The next time you get a "personal" letter or telephone call telling you "it?s your lucky day," the Federal Trade Commission encourages you to remember that:

1. Legitimate sweepstakes don?t require you to pay or buy something to enter or improve your chances of winning, or to pay "taxes" or "shipping and handling charges" to get your prize.

If you have to pay to receive your "prize," it?s not a prize at all.

Caller claimed to go by the name John Boxter, assured that he was a christian and that my husband's phone number won 2nd place in a sweepstakes supported by President Obama. Claimed that my husband had won $250,000 and a new mercades benz. All my husband had to do was go to wal mart and get a western union receipt for $100.00 and call him back with the information. This $100.00 was supposed to cover shipping and handling of the new car. SCAM!!!!!

THIS NUMBER CALLED ME.  HE SAID THAT I WON MONEY AND A CAR.  ALL I HAVE TO DO IS WIRE MONEY FROM WESTERN UNION TO CLIAM MY PRIZES.  THIS IS A SCAM ARTIST USING THE PHONE LINES TO SCAM PEOPLE.

This caller called and said he was with the UPS.  Claimed to have prize money and car.  I just had to go to Western Union and get a receipt for $150.  He said his name was David Thomas and had a really heavy accent.  Then when I called back and said he was a scam artist and told him I was going to tell the police, he insulted me and cussed at me.  Do not fall for these lies.
