I got the same message - but it was on my mother's answering machine. The given this time was (313) 334-3113. How did you search the phone number? I would like to do that, too.

Same thing, message, case & affidavit number, 24-48 hours to oppose, yadda yadda, restraining order etc. It's different number they're using now - 1 774-221-8770. I'm certain that they are using an autodialer with an outgoing message and they switch up the outgoing "caller id" number from time to time because sites like these exist and burn the existing numbers. DO NOT USE your own phone to return their call. COMPLAIN TO THE FCC. They're breaking the law by NOT PAYING the FCC's required licensing fee, if nothing else, and the FCC will work to track them down. May or may not be operating inside the states. I know about the techniques these scum-suckers operate with.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>

I got the same call today, some voicemail about a Cashnet payday loan from 2006.  I called back and the woman I spoke with wanted a payment today, told her I didn't know what she was talking about.  She said I'd be receiving a subpoena in the mail advising me of my court date.  I'm glad to know this is a scam, I didn't remember Cashnet but I have defaulted on a payday loan in the past and it would have been about that time I think.  Where do they get this information from???

First of all, they violate FDCPA in telling you that you're involved in a legal matter over the phone.  If you are involved in a legal matter, it is their obligation to provide you evidence and then serve you with a subpoena, not legally threaten you over the phone.  Second, I called the number back.  The company's name is Global Legal Processors but I can't find them online.  I called them, was on a 10 minute hold.  Then a guy answered.  Wanted my social security number.  I didn't give it to him.  He tried reciting it back to me, in which he was correct but I still told him that I was not going to say yes or no.  He hung up.  Called back.  Two minute hold time this time with the same guy answering.  I informed him that his company violated the FDCPA.  He berated me for not giving him information in the first phone call.  I then asked if I was being recorded and he said yes.  Then I informed him he just violated the FCC because he (or the recording) is supposed to state at the TOP of the call that I am being recorded and to give me info on how to opt out.  He told me he was not giving me any information because I wasn't giving him information.  I will be turning these guys into the State Attorney General.  I suggest you all do the same.

Received a message that a warrant would be issued if I did not contact my attorney in 48 hours and settle the matter. They said they were an investigation unit. I paid out $900 to a fraud group like this 4 years ago. They are a total fraud, but they are getting better at it. Now it is a recorded message instead of a live person. I will never fall for this again.

I received a call from Global Legal Processors and they told me I was involved in a civil litigation and it might involve a restraining order as well over a debt. This was from an advance payday loan that I had taken out and still owed money on. They call me at work and call me all the time on my cell phone. Please block these calls.

Got a call from this number threatening a lawsuit and restraining order.  Sounds like a scam to me.  They are asking for a $500 settle on a $1,000 outstanding balance. they claim it was a payday loan which is illegal in the state of Arizona.

I received the same call on my home phone and a case number. I worked for collections agencies in the past and this did seem right to me. I didn't know what the recording was talking about. I called the number and was holding for 20 minutes before hanging up. I spoke with others who confirmed this sounds like a scam.
