You can either change your number and not give it out when or if you order from any magazines/catalogs, because if you block the number he will get a different number he has been calling my grandma for a year as far as if she doesn't answer he will keep calling untill she dose(he calls about 30-60 times a day) he will stop calling if you pick up the phone and tell him off then leave your phone off the hook for about 5mins doing that will give you about 2-3 days of peace from him. Unformally I can not do really anything to get him to stop calling her because I have already changed her number 4 times now but since she likes to buy thing from the magazine/catalogs or from the late night tv adds he ends up getting her number again the FBI just told me what I can do to stop it and the same for the cops

Adam, you might be surprised to learn that over 30,000 calls are placed DAILY from Jamaica to the United States for the purpose of trying to swindle/extort money. In most cases, these foul smelling creatures have only your phone number and will try to extract additional information from you using the ruse of trying to verify your correct name/address so they can deliver the prize package.

I was first contacted by these filthy, little animals, when I received a call from something calling itself "John Baker" (today it was "James Faulkner".) In any event, this "John" was calling to tell me I had won 2.5 million dollars from "Mega Millions" in Las Vegas. It instructed me to get a Green Dot Money card from CVS, load it with $499.25 to pay for my "registration fees." A few days after this call, I was shocked to see this particular scam featured on ABC World News. During that segment, they played the audio of a conversation between an elderly woman - who had already sent them $85,000 - and one of these black stained rodents.

When these roaches call again - which they will - please record the call and share that information here in this forum. Please include your area code - JUST your area code - along with your posting name. Thanks.

PS. Was you "David White's" middle name, "Notso?" Filthy animals.

I received a call late in the afternoon, letting me know by a certain "David White" that I had won 25,000 dollars and Mercedes Benz from a company that he would not be very clear about. I could hear cars in the background which made me suspicious. He started giving me a set of numbers and then to write down the name of a "green.moneypack reloadable card" That made me wonder why would I need something like that If I had won that amount of money. Then he told me to go to a Home Depot. That is when I realized it was a scheme because he told me I had to buy a 500 dollar card. I can't believe this actually happened.

DO NOT return the call from someone calling from a 876 area code.
This is not a toll free "800" number, it is the international long distance code for the island nation of Jamaica. You are charged international and long distance rates for calling this number. Other international/long distance area codes are 809, 284, and 649.
http://www.att.net/smartcontrols-809AreaCode

Scammers use these numbers to not only try to scam you out of money, but also sting you with high phone call rates.

Also:
It is a scam:
http://info.pch.com/consumer-information/fraud-protection

They never require any money, purchases, taxes, fees, or deposits of any kind to get your prize.

Publishers Clearing House DOES NOT call, email, FAX, mail, any advanced notice that you have won.

"If you are ever contacted by someone claiming to represent PCH, or claiming to be one of our employees,  and asked to send or wire money (for any reason whatsoever, including taxes); or send a pre-paid gift card or Green Dot Moneypak card in order to claim a sweepstakes prize ? DON?T!  It?s a SCAM. If you are sent a check, told it?s a partial prize award, and asked to cash it and send a portion back to claim the full prize award, DON?T.  The check is fake, but the SCAM is real!

Publishers Clearing House does not operate this way and would NEVER ask for money to claim a prize award.  PCH employees would never contact you personally or in advance to notify you of a prize award.  Our prize awards are presented just the way you see in our popular TV commercials, ?live and in person? by our Prize Patrol, with balloons, champagne and check in hand - - and with no advance notification!"

Several phone calls from this number saying I won 2.5 million dollars and a BMW. Telling me to stay home, we're going to deliver it today. First call I ever got from them sounded like a bad cell connection from a club. Googled their number and found this. I feel bad for the people that fell for this scam!

Oh and to add, we had spoke to one of them on another occasion after we got rude with them and tried to tell them were not interested and that one of their employees threatened us because we wouldn't give him our money which they were wanting anything we could give even if it was five bucks which is suspicious as well) the man said his apologies and assured us the man was dealt with and then began to say how he was part of some government in a federal agency dealing with fraud and things like that and assured us they were legit. We then ended up having to tell them she had died and we were grieving over her and the man still persisted and asked if I wanted the prize and if I had any money. I said no and he asked if I even had a little bit and I said no. They stopped for about six months and now the calls have started again.

I hear you guys. I've been getting these calls to from a POTS Phone JM number: 876-823-6953 I currently reside with my grandmother that's around 90yrs old. They kept trying to reach her through us saying she had won money and a black Mercedes. We politely declined over and over and they constantly called back finally we got nasty with them and in turn they got ugly said things like I know where you live etc etc different guys but they all had a strong accent I want to say Arabic or Indian could be wrong. They also used different variations of those JM registered numbers. I honestly think they're preying on older folks.

GramaLou, thank you for sharing your experience.

In researching this particular scam, I learned that there are over 30,000 calls made DAILY from Jamaica to the US for the purpose of trying to swindle/extort money. Sadly, many unsuspecting people - especially the elderly - do become victims. The name of  the lottery/contest varies (e.g. Publishers Clearing House, Mega Millions, Monthly Winners Club) but the basic scam is fairly consistent. The urging to "keep your winnings confidential," also seems to be a common thread, as these rodents are surely aware, if the supposed winner (aka victim) discusses this scheme with other people, there is a much greater likelihood, they will hear, "IT'S A SCAM!"

Just when I thought I was FINALLY finished with these filthy, little animals, I received a call from someone claiming his name was "John Felix" (what is it with these clowns - do they think every white person in the US has "John" for a first name?) In any event, this "John" was calling to tell me I had won 3.5 million dollars! As it turns out, this SHLF (Sub Human Life Form) was NOT connected to the scam operation that had contacted me two weeks earlier. In that scheme, I was contacted by a "John Baker" who instructed me to get a Green Dot Money card from CVS to pay my registration fees because I had won 2.5 million!

Most of these calls are being placed via Magic Jack and the audio quality is very poor. So poor, in fact, I had to abandon my recording of this most recent call just to understand the worthless porch monkey. In order to once again pay for "registration fees of 5%," I was instructed to obtain a Money Gram for $499.25 and that I would be sending it to "Lloyd David Cook, 5201 S. Vermont Ave, Los Angeles, CA." As it turns out that is the address of a sort of homeless rehab facility.

If you receive any more calls, PLEASE try to record them as this particular scam is now the target of a Federal probe using the code name, JOLT.

They keep calling here (as early as 6 am, & we are NOT early risers). Finally, I answered, just to tell them to quit calling, & the man w/an accent that made him sound "retarded", yelled at me that this was Mr. Michael & it was important. He had a pkg for my husband.  Among 3 phone calls w/both of us talking to him, we finally deduced that we were supposed to pick it up at WalMart, but my husband swore he hadn't ordered anything.  He also said that we had to pick up a green card for 299 (which I interpreted as 2.99 until I read the notes here) & gave us a code #.  He insisted that we had to have the right change, & that this was confidential & we couldn't tell anyone.

I suggested that we call WalMart & report it, but first, I checked online & was amazed that so many other people have had similar experiences. Also, my husband has fallen for several Publisher's Clearing House scams, so I wouldn't be surprised if our info came from them.  He did say that he had to list his age on the forms he filled out, & it appears that they are targeting older people (he is 78).  Like others have said, it bothers me that they have so much information about us (he also kept repeating our address).

i fecieve a call from  POTS phone JM and there # is 1-876-375-3232 the guy over the phone said that i won a $3.5 M dollars and a car.. all i said is i dont entered a raffle.. he told me to check that they are legit they have a website so they gave me.. its USSweeptakes Fullfilment Co. anyhow i got a feeling its a scam i recieved a call twice saying that i won a $3.5 M and a brand new car... its so surprising when you didnt even enter a raffle draw or sign up for the raffle.. plus it made me more confuse that i need to pay the shipping and handling by buying the gift card worth the amount of $395 so i thought its a scam.. caused all i know you dont need to pay a thing when you win a prize.. and if ever you won the noticed that you won is not thru phone calls its either by mail but since mail is also full of scams this days you cant trust that too.. so how will you detect that you really won the prize... truts your guts if u entered the raffle draw that is if  you dont entered a raffle draw and you win thats a scam for sure.. this is the 2nd time i recieve the same winning prize lol lucky me if only if its true..  so be aware of those people who called your house.. they'll try to convince you that they r legit.. i check the website that they gave me and i saw the term and conditions and so on and on but its very unclear to me that i win but i never entered the raffle draw etc whatever they calls it..  oh theres one very suspicious thing is.. when your insde the office you'll hear people working and busy phones ringing and other stuff inside the office.. and when they transfer you to another person who will explain the details or if you want a further explaination its so fast no rings at all just hello this is blah blah blah change voice.. you know when you call school or hospitals for appointment they goin to transfer you to the person or the clinic you want to speak with.. you hear the ring back tones or the ringing sound but this caller they dont have that.. so i said i wil consult my mom about this and the guy said okie you can call me back and gave me the number.. 876-296-3239 and  when i call back he answered and he said why i cant see your number.. and i said huh what? you cant see my number but you guys called me earlier??? so i was confused and said what why and the guy over the phone said its BLOCKED and start saying do you have a personal cellphone..? and i said now its a scam.. they start to ask personal things.. anyway i wish someone will take some actions and stop the phone scam..

so i ask one small detail if i decided to claim the prize if they gonna deliver it and say yes and i said how bout the checked and he offered we will accompany you to the bank if you want..  oh well thats a legit if they will accompany you to the bank of america.. anyway people who get phone calls to these kind of calls beware and be careful.. if they are legit you wont pay a cent for the prize you won thats how raffle draws... i dont know if its real or not... i simply dont trust people who calls my phone saying you won a prize? i hope some actions to be done...

I have received a call from this number ?(876)363-8340 and I was told that I won $2.5mil and a Mercedes benz! I asked him how is that possible, his response was: you have been a selected caller. I told him that this does not make sense due to the fact that I haven't registered or applied for any games.

I knew it was scheme, so I entertained him a little bit!in addition to that, he told me to buy a card at walmart add send him $500! So I asked him, "how is this possible if I won $2.5mil,why don't u deduct $400 from the $2.5mil"?. He said in response, "he will have to speak to his manager about it"! Ever since that, I have been receiving calls (5calls) in less than one hour!

Do not accept his phone call, if a(876)# calls, don't pick up its for your own good
