I got the same call saying I won 850,000 as a 2nd place winner, these people will tell you to stay on the phone an not talk to anyone about it, It's a scam trying to get your money

Scam call about winning money for better homes and gardens sweepstakes! Total Scam...

Got a call from "UPS" today (apparently UPS is jn Jamaica as well) saying that a brand new Mercedes was waiting for me along with 350,000 for a one time shipping fee of 150. I played along until he brought up the fee. Then I quickly got off the phone and googled it. Haha. Most definitely a scam.

Got a call from this number, they said the same thing.  I knew it was a scam because it was from a 876 number.  I went through the motions and sounded happy to win.  She asked for the money to send and I told her to call my secretary at work and she would set up the funds.  The number I gave her to call was the local F.B.I office.  Wish I could see her face when they answer.  

Notified me I had won 2nd place in Better Homes & Gardens random drawing.  I prodded hard to find out if this was a scam.  They asked no personal information and said they would schedule the prize to be delivered to my address.  Went through all the details.  Asked me to purchase a Green Dot MoneyPak card.  I was stupid enough to do it and give them the number.  Next they wanted me to buy a Gold Stamp to certify the check I would be receiving.  I came uncorked on them and insisted any money that had been taken be refunded.  Still waiting for that. What a Sucker I am!  Don't fall for it, they have their story down tight.

So the call went like this earlier today.
John Winston explained that I had been randomly selected as the 2nd place winner of $550k and a 2013 Honda CRV. This was a package that was waiting for me to claim. He said, all I had to do was "cooperate." Knowing it was a scam but curious I played dumb so I could get more info. To cooperate I would need to select 1 of 3 options.
1) To accept the package. Which is apparently delivered by two U.S. Marshalls and a lawyer after I give my address. He assured me package contains a 100% certified check. lol.
2) To give the money to charity
3) To decline the prize so it can be offered to someone else.

He started asking If I shop at Walmart, Kmart, Target or my local supermarket. Then, I started questioning him and his credentials, this idiot said the prize was given from the U.S. government. Specifically the "Better Home and Gardens" department. lol that's a magazine for moms. He finally hung up on me when I started to ask him specific questions about his website, if I could pick up the package.
The funny part was I could hear a baby crying or making baby noises in the background. Poor kid.

I looked into the scam.  The area code is located in Jamaica and not an 800 number. I hope I don't get charged by Verizon!! They eventually want you to pay the taxes or fees before you can claim the prize. As already stated by other post, they want you to purchase GreenDotCash cards or similar, load them with money, and have you provide the card number where they then easily and secretly transfer the funds out of the account. To which account? IDK. But good luck getting your money back.

Same scam, but the prize money has jumped to $550K and new Honda SUV.  Better Homes and Garden Sweeps is the intro.

Got the same call this morning -- glad I check it as I was talking to him. Was told all the same stuff everyone else here was -- 2 US marshalls, $350K plus 2013 Honda CRV as second place winner, from HGTV, got my number because I shop at Smiths, Walgreens, Walmart or a bunch of other stores, blah blah blah. Sounded like he was getting into his car and driving around when we talked. People are too scummy.

I got a call from this guy this morning Jamaica number 876-441-8852 say I won $350,000 and  Honda CRV the prize going to be delivered today with atty and US Marshall's the more questions I asked about where the car was coming from and how they got my information the person would repeat the same information. I knew this was leading into a scam I figured it would be fun to mess with these a$$holes setting this up

Received a call on my cell from a individual claiming to be John Winston.  He stated that I had been selected a a 2nd place winner for the Better Home & Gardens Promotion and Honda CRV give away.  He gave me instruction to claim my prize that I would have to go to CVS, Walgreens, or Walmart to purchase a Green Dot Money Scratch Card with CASH.  He said he would stay on the line with me till I make the transaction at the store and he would coordinate the delivery of the check for 399,999.00 and vehicle via UPS and escorted by 2 US Marshals and 2 Company Attorneys, in which he named one attorney as David Lee Banks.  When I asked him if I could speak to his Manager he said they weren't available. When I asked him what his positionw was at the company he hung up on me....  I could hear kids in the background and he said he was calling from his office in Chicago but the number search for the number said it was from Jamaica.....  SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM

I received six phone calls from this number. 4 times last night and 2 times this morning. After seeing the above comments I'm also glad I didn't answer.

I had two calls from this # on 3-25-13.  I did not answer because it said Jamaica.  Glad I didn't answer.  My cell is supposed to be on the Do Not Call list.

As bad as everyone says this number is, im glad I didn't answer.

I got a call yesterday afternoon right when I got off of work. He said he was from PCH and i won 350K and a 2012 CRV.  He kept saying congratulations and that I should be very excited. When I asked him how he got my phone number he said that he got it from wal-mart, CVS, and the local grocery store. It's funny because i haven't been to wal-mart or CVS in forever and he couldn't tell me the name of the "local grocery store".  I just laughed and told him that i'll believe it when they show up with the balloons. As soon as I mentioned it sounded like a scam he hung up.  I can't believe people still try scams like this lol

I got a call from this number.  Caller ID said it was from Jamaica.  I could hear kids in the background, obviously not a call center.  He asked me if I wanted to claim my prize, donate it to a charity, or decline it.  I said donate it to a charity.  He hung up.  Who actually falls for these scams to make it profitable for them to continue?  If you send any money to these people you got what you deserve.  A fool and his money are soon parted.

I GUESS THEY CANT GET A REAL JOB. GET A JOB AS A FISHERMAN.

Called my cell phone two hours before my wake-up time. Jamaican b*****ds.

Got a call from this idiot this afternoon. Told me to get a green.money pack card from walmart and put 399.00 on it for the taxes for the 350,000 and a 2012 Honda CRV (funny since I  already have a honda CRV.) and that he was from the Publishing Clearing House. I told him I was living paycheck to paycheck and got him down to 35.00... wth. Anyway told him to call me back in 2 hours because I was in the middle of no where when he called. We will see if he bothers to call back...I wasted about 30 min of his time before he said he'd call me back.

Got one this morning. Same crap: UrbanOasis, his name was Thomas I think. $350K and a Honda CRV. My flag went up when he told me my deliver would come with 2 US Marshals. BWAH-HA! So I did similar things you all did: asked him to give me the info required, email me the form, etc. He kept talking in circles. I finally said "ok then, I make enough money, I choose option C, pass: I don't want to accept this prize". And he said "This is not a scam, you have already won this money" and I said "Then why do you care if I pass?" Scammers need to smarten up.

This guy calls me and said I have won 350,000 and a new car he wanted me to go and get a green card from Walmart for 399.00 and I would have all my money and new car so I keep him on the phone for 30 min. and told him to call me back a 5:00 and I will have it. So when he call back I will keep him on the phone a litle longer but not give him any money. SCAM

I just received a call from this same number as well (876) 441-8852 on my cell. Stating I had won 350K and a Honda CRV.....and I immediatley thought this is a TOTAL SCAM. So I immediately went online while they were on the phone and saw this website. I didn't even let them get to the part where they asked for my acct. number. Thank you to whoever started this post(;

i Got a call from this guy about a month ago and i decided to waste his time. i kept him on the phone for about an hour and a half. i told him i was on my way to get the gift card with $450.00. he was going for it for a while until he heard me eating my lunch i told him to hold for a minute and kept him on speaker phone while i fu*ked off on facebook for about 30 mins. He called me back this morning and i didn't have time to waste with him so i told him to F off.

They are still at it. I had several calls today from the names (williams, thomas) same story urban oasis foundation. Got my number from CVS pharmacy so on and so forth. What is anyone going to do. They even said their foundation is associated with HGTV can you believe that. Also same hipe They claim I won $350,000 and the Honda crv. PEOPLE DON'T LET THEM SCAM YOU HANG UP QUICK AND SAME YOUR TIME

Got a call this morning on my cell! No fees to receive the gift, which should have been $350.000 cash. He said he got my number from CVS (WHAT?!!) and they also have some databases from Walmart pharmacies. I even told him that I thought it was scam and he kept going ahead with the gift list. I asked him to have everything written in an e-mail, which he refused, keeping telling me that I needed to complete a form by phone (don't they have a e-mail spamming service too?); he wanted  me to give him account #, bank, etc to deposit the money, also. I just hang up. People, wake up!!

Got a call this morning, said my husband won a car and over a million dollars.  Gave me a phoney address is Chicago, Said his name is George William. He apparently got my husband's name from the CVS, which really makes me mad and also said that he was affiliated with PCH. Finally said that they buy names from PCH.  What a scam, I told him I would have my husband call him back.  He kept telling me that we didn't need to pay any money to get the gift.

This guy called my cell. When I said hello he said good morning and hang up. I don't know what his motive for calling my cell.

Michael thomas contacted me about $350,000, and a honda CRV I had won. He said he was egyptian but currently in washington dc. According to him... there are no corners in the oval office, jesus christ is a mexican, and black people can't be trusted. I hhave almost 2 hours tied up with him. He thinks I've mailed $125.99 to a po box in dickinson tx. And I'm supposed to put money on a prepaid card for him too. What an idiot. And people really fall for this.

This number keeps calling.

he told u $399.. i guess he went down in a fee price cause he just told me 198.99..lol This is a total scam..but i was drunk so i played along, i got so far in the conversation that he told me to go to a western union and send the money to a jamaican address..i started laughing out loud..and i told him to go F- - - - him self..wow

Got a call saying they had a certified package there that had a prize and a car ect

kept him talking for a bit as it sounded like a bad script

he couldn't seem to make a cohearent thought  and then suggested he cold lower the shipping of a car to $50 (um SSSSUUUUUURRRREEE)
