Areacode 876 is NOT "Toll Free"! in fact it's quite the opposite! It can bill at a very high rate! DO NOT CALL THEM BACK!!!!

I received just such a message on my answering machine from a chap who identified himself as Steve, saying he was with Publishers Clearing House, calling from 876-440-6758. He left a call-back number and when I returned the call, believing the 876 number to be a toll free number, I heard just a request to leave a message. I identified myself as the person he had been trying to reach. He called again from a different number, (202-506-8142), once again leaving a message on my answering machine. I returned the call and he said, "Hold a minute for instructions from John Gallimore." I listened to instructions for me to go to Wal-Mart and buy three $400 cards, one each from Pay Pal, Green Dot and Money Pak. I told him that Publishers Clearing House didn't operate that way and he hung up. Checking the area codes I discovered the locations from which the calls "originated." The 876 area code is a non-toll number in Kingston, Jamaica and the 202 area code is for Washington, D.C.
Clearly a Publishers Clearing House employee is selling lists of contestant with phone numbers to scam artists. If Publishers Clearing House isn't tracking this down, perhaps PCH itself is involved.

He just scammed $500 frm my friend and said she won &100,000....so upset. His name is Steve Hunter and had her wire the money to a Richard Diaz in Brandon, Fl. Richard Diaz is a sex offender in Brandon, Fl. He then asked for another $1000 and said she would get $900,000. She reported it to the police and we will see what happens.......

Yeah, I got a call just like liz did. Everything she said is exactly what the Jamaican said. I knew it was too good to be true.

A man called this a.m. (with a difficult accent) informing me that he was with Publishers Clearing House and that I had won 1 million dollars. I "played" along, knowing fully that it was a scam. He told me I was to go to the local Walmart and purchase a Paypal green dot money card for $300. I was then supposed to call him back and they would then come to my house and escort me to the bank where I was to receive my money. We notified the police...just to see if they knew who was behind this. They didn't but told us not to do anything.
