So disappointed with automated calls from "Verizon".  They say they are trying to provide good customer service to you by making sure you are on the best plan.  How about having an actual person call me if you are so concerned about me as a customer?  I was already planning to leave when my contract expires in March.  Thanks for giving me the extra push I needed to check into the other companies.  Treat me as a customer or I will leave your company - done  *Also posted on the number they actually called from which was 888-871-0778

Got a call from this number on my cell phone yesterday. Missed the call, they left a message.  The message states that it's Verizon Wireless and they'd like me to call them back regarding my account. I didn't think anything was out of the ordinary, so I called back today only to hear "The number you have reached is not in service."  Why am I not surprised?

I answered my phone & the following message played: "We apologize for not being about to take your call about your Verizon Wireless account. Please call us back at 1-866-997-2588." When I called back the line went dead. I tried again & the same thing happened.

Called this number back. It was indeed Verizon wireless wanting me to renew my contract. However, I renewed it a month ago. They called about 3 times a day for a week, and never left a message.

This is a Verizon Wireless marketing company.
Send Verizon an email from your online account requesting to be taken off their "Do Not Call/Solicit List".
If you are not a Verizon Wireless customer call them and request the same thing.

After receiving almost a dozen calls from this number and getting hung up on I finally called this number back.  It is Verizon wireless.  I am not a verizon customer and never have been.  I told them to stop calling me and then when the operator tried to explain to me why they were persistently calling my number.  I finally got my revenge and told them I didn't care for any excuses and I hung up the phone on them for a change.  Feels GOOD!

Okay, lets clear a few things up. This number belongs to TMC. We have been hired by a company called Kipany who has been hired by Verizon Wireless to assist their customers in renewing their agreements and in return offering one of the promotions at the time. The promotions could be a free month, extra minutes, discounted phones, etc...
It is not illegal for us to call you, even if you are on the national do not call list. You have a relationship with Verizon Wireless and have given them the best number to contact you when you signed up for your service.
There are no tricks or scams We are simply making you aware of what  you are eligible for, thats it.
The calls are placed thru an auto dialer. When it calls it does not know your schedule. It doesn't know if you are at dinner or work, it doesn't know if you are in the car or at home. Its just doing what it was programmed to do.
If you do call us back, we have to have some way to verify who we are speaking with, this is why we ask for the last four of the social. We have it in front of us, but thats all we have. We do not have the whole social there. If you would like to place a password on your account customer service can assist you with that and we can verify that instead of the last four of your ssn.

Glad to know that this can best be ignored. It should probably be reported to the FTC and FCC.

I also just got a call, returned the call and they claimed to be from Verizon.  They immediately asked for my last four of my SSN, and I didn't feel comfortable with that, so they told me to stop by a VZW store isntead.  It's suspect in my opinion.

Took about 3 minutes to get added to the marketing DNC list. Verizon was very helpful and apologetic. People need to grow up, stop freaking out, and add themselves to the list if this is such a life-destroying ordeal for them.

This happened to me a few months ago - I called verizon wireless itself and they said they knew nothing about it and blocked the # from my account. The number has been calling me back again over the last couple of weeks and nothing happens when I answer. I just called the number now to ask about it. When you first call, a recording says if you have any questions about your bill or about technical problems, hang up and call ..... but if you have a question about your account please stay on the line and a sales person will assist you. A sales person answered, had me tell him my cell phone #. Then he asked for the last 4 digits of my SSN and i said i didn't feel comfortable giving him that information. He went through the whole speal about safety, making sure someone isn't calling to pretend it's me, etc. I said, well can you answer this for me - I have been getting a call from this number every day and when I answer there is no one on the line. - he said "yes, on your account it says there has been the computer generated calls every day" - i said "what are the computer generated calls for?" he said he could not tell me anything else unless i gave him my SSN. I then asked what company he worked for since he answered "on behalf of verizon" and he said TMC.

Why should we have to take 3 minutes of our time to get off of their list? And frankly I doubt it would take only 3 minutes. If we had to do that for every scam artist who called us, it would be a major waste of time.

In fact, why should we even call them, when they do not identify themselves? They're a phone company and they don't have their caller ID working? Obviously that was intentional.

They're knowingly in violation of the law. We need legal action. Otherwise every sleazy company will feel free to do the same. It's like those music thieves. They only want to pay for each song they got caught stealing.

If you gave us the contact number to contact you on, then that is what the computer dials. If you gave us the house number, then that is what is called.

They are not Verizon, so your minutes are being used up. Keep this in mind if you feel like yelling and ranting at the poor representative who got stuck with your number when the dialer randomly dialed.

Your number, whether it's AT&T or a hourse phone, was provided as a main contact number by someone who signed up with Verizon Wireles, so take your frustrations out on that customer.

They don't find your number online so the National Do Not Call List does not apply to Verizon Wireless or any of its third parties who got the phone number directly from the customer.

Verizon Wireless hired a company(Kipany) to hire another company (TMC) to be their promotions department and notify thier current customers of what they're eligible for at no cost to them, or at discounted prices that not everyone is eligible for. Some people love it, some don't care for it. It's still best that they're informed.

The dialer calls these numbers automatically but the rep is not connectly quickly enough and the customer usually hangs up after only one "Hello?". It's no one's fault except maybe the technology.

TMC is advised to not leave voicemails because the representatives are supposed to verify the customer's ID before giving out any information or explaining the purpose of their call.

I once heard that a rep gave out information to a customer's husband, who was not on the authorized users list, and didn't know his wife had a secret call phone. You could only guess what she was doing with it. It's safe to say she was furious about the violation of her privacy.

The best way to stop the calls is to ask to be put on the do not call list. By law, they have to read you a disclosure to be recorded and reviewed by another department, which is why it may take up to 30 days to go through. You could either listen to the disclosure details, or hang up to save yourself 45 seconds. As long as you asked for it, they have to put you on that list.

Please don't be nasty to the rep. They're not at fault for the way that things work. That's why I quit working there. The customers are meaner and more bothersome than the phone calls themselves.
