Vikki,  we have learned that there is a hierarchy among these foul smelling chiggers who are calling using the "PCH" variant of this scam. The first black stained rodent who calls can barely speak English and is reading from a script. Its job is solely to hook you. If you hang up quickly, as you did, it merely moves on to the next number - the next potential victim. If it thinks it has you hooked, it will pass your number on to a "manager," who is essentially a more skilled con artist who will call you back. When these vile creatures call again - and they will - please:

1) Answer the phone and try to prolong the call (ask it to repeat information: its name, its location, etc.)
2) Frustrate the caller (if it appears to be in a hurry, talk even more slowly. If it talks slowly, speak rapidly. A frustrated chigger makes mistakes.)
3) Determine exactly what information it has about you (usually it is just your phone number and perhaps your first name. Unfortunately, in one variant of this scheme this vile creature DOES have most of your personal information.)

YES, I understand that using the tactics I describe here do take up your time - BUT - if you understood that by investing some of your time you are helping to prevent someone else's parent or grand parent from being robbed, wouldn't you want to that?

Since tomorrow is Thanksgiving it is unlikely these black stained Jamaican rodents will be active (even the dumbest chigger knows this is a holiday in the US.) Sadly, the domestic charity scams will be active!

Thanks
Vikki

A guy calls and said he hays a cashiers check for me for $3.5mil from Reno,NV and they are going to send it to my house. I told him to take my name off the call list and he argued and asked me why I wanted to be removed. I told him that this was a scam and hung up. But then he called right back and I told him I wasn't interested and to remove me from the list and hung up.

They called while I was at work and told my wife they had a package for me.  They wouldn't tell her where it was from.  She asked what company was this person calling from and the best she could understand was American Casualty Company in NY. NY. The caller said when I called back, they would give us the information she was asking for.

This is a lottery scam by phone from a jamaican number. They try to tell you they're calling from the states but they aren't. The person will actually try to find out how much money you have if you tell them to stop calling or that you don't want their bogus money.
Just hang up on them as they will keep leaving messages for you to call them back.
