Things to believe:

? There ain't no such thing as a free lunch.
? If it looks too good to be true, it probably is.
? You have not won big bucks from a benign benefactor, a pot of pesos from PCH, dinero from a doctor, or a grant from a gracious government
? The tooth fairy really does not exist
? Everything you read on the internet is not necessarily true.
? It is illegal to pay money for a loan or prize, BEFORE getting the loan or prize!
? "Free Trips" are loaded with mandatory & costly extras, and you usually must give them your card number after listening to a loooong spiel at a hotel.
? Microsoft or one of their agents did NOT cold call you to fix your computer.
? The moon is not made of green cheese.
? The IRS will snailmail you, rather than phone you, if there is a problem.
? Jackalope milk is not an aphrodisiac.
? If you "green dot" or Western Union money to a scammer, the money is gone.
? You should beware of Greeks bearing gifts, specially if the gift is a wooden horse.

got a call, publishers house, big prize

I received two calls from this number, from a "Michael Anderson." The first was a couple of weeks ago at 3:30 am my time and then second just this morning at 8am. I'll be blocking this number from my phone, but it would be nice if there were somewhere we could report them in general. I'd hate to think that folks might be getting duped by these crooks.

Call from this number stating it was PCH and informing me of being a 2nd place winner.  Each time he finished a sentence, which wasn't asking a question, he would check to see if I was still on the line by saying "hello, still there?"  When I told him that his habit indicated that he must have been hung up on several times for him to always verify, he got a little flustered and stated that he wasn't doing that and that this was just his job . . .  I ended the call at that point.

Just received a call from this number.  I won a Publisher's Clearing House prize...NOT!!!  The man's name was Micheal Anderson and he was with Publisher's Clearing House.  He had a very thick accent asking me to call them back at this number.

I just got a call from this joker. He had a very convincing spiel but the one rule of thumb is not to believe you won a prize from Publisher's Clearinghouse ($100,000 in this case) or any other sweepstakes if it costs you money to collect.  He said that they are calling me and asking me to buy some kind of green card from CVS or Wallgreens for $300.  The reason for this is because a lot of gamblers try to scam and they need to verify US!..

I got this call three times in the past month.  He was trying to give me a free car.  Please somebody get this guys number blocked.  Very annoying.

These people call everyday!  I win about 2 million a week with these people and I tell them that we know they are scam artist and they get very mad! But I guess not mad enough because they call again and again. Since we are retired I really don't care that they call maybe one day they will get fed up.

I just got a call from a Jamaican sounding man who said his name was David Miller.  He told me I won a Mercedes benz and I just needed to send him $599 for the paperwork and they would deliver it to me.  I called the Meford NY Police Department where he said was from and they said they couldn't do anything about it. Later, I went on this site and discovered there are thousands of us who they are trying to scam!  Somebody has to stop these people.

Five calls within 30 minutes the evening of 3/4/10. Call was answered by answering machine. No message left.
