The caller ID says "unknown" but if it is AMEX they should leave a msg. I let my answering machine take messages. If its important they'll leave a msg. I closed my AMEX account in 2008 after the gov't bailed them out. I don't owe them a penny but they owe me the taxes I paid to bail them out.

Phone call at 8:23 am, message immediately said "stand by for an important message from American Express". After a minute a voice came on with , "hello", but didn't respond to my "hello". Caller then disconnected. I called AmEx, and they confirmed it was a phishing call.

The caller just says hello repeatedly; called once day before yesterday, four times, every two hours from noon to eight yesterday. I do not have American Express so I doubt it's anyone from there.
