This unknown number has been calling my cell phone and home claiming charges would be filed against me if I did not respond. They stated they have attempted to call and sent mail on more than one occasion, which is a lie. This happened to me last year around the same time, It's a scam.

Received a call today it did state on my vm that there was a legal matter in the office & that they wanted to speak to me to get a statement on file. I was hesitant at first but also curious so I did return the call. I spoke to AshleyI didn't have any problems with them they gave me all the information I asked for. I can't see why they would call someone and ask them to return the call but yet not give them any info when they call back as the above statement states???? After speaking to AshleyI did find out that there was a returned check of mine from my wells fargo bank that was turned over to D.N.C.A & ASSOCIATES that I did write out to a payday loan institute. I fully remember doing this & have no problem paying for what I owe, but prior to me setting up arrangements I asked if I could contact Advance America myself just to be sure I was paying the right people because lets face it there are scams out there but Ashley hadno problem providing me the number for advance America she gave me the date the check was written as well as the original loan account number. I contacted advance they sent me over to their collection dept who then sent me to a bunch of other agencies that they sold it to who eventually sent me back to d.n.c.a upon me being sent back to them my payments were set up. People just be smart when you get calls verify the info make sure everything checks out contact the original creditor as I did & you will be fine but I find this company to be very legit seeing how I was forwarded directly back to them & the creditor verified everything.

If this was a legit call and if ANYONE was ever going to serve you papers, they wouldn't be calling to tell you. Think about it!! Also, this is a scam. They never answer questions and if you do pay, they will just come after you more with more BS about something you owe and scare you even more. GET IT IN WRITING before you do anything and never ever ever give out your info.

These guys have been calling me forever and if you notice, this phone number changes every so often and the message / scare tactics are the same. They have to keep moving around so no one can find them. There is also no "legal office". Legal office of who?? ask that... they will not have an answer. Hope this helps-- my recommendation is to not engage with them at all. Don't call them back, never approach them. They eventually go away or stop calling at least for awhile.

I was told I was being served papers for legal action as well, I called a police friend and had him check me out. There was nothing pending, no legal actions and also think about it; if you owed money it would be on your credit report if they are claiming it was within the past five years. I keep mine squeaky clean and if it's not there, (I also don't acknowledge any debt without it in writing) then it's not there. Hope this helps a bit.

i got a call on 3-25-14 on my vmail saying that whats ever is on my records that there going to send it to my job and to me. i was going crazy. thank you all for putting your stories up. now i can get some sleep tonight. i still have the v mail and was going to call on them.

When I answered a lady asked of I wanted to make a statement. I asked what she was referring to and her reply was my lack of cooperation was recorded for the courts. I laughed and she hung up. The the proceeded to call every minute for over an hour. I told them I reported them and a legitimate company would not behave this way. The reply was that I couldn't stop them and I couldn't find them.

If only it were a collection agency. I hate to say it, but I received a phone call just like the one we all received about 2 years ago. The guy told me I was on video surveillance at some check mart / loan mart. He informed me this happened several years ago (over 5), and I had no idea what he was talking about. Sadly, he scared the living daylights out of me so I gave him a credit card number to cover what I could only think was an unintentional bounced check. The amount I gave him was at least $200.  Now, today, I get a call saying the same thing. This time, I demanded answers....proof....and how can you have me on video surveillance???? How do you know what I look like? Who's to say someone didn't steal my check?  This is not a collection agency. This is a scam, and they sound very "professional" and "legal" until you really ask questions and demand answers to those questions...then it seems all professionalism goes right out the window!!

Got a call from 866-831-0832. It came up as unknown. A woman named Sharon left me a message saying, 'The case this and the case against you that and I can only help you today." I called and demanded to know who she was. Said they had me on video surveillance and then she proceeded to recite my credit card, address, social. I freaked out on her and demanded to know what this was all about.....she still kept giving me cryptic answers. I finally called my bank and had them change all of my numbers AND then I called my local sheriff's department. The officer called the number when I was listening on the other line. The woman, Sharon, denied she ever called me, even though I have her voicemail on my phone stating her name and number and her cryptic "case" message. When the officer asked her the specifics, what is the business address, she told him she would call him back to make sure he was legit!!!!!  SCAM!!!!!!!  If a woman from "The Department of Legal Services" calls, surely she would not intentionally lie to the authorities about a voicemail she left me.

Received call from Jennifer Carter saying she represented legal services. She wanted me to make a statement regarding serious allegations ought against me, and that in 24 hours the papers woul be served and she would no longer be able to help me ,  whatever that means. The name she used was my old married name from 5 years ago. As far know I have no legal allegations made against me especially anything using my married name. The call came in as a private number so it went to voicemail; she told me to call her back at 866-831-0832 extension 616.

I also received a message saying he is a state official trying to serve me papers and could not locate me. My phone blocked the call as it came from a private number, but he was still able to leave a voice mail. I looked online at my state's court website and found nothing filed under my name. He said his name was Tom Marley and has a Boston accent. He then left 1-866-831-0832 as the call back number.

Same thing here.  I called them back in fear, and then called the county.  The county knew nothing of it.  It is a collection agency using scare tactics from what I can tell.
