You can remove yourself from OCCA's calling list by calling (905) 455-8474 or Toll Free: 1-866-USE-OCCA ~ 1-866-873-6222.
The voice menu says to choose Option 7 to remove from the list, and then you have to speak your phone number after the tone.

Definitely a scam.....
1. they are making robo-calls and cold calls that risk offending real potential customers
2. they are calling people on the DNC list
3. they may or may not be an organization called the Ontario credit assoc. (or whatever)..they may simply be using the name of a legit organization
4. they likely are located outside of Canada
5. they switch phone numbers when they find that we are on to them!!

Normally I don't pick up these calls but am expecting calls that could come from a 800 or 866 number and so answered. Long winded taped message started - some guy yammering on about debt.
Do you have debt problems?.....well known scam against Canadians.
If you do have debt (and I don't) this company will only add to your grief. They give poor or no advice for $900. Who needs them? Shouldn't they be in jail?
This is a criminal enterprise....don't give them infor and don't fall for their lies.

These folks called yesterday afternoon (01 June 2011). Caller Id shows name"Toll Free Serv". Name looks bogus. Click(pause)Click. If they are legit why not use "OCCA".
Even more fishy is that I live in Alberta. Why would I need help solving non-existent debt problems from a company in Ontario? And a cold call at that!

Supposedly an Ontario Consumer Credit counselling call - if it's not a ":caller Id spoofed" fraud call. They want to know all about your credit habits. The questions about personal credit started right away.

Received a call from this number at 11:55 AM Calgary time on June 3. Message had a phone number and website.
I have filed a complaint with Canada's 'Do Not Call' group, which is part of the CRTC. Website for the DNC group is at https://www.lnnte-dncl.gc.ca/index-eng in the event any other folks want to file a complaint.
