Got a call from Monica Scott, who works for Mr. Bill Russell. The number was 866-288-2780. She told me that I won one of four prizes and would be receiving a notice in the mail verifying the prize. I'm not sure what scam this, but it clearly is not legitimate. I just can't figure out what the callers actually get from you.

Got a call today from 866-288-2780 , same spiel, my name and address I am a prize winner of a 2014 Ford Explorer. However when I asked her to hold that I worked at the Fraud Prevention Center in my local PD and needed to run her Florida Number and name, she hung up!

"Yes this message is for Michelle nicely at two fifteen weeks saturday(?) hi my name is Terry Scott. I Mister Ross's assistant. I'm giving you a call in regards to the entry form which was submitted to us either online or at a local shopping mall it was to win a brand-new two thousand fourteen Ford Explorer 244103 more prizes. This contest is now officially over and your ticket entry has been selected as a winner. Congratulations. We had sent you some documents out in the mail to your home address but we did not receive a response back. This will be our final attempt. This is not a sales nor a solicitation call. This is something you definitely have one which we need to do is give us a call back as soon as possible. You can reach us at toll free 18662882780. We look forward to speaking with you. Thank you and congratulations."

Same scam. It's a new person calling: Monica Smith, who claims to be Mr. Russel's assistant. She left a message and claims we won a contest (we never entered), which she said we either did online or at a retail store. The prize is now a 2014 Ford Explorer or one of 4 prizes. I did not bother calling back.

Same exact message:

"This message is for <name> at <address>. Hi my name is Monica Scott, I'm Mr. Russel's assistant.  I'm giving you a call in regards to an entry form that was submitted either on line or at a local shopping mall. It was to any brand new 2014 Ford Explorer vehicle or one of three more prizes. This contest is now officially over and your ticket entry has been selected as a winner.  Congratulations. We have sent you some documents out in the mail to your home address but we did not receive a response back. This will be our final attempt.  This is not a sales nor solicitation call.  This is something you definetely have won.  What you need to do is give us a call back as soon as possible.  You can reach us at toll free 1 866 288 2780. We look forward to speaking with you. Thank you and congratulations."

Needless to say, I didn't call back.

Sounds like it's to get you to a timeshare pitch. One person here said he did get a $2,000 prize after the pitch. If you go count on the lowest cost prize. Maybe a $30 tablet for 3hrs of your time + gas? I said I was single, I might not get anything in the mail.

I called Mr. Russel - left a voicemail.  He sounds retarded.  Is that part of their plan to lull you in?

Same call about winning a sweepstakes of 1 of 4 prizes, same #866-288-2780, same name Mr. Russell - but everyone who calls is his "assistant".

Do you think we could be relatives?

Same deal with me except now it's a Ford Explorer or one of 3 other prizes. I do enter a lot of contest and since they had my name and phone number I didn't really think about it being a scam. But I figured there was probably a catch to it. I am not worried as I am a Life Lock member.

Just got the same basic call in Soquel, near Capitola in 831 area code.
Caller ID was Roger Griffin, 806-776-0551.

Answered part way thru, it was a recorded message that sounded a lot
like a real person.

23 April 2014 got a call from "Simone McCall" (is the name Mc-CALL ironic?) representing (inaudible), saying I won a 2014 Ford Explorer from a contest entry (unnamed) that I submitted at a shopping mall.  Call back this number (866-288-2780) to claim it--last chance...Because I had not replied to the hardcopy notification package they had sent me via the USPS mail, and this was absolutely the last attempt they would make to contact me. I did not return the call, since I'm sure that once they confirm they have a valid name and phone number, they can stick it on one or many telemarketing lists for an endless cycle of unwanted phone spam, even though I'm on the "Do Not Call List." This is a SPAM SCAM!

Does anybody actually beleive these types of calls these days???
I just got a call from Sexy Sara with Directors Choice (from 806-776-0551= NTS Communications, Lubbock, TX) informing me of fabulious prizes I have won from being selected from a mysterious drawing and all I have to do is call the infamous Mr.Russell at 866-288-2760... AND,, meet him in Capitola, CA (just down the road from where I live).

Same deal, Ford Explorer, $25,000, 3 day trip or new TV.  Left them a message and they called me back that I had won based on an online entry (which I never did).  Told me I needed to show up at local Hampton Inn (with wife) for 90 minute presentation from a new travel agency and then would receive a scratch off ticket to reveal one of the prizes.  After reading comments here, I doubt I will go.

Because of the 831 local area code, I felt compelled to answer. Very fishy. This time the prize was 40,000 cash or a Chevy Tahoe. The caller was male. Prizes sounded to good to be true!

Received a call from Monica Scott for Mr. Russell saying I won a prize from any entry form.  Prizes were 2014 Dodge Durango or one of 3 others.  My caller ID showed the call came in from 831 920 6621.  When searching the number they told me to call, this report came up.  The message she left said to call 403 1866 288 2780, which is a really strange number.

SCAM!!!!!!!!

Soooo glad I looked up this phone # and read these! I had the Simone McCall lady call about winning a 2013 Ford Explorer or 2 other prizes. I did call and got this guy Russell's voicemail.  Knew it seemed too good to be true!!

Got the call from a Diane foster. Call came up w a local number. Message left used correct name and address. Said had won a ford explorer or 1 of three other prizes. Instructions included the 866 number.

Received a voice message I won something and listed my address and they had sent me info in mail about my winnings and it was about to expire.  I did not return call.  

I got the same call, but now its a 2014 Ford Explorer,or 25,000 in cash, or a trip between two trips one to Vegas, or the other to Orlando Fla. The person who call me said, his name is Bryan Sutherland. From Prize Director calling for Bill Russell. Sick people in this world. Who has this much time on their hands.

Received the call in Utah at 3:45 pm March 15 2014.  Told I won a Ford Explorer and must call Mr. Russell at 1-866-288-2780.  I called but no answer as he would call back in 15 minutes.  I had other chores and our family just left.  Glad to see notes about this being a scam.

Yea , I got the same call only I won a 2014 Ford Expedition. Would be nice....

According to an officer at my local police department, If I were to call that Toll Free Number 1-866-288-2780, My phone would be charged an $8,000.00 charge.      PLEASE DO NOT CALL THIS NUMBER.  THANK YOU.

Told me I'd won a Ford Explorer and I needed to call the prize director, Mr. Russel at 866-288-2780. I didn't catch the name calling, but it was a woman with dogs barking in the background.

You would think that this would have been investigated after going on for two years...
