scam trying to get my checking or credit card info .
NEVER GIVE A COLD CALLER a CREDIT CARD OR CHECK OVER THE PHONE, no matter how legit it may sound, you will NOT get a receipt and they will call you again in a few months.

Some how this number got my cell phone number.  And when I answer it no one is on the phone but they keep the line open, and it is eating up my minutes. What is up with that??

Got this call too. Alex asked me to have my daughter who no longer lives at this address to call him. Personal matters. Don't know what to make of it. But will listen to those who have written here and not call back.

People use debt collectors as scapegoats because the entire debt collection industry is an elaborate fraud, populated by scoundrels and thieves.

Apparently Antwan works a lot of hours because that's who the guy claimed to be when I called that number back after the phone rang three times and then they hung up.  Did anyone realize a main reason they call from 800 numbers (includes others like 866 and 877) is because you CANNOT block the name and/or phone number you are calling from because THEY (whoever is calling) are paying for the call and they get your phone listing information, even if your number is unlisted. Call them back from a pay phone.

IF SOMEONE CALLED THIS # AND STARTED BLABBING ABOUT YOUR PERSONNAL DEBTS TO A STRANGER, YOU WOULD STILL COMPLAIN.  YOU GUYS ARE USING DEBT COLLECTORS AS A SCAPEGOAT.  THIS IS THE FIRST STEP TO SELF DILUSION, AND ITS NOT HEALTHY.

This number showed up on the caller ID, when I answered, they hung up. I called back, and the 'answering machine' or 'voice mail' said they were unavailable and to leave a message. They've called several times but this may be the only time I've been able to answer the phone. WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE?

THESE CLOWNS KEEP CALLING OUR HOUSE FOR THE WRONG PERSON.  
(SAME LAST NAME, BUT DIFFERENT FIRST NAMES).  I HAVE BE TURNED THEM INTO THE APPROPRIATE AGENCIES FOR BOTHERING AND HARRASSING THE WRONG PEOPLE. I HAVE KEPT ACCURATE RECORDS AND I AM PLANNING TO FILE CHARGES AGAINST THEM.  I HAVE REQUESTED ASSISTANCE FROM THE ATTORNEY GENERAL IN PA TO HELP ME GET THEM CLOSED DOWN AND FINED HEAVILY.

I answered the call and got a recorded message. They knew my name and asked me to press 1 to confirm my identity. I did so and then was put on hold. A message thanked me for my call and that a representative would take my call soon. Particularly annoying when a telemarketer or whoever calls you and then puts you on hold. I hung up. The calling company never once identified itself.

After looking it up, I saw that it was the State Collection Service, Inc. I have received mail from this collector for a hospital bill, however I have been making payments to the hospital directly. The payments are going through, because this collector shows a lower amount due with each letter. I will continue paying the hospital directly, because I don't trust this collector or the way they do business.

A call came in with caller ID 19999999999.  I was unable to pick up and a John left me a message and asked for a return call.  He did not identify himself but asked me to call back at 1-866-716-5705.  

I called back the next day and spoke to Katrine.  She said they were a company that dealt with "personal affairs."  She immediately knew who I was even though I always keep my identity private on caller ID when making all calls.  She informed me of a "debt" which had been paid off on time months earlier.  She was very shady and would not give me much information (although she sure wanted mine).

I called the company that I allegedly owed.  They informed me that I owed nothing and that they had not referred anything to a collection agency.

I called the collection agency back again at the same number (1-866-716-5705) and spoke with Antwan.  Again, my identity was immediately known.  I informed him of the situation.  I asked again the name of the agency, making known that the law states that he must give it to me if asked directly.  He informed me it was State Collection Service.

I have no problems with returning a collection agency's calls when they are straight forward and identify themselves, but it is this type of shady business that really angers me.  It is the unsavory manner in which most choose to go about their business that will cause me to blow a call off more than anything.
