Got the letter yesterday.  The number to call is now 1-866-927-6026 and the gas voucher is now up to $500...all from Bart Stone.  The postmark was Augusta, CA.  Child's hand writing on plain white envelope, like a 10 year old or so.

Received same letter, with callback # 866-927-6026. Gas voucher $500 and roundtrip airline tickets valued at $1,400.00. Decided to go to website looks real legit. Then decided to google to find out the real deal. If you know like the Armadillo, you will not get taken in by this handwritten addressed envelope scam.

Same scam. "Creech" mentioned on other threads concerning this company is now "Bart Stone, Travel Awards Division". Handwritten envelope, typed letter. No return address on envelope. Martinez GA address on letter, postmarked Augusta. Letter dated "October 28", not mailed until Nov. 4, arriving on the 6th, just in time for deadline of November 7th.

Looked like a scam. Read like a scam. Smelled like a scam. Good thing I didn't step in it...

Received same letter as above.  Don't know how they got my name.  Said they had been trying to call me.  If so, why not leave a message.  Something is fishy about this set up.  The toll free number I have been provided is 866-684-0792.I will try to find the BBB of Martinez Georgia - if that place even exists.

Same letter as all above. Very scary how they got the name they used for me as I never use that name except for legal matters only. Don't like people being able to SELL my name to someone WITHOUT MY PERMISSION. Where are my royalties for the sale of my name!!!! Plus this is the reason for so much identity theft its disgusting!

I didn't receive a call but my senior father received a hand addressed envelope with no return address with a letter inside saying he was selected to receive 2 free round trip tickets.  The letter goes on to say they have tried to contact him and will award them to another recipient if he does not contact them by a 12/6/08.  The letter is signed by Bart Stone.  The website www.colbertjohnson.com obviously shows what a scam they are!  Watch your elderly parents mailbox!

Information from the BBB of macon georgia in relation to Vaction Network in Martinez georgia

On August 10, 2007, Vacation Network, Inc. f/d/b/a Augusta Reservation Systems, Inc., Premiere Vacations, LLC and Reservation Systems, Inc. ("the Company") entered into an Assurance of Voluntary Compliance with Georgia Governor's Office of Consumer Affairs ("the OCA"). This was after an investigation had been initiated by the Office of Consumer Affairs regarding certain acts or practices by Vacation Network, Inc.

The OCA contends that the Company has engaged in unfair or deceptive acts or practices in the conduct of consumer transactions and practices in trade or commerce.

In part, the OCA alleges that the company has committed the following acts or practices:

Represented that accommodations provided by the company were in a specific geographical area when in fact the lodgings were many miles outside of the area promised to consumers and by offering it its service contracts certain terms providing for refunds, cancellation and accommodations standards, and then failing to honor those terms once the contracts are executed and consumers attempt to avail themselves of those provisions.

Advertised travel services with intent not to provide the marketed services regarding lodging being miles from the promised locations, and by failing to provide refunds, cancellation and accommodation standards as promised in the service contracts.

Failed to comply with required provisions concerning promotions by
providing an oral notice of the disclosures required, but failed to send the subsequent written notice required and
offering "free" prizes but failing to provide the verifiable retail value and odds to the participants receiving said prizes, requiring participants to pay $249 shipping and/or handling fees in order to claim said prize and failing and refusing to honor the prize voucher when consumers attempted to claim said prize.

Represented, expressly or by implication, in connection with a vacation, holiday, that consumers had won or were eligible to win prizes, when in fact the offer was a marketing ploy designed to make contact with prospective customers, and all substantially all of the persons entering the putative competitive enterprise received the same prize and/or had the same chance of being awarded a vacation package on the same terms.

Engaged in the following acts or practices that would operate as fraud or deceit upon a person by conducting or causing to be conducted telemarketing activities as described above.

Conducted activities involving or using a computer or computer network, engaged in acts or practices that would operate as fraud or deceit upon a person by disseminating on the Company's websites located at www.vrsvacations.com and www.arsvacations.com

Represented that the company is a "wholesale" marketer of travel services, when in fact the company's travel packages are purchased for resale to consumers, thus misrepresenting the nature of business.

Represented that the travel services offered by the Company have sponsorship or approval that they do not have, by attempting to induce consumers to enter into contracts whose terms the Company claimed had been approved by the State of Georgia, when such is not the case.

The Company denies these allegations, however, has agreed to enter into this Assurance of Voluntary Compliance to resolve this matter without the necessity of formal legal action. An Assurance of Voluntary Compliance is not considered an admission of guilt or violation of law.

Under the terms of the Assurance of Voluntary Compliance, the Company has agreed to certain conditions in the practice of their business, pay a civil penalty in the amount of $160,000 and provide compensatory relief to consumers according to the terms set forth. Consumers are advised to contact the Office of Consumer Affairs for the full details. The web address for OCA is http://consumer.georgia.gov and the phone number is 404 651-8600.

This does not feel right and appears to be an attempt to get you to call them; it's unclear how they got name and address.

Thee was no direct call. We received this letter 10/27/08 in a plain white envelope, hand addressed with no return address and postmarked Augusta Ga. It says it's their last attempt to contact us to award 2 round trip airline tickets worth $1400 plus a $500 gas voucher if we respond within 48 hours. There was no previous contact from them (Colbert & Johnson), and the letter was signed by Bart Stone, VP of Travel Awards Division.  They ask us to respond even if we choose to decline the offer, by calling 1-866-927-6026. That makes no sense. The company's address at the bottom of the letter is 4400 Columbia Rd Suite 104, Martinez GA 30907 and the URL www.colbertjohnson.com, where there is minimal information (only a form to fill out to contact them).
