they called me on a friend's phone. this number has never been associated with me. i don't know how they got it.

Some guy called me looking for someone i never even heard of and didn't seem to believe me when I told him I didn't know who that was.  I asked him to spell the name and he said "...off the top of my head... C-r-i-"  etc. so in other words he didnt even have the guys name on paper.  His rudeness really ticked me off... he said his name was "Arthur"  Anyone have an address for this number?

I too received a call from someone identifying himself as Arthur Dent, who was looking for someone with the same last name as mine.  I allowed my answering machine to pick up (screening calls) Decided to pick up to let him know it was a wrong number.  He asked If I was the person he was looking for I said no.  He asked if I were their parent.  I said no.  I asked him to spell the name he was saying.  He did, it was no one I knew.   He said he got the number from their grandfather.  I asked for the name of the grandfather.  He could not provide an answer.  He became extremely rude with me and insisted I give him the correct number for this person he was looking for.  No matter how much I insisted he had the wrong number.  I told him to remove my number from his database and not to call anymore.  He said he was going to keep calling... I reported the incident to the annoyance call bureau with the phone company.
FYI.  He left a contact number on my answering machine for the person he was looking for to call. The number was 866-889-5222 ext. 8572

this number has been calling for weeks and when they leave a message, they simply say it is an important business matter and leave the number. i called today and asked what it what is in reference to. i provided the himber they had been calling and they said it was for a name of a person who did not live in the home. when i said i never heard of the person, they said that they were owed $5600 but since they had been trying to find them for a few weeks, they were going to have to give the money to someone else. the strange thing about this is that i just 'friended' the name they said on facebook after not speaking with them for over 13 years. not sure how they would get my home number since it is supposedly unlisted but there has to be a connection.

I received a call from this number and have no correspondence with anyone from this number!

A call was placed for some one that had the same last name as mine but the first name was wrong by only 2 letters. I was to call Elizabeth Booth (? Hard to understand the name. It was from Mercantile Adjustment Bureau. Please look up 1-866-809-7506. Same company, same stuff but changed the number.

and McCallie (?) there is NO attorney by that name with
a law license in New York State. That did not stop dumb&dumber from faxing the information on
Mercantile letter head, then dutifully discussing their business with us on a phone line, where they verified
their statements not once, twice, or even three times, yup! D&D did it FOUR times.

I wonder if Bob Roth & Jeff Miller will make them
employees of the month?
