Keep in mind that many people get these harassment calls who have no owed debt.  I've been getting calls for "Anna [Lastname]" for weeks and they will not talk to me -- they demand I put this mysterious person on the phone or give them my social security number, etc.

Don't always assume people who get credit collection calls are the actual target of the calls.  These people fish the phone book and make up names to match whoever they're trying to harass.  My surname is similar to this "Anna" person, so they phish the phonebook looking for first initial "A" and assume they have their catch.

Try to keep them on the line as long as possible... when they become rude and snotty, blow an airhorn in their ear and hang up...  What can they do?  They're breaking the law by making these calls, so they'd have to admit they're violating DNC and fair credit laws in order to bring charges against you.

If you can leave one of their CSR's permanantly deaf and humiliated, maybe they'll change their practices :-)  (no, I don't seriously recommend abusing them... just making a point about how frustrating it is to get someone else's dunn calls.

This company has contacted me telling me that I owe money from something that was not paid off from 7 years ago. As I tried to explain to John Micheal Thomas that the statue of limitations  have ran out on this he started to insist that I was wrong and wanted me to send money. After I ask for his name he told me that there were 3 of them working there with the same name. I ask if he was an American and he said yes. I could not understand this guy at all he is from India and given an American name as he works calling people. With most of them with the same damn name you can never call back to talk to the one before and they say I did not say that. I told him to send me facts and I was not giving any money to anyone with out it.

They called and said they were collecting a debt for 1st premeir card or something and I've paid that off years ago. I haven't gotten anything from them since 08 and all of a sudden this place is calling me. When I told him that I paid this off he got hostile and said that I didn't. I hung up on him. Will not be answering any calls from them and will file a report if they keep calling me. so ridiculous that they can be so rude and abusive..

I received an automated message from this company as well yesterday. Called back this am to investigate. Mr Aaron Simpson proceeds to tell me I owe a gas company from another state I lived in 6 YEARS ago over $200. He asked how we were gonna take care of this. My reply "it won't be today...will have to be the first of the year. " He asks why and explained it's Christmas time I don't have an extra 200 laying around. He then asks me to put it on a credit card so I won't have to pay it for 30 days. My response is I haven't done credit cards in over ten years. They get you in trouble and if you can't pay for it now you don't need it. Here's where it gets comical...all of sudden his whole demeanor changes and starts raising his voice. Telling me I don't have a credit card because my credits bad and I can't get. How I'm a low life and all this crap...that's where I proceeded to hang up before I got recorded being VERY nasty!
I guess what I'm trying to figure out is...why am I being treated this way? Why are these people allowed to speak to us this way? Doesn't seem right. I work full time...a job where I save lives everyday, I pay my taxes, I try to pay all my bills, and I treat people right. Yet I'm being judged by some POS in another state for some bill from 2005 that nobody has thought to clue me in about before now?!?!?! This country is going to SH$t!!! Bet he won't show up at my house...knock on my door...and then tell me how worthless I am!

I've been receiving recorded calls from this number, asking for a woman I've never heard of. I've tried calling a few times, months apart, to have my phone number removed. They never do it. Nor will they identify the name of their company. I'm tired of these CRIMINALS (good luck suing me for libel if you can identify me) harrassing me without any just case, After all, I don't owe them any money!

These people have been calling me demanding payment on an ATT account that has been settled.  The guy I talked too was very rude and when I told him if Source RM reports any negative info to any of the 3 credit bureau's I would report them to the FTC, state attorney generals office and the BBB and then sue them.  He then asked how I could afford an attorney to sue!  After reading all the comments, I think I will write letters to the FTC and BBB regarding these shady people!

I got a letter as well for Sprint which is for an old phone that was issued through my old employer and I turned my phone over to them. I received numerous bills from Sprint in my old employers name but to my address.  Now I am receiving this letter, I called and they asked for acct number on letter and I gave it to the person then she said well this is a debt we are collecting for Sprint. When I informed her that it was for my old employer she said "I doubt it, this is your debt" I said may I speak to your manager she said "No, like I told you this is your's so just Pay your bills" and then she hung up on me.  I called back and asked who was the person that this account logs as last person who logged account and they said a "Ms Andrews".  I am writing a dispute letter as well as a letter to the FDCA to advise them of Source Receivable Management actions and manner of handling accounts. Collections agencies have gotten away from harrassment and all tha told style of handling collectiosn.  I know because I worked for a large call center in the collection department and they did not tolerate incoming calls in this manner.

I was receiving these harrassing phone calls daily from a local number, however they did have the original creditor, but they were unable to keep their word and send me a bill. I used to work for a collections agency and I know they are allowed to leave a message and call back no less than 48 hours later. However, if they speak to you they cannot call for 7 days. This company is mean and nasty, they abbreviate and say SRM. I then called the original creditor who transferred me to Genesis Financial who then transferred me to NCO. NCO says they dont have my account. I tried asking for a mailing address from SRM, but like I said they are nasty, and I only think they have 3 people working. Because they refuse to give me a supervisor, and the same 3 people keep answering the phone. Being that they call from a local number and not an 800 of any sort, I am only able to call them back on my cel. Which they put in their system, now they are calling me on that. I am just confused, how can a business not have a mailing address???  The number im getting on my phone is 602-218-5854 or 5856.

The issue here is that the company I worked for owes the debt. I don't. I called the organization to let them know that the organization needed to be contacted and I was told that I used the phone for personal use and that I owed the debt. WHAT?! That makes no sense - I was an employee of the company and was issued a phone for work use. The people at SRM are hostile and manipulative, I called to give them information about the organization and they turned on me and wanted me to pay off the debt. Wrong, wrong, wrong - this is right and it seems like tons of other folks have had the same kind of conversations with this company. I'm sure there are consumer protection and fraud laws that this collections agency is breaking.

I've been getting phone calls from these people everyday. I called them back and asked for the company name and was immediately hung up on. My brother then called them and asked why our house was getting phone calls and they woman gave him the company name. SRM. Then he asked for the woman's name so he could keep a record of everything and she hung up on him too. They won't stop calling but they won't give me any information about why they are calling. I checked my credit scores and there's nothing negative on them. I only have one bill a month and it's always paid for. The one time it was late I called and let them know it would be two days late and they left a note in my file so I wouldn't have any late fees. How do I get them to leave me alone when I can't even get an answer for why they are calling?

Just received a call from Source Receivable Management saying that they are collecting $$ for Excel Communications which dates back to 1997!  I got all the info. from them and then immediately contacted Excel only to find that there is no acct. under the number that I was given.  We had been with Excel over 12 years ago but had always paid our bills so was suspicious right from the beginning.  When I called SRM back to get more info., they asked for my current phone number.  I said I wasn't going to give it to them so the woman said, "Well, then I can't help you."  and then proceeded to hang up on me.  Assuming this is a huge scam and not going to waste any more time over it.  Just wanted others to know and to do the same!!  God Bless!

I did and always have paid my bills and on time, too!  Don't assume that every collection agency is legit - you may find yourself in the same boat as I am and many others, from what I've been researching.  You sound very judgmental in your response.

Sourcerm has called my home and now is calling my work number!  I took care of all my bills years ago!  All was charged off, but I contacted the agencies who purchased the charged off bills and paid them all off.  I have a credit score of close to 800 and my credit shows pay on time, never late.  Different from what you all say is that I have called this number to stop the calls and have never reached anyone to correct their error.  I carried insurance on all my credit cards.  Jack Winters the clothing factory here closed the factory and moved overseas.  I let the credit cards know this.  When I started working were I am now, even though I had credit card insurance I still paid them all off.   I owe no old bills and pay all current bills over minimum payment required.

I have had trouble with Source Receivables Management since I moved back to my hometown and got my new phone #. They are looking for someone, and I am not him. I have asked repeatedly to have my number removed from their call list;their response was to start blocking their number so caller I.D. would not pick it up. I went back through my old phone records and pulled it out.Called them immediately and filed what I thought was a formal complaint. It did no good. The calls started again within 3 days. When I filed what I thought was a complaint I informed that my next action would be to contact my state Atty. General. I am mailing this complaint today. I have asked for a written letter of apology, and the guarantee that my number be removed from their records. Also that the Atty. Gen. seek any and all legal remedies at his disposal. My bills are paid each month in full and on time. It is not my fault that deadbeats are alive and well. Thank you for allowing me a forum to vent.[ P.S. this collection agency has class action lawsuits against them in several states if you are being harassed you should check to see if you qualify to join in your state.]

The actual call is coming from 336-358-4900, but they leave a message to call the 866 number. They've also left a reference number, but I have yet to return the call. They don't even say who they are. And of course it's an automated message. I'm not certain I feel comfortable calling this number...

They are called NCO Portfolios/Source Receivables Management.  Actually they are somehow related to Bank of America.  I only know this because I happened to be speaking to Bank of America that same day in relation to a completely different matter and then I happened to get a phone call from the exact number you stated above, saying this is an urgent matter and to call them back.  The number was Bank of America's number!  They seem fraudulent to me because when I told them I have a message on my vm stating that this is Bank of America, yet they do not introduce themselves as such, the rep said yes we are a part of Bank of America but I bet you can't prove it!

When I called back, it said that the person at that extension was unavailable and that I should leave a message. Why shoud I leave a message if i dont know what the call is about or who even called me in the first place?! SMELLS LIKE A SCAM TO ME!!! Especially when I am current on ALL of my bills...SMH

I contacted NCO financial because they keep calling for something or other and my machine cuts them off before they can leave a number and I don't have caller Id. I was told by NCO that the account in question is with Genesis Financial and that the collector to contact is Source Receivables at 1-866-938-8060 however when I call that number it says there is nobody there and to leave a message for that extension? From what I have been told NCO, Genesis Financial and Source Receivables are one in the same company simply using different subsidiary names.
