It's Allstate, I have them for renter's insurance. Renewed my insurance, the calls don't stop. My agent told me it's somewhat legitimate, but if you give out a drop of personal information to them, expect it to get sold to every company on the market.
Welcome to the age of technology. Hopefully the NSA is getting their kicks listening to these absurd calls.

My elderly mother has been receiving calls from number at least 5 times/week. Today, a woman tells her that she is from Allstate Insurance and needs to verify my mother's full name, date of birth and social security number. My mother hung up. I called my mother's agent and he says this is a scam. Another time, she received a call from the same number and was told that they were attorneys. After doing some internet snooping, I've discovered that his phone number has been associated with Wells Fargo, an unidentified law firm and a provider of diabetic supplies (phonemoz.com). One of my siblings is experiencing financial difficulties and my mother has been receiving harrassing phone calls from bill collectors who are trying to intimidate her because they cannot collect from my sibling. Toll free numbers are not public information. Assignment of toll free numbers are administered by The SMS 800 (800 service management system). The management team is made up of reps from Verizon, AT&T, Bellsouth and QWest. This includes all numbers with area codes 800, 866, 877, 855, 844 This number (866-804-6500) was issued in 2009 by Verizon. I've reported this matter to the FTC and hopefully others will do the same. Calling Verizon was not helpful at all.

I do not have an Allstate policy and get calls from this number. I have called them back, told them I am not interested in whatever they are selling and please don't call again - works for about a week. I am also on the Do Not Call Registry. Guess who's getting reported - LOL.

Learn some manners! You're the idiot, idiot.

It's NOT a scam, idiots. If you call your agent, they may not know anything about it because it's their corporate offices trying to cross-sell policies. You do realize your local agents don't have the money for marketing, right? They also don't have anything to say about what the TV commercials say. It's a marketing plan, plain and simple. Almost everyone does it: banks, cable companies, internet companies, cell phone companies. If you don't want to be called, it's really easy to opt out. Answer the phone and politely tell the person on the other end to put you on their do-not-call list. The national DNC registry doesn't apply here because you already have a relationship with the company.

Got daily calls from them for the past two weeks. After reading these posts, I called the number back today and asked them to remove my name from their calling list. The lady seemed nice enough, took my number and that was it. So we'll see what happens from here on out.

Called my Allstate agent... this is NOT an Allstate phone number but is in fact a SCAM.... Verified through my agents office that this is definitely a scam and to not give any information over the phone to this number...I too received a call from this number and when I told them I knew it was a scam and how I knew they were pretending to be Allstate, THEY HUNG UP ON ME which would not have happened had it have been the real company.

My caller ID picked up this number....they keep calling and not leaving a message.
I called back from my office number and got a "Thank you for calling Allstate, please wait for the next customer service agent" message and hung up. I called my local agent and she told me that it IS an actual telemarketing company from Allstate and she's putting me on the "do not solicit call" list from them. SHE was anoyed that their telemarketing company was calling her current customer (which means they'd get credit for the "sale" not her).
I'm very happy that I have caller ID!

Wasn't them bugging you... this is a SCAM... this is not an Allstate number... you should have called you agent to verify. This number is a scam that is used by a company who is doing this to all insurance businesses. Again, this is a scam... if you get a call from this number... first thing out of your mouth should be "I know this is a scam" and guess what they do... THEY HANG UP ON YOU ONLY AFTER STATING "THIS IS NOT A SCAM" really that is your only defense? So, upon calling my real agent, turns out this number HAS BEEN TURNED INTO THE AUTHORITIES FOR IT BEING A SCAM. Do your research before you blame the innocent.

This is All-State insurance company calling their customers to see if they would be interested in purchasing another insurance policy (car, home, etc.). Often times no one is one the other line. I have called the number back and have spoken with a real live person. They said it will take 30 days to totally clean you from the system. They then promptly called me again 3 hrs. later at 9:30 PM.
30 days to clear. It only takes me 10 minutes to cancel my policy. Call me one more time and you've lost a customer for life!! How you can you be in good hands if one of them is holding a damn phone?!
