Repeatedly get these calls - never laves a message.

this company calls us all the time and we have asked to be taken off the list.

Many charitable organizations use the services of Apogee, the company behind the "Charity pick up" you see on your caller ID. Apogee coordinates the donations and picks up goods in many regional areas. The company operates thrift stores to resell the items. A portion of the money earned from the resale of items is then given to the named charity. So, when someone calls and identifies themselves as calling from the Lupus Foundation or Friendship Ventures, for example, they are really calling on behalf of the charity.

When you called back and the person didnt seem to know what they were talking about... it was probably because you reached a call center where people work to solicit donations for numerous non profit organizations.

Having worked for a charitable organization that benefited from these donations, I understand that many people find these calls to be a nuissance (we received calls regularly). However, the amount of money we recieved annually (as a result of these donations) helped to justify the annoyance to some because it allowed us to further our mission and serve a greater number of people in need. Please make an attempt to understand the reasons behind the phone calls and if you do not wish to receive them, ask to be taken off of the list when you receive a call from "charity pick up". Calling the named charity will probably not remove your number from any list.

Called at 8:50pm. Identified himself as calling from "Friendship Ventures"

Received a call from 866-959-2267.  Answered call & got dead air.  It hung up on it's own after 20 seconds.

Didn't answer.  Calls daily several times

No message, just a hang up

They call me daily.  The caller ID says "Charity Pickup."  Once I answered and it was for "The Lupus Foundation" to schedule a pick up of donations.  I think local charities may be pooling with these folks as a central scheduling center.  VERY ANNOYING!

Called the number back and got "Friendship Ventures."  Asked to be removed from their call list and they were very polite about it.

Like 'mjl,' I also called Friendship Ventures (at 1-800-450-8376) and asked to be removed from their call list.

I spoke with Debbie, who was very polite, apologized and removed my number from their list. It took 30 seconds.

They call me almost every day... I have never donated to the "Lupus Foundation" so it's incredibly annoying.

We have also received calls from this number.  The caller id shows Charity Pickup.  They NEVER leave a message and call several times a week.

I had Kate's exact experience. I saw that others were successful in calling and getting their number removed from the Friendship Ventures list. So I called too. Talked to a very friendly lady named Julie and she took care of it quickly. One down...

I receive calls all the time form this "Charity Pick UP"   I called back and
asked the answerer ... what is this?   he stammered and said he
did nt really know what to say.  I asked to have my number removed and was
told it would take 48 hrs.... VERY UNHAPPY and so shifty.   ANNOYING to say the least.
If a good organization was being represented wold they not be proud to
say what they are?
