DO NOT return the call from someone calling from a 876 area code.
This is not a toll free "800" number, it is the international long distance code for the island nation of Jamaica. You are charged international and long distance rates for calling this number. Other international/long distance area codes are 809, 284, and 649.

Scammers use these numbers to not only try to scam you out of money, but also sting you with high phone call rates.

They never require any money, purchases, taxes, fees, or deposits of any kind to get your prize.

Publishers Clearing House DOES NOT call, email, FAX, mail, any advanced notice that you have won.

"If you are ever contacted by someone claiming to represent PCH, or claiming to be one of our employees,  and asked to send or wire money (for any reason whatsoever, including taxes); or send a pre-paid gift card or Green Dot Moneypak card in order to claim a sweepstakes prize ? DON?T!  It?s a SCAM. If you are sent a check, told it?s a partial prize award, and asked to cash it and send a portion back to claim the full prize award, DON?T.  The check is fake, but the SCAM is real!

Publishers Clearing House does not operate this way and would NEVER ask for money to claim a prize award.  PCH employees would never contact you personally or in advance to notify you of a prize award.  Our prize awards are presented just the way you see in our popular TV commercials, ?live and in person? by our Prize Patrol, with balloons, champagne and check in hand - - and with no advance notification!"

just got off the phone with Richard Walter ID#14050.  He said that I had also won $850k and a 2012 Benz... I just needed to call Simon Green in Bismarck, ND.  As soon as I told him that his number comes up as a scam on Google he cut it short.

My wife got the same call on her cell phone (Friday afternoon).  Someone should tell him it's 2013. Who would ever want to win an outdated car.  Also he used Simon Green.  She informed him she was out of town for weekend & be back on Monday.  See what Monday brings.....

Prank Call
Received a phone call from this number.  It was on my cell phone, and shown as "blocked".  I listened, not believing what they were saying, until he started giving me Claim No.'s, Winning No.'s.  His name apparently was Richard Green, ID Badge No. 17050, Claim No. UT001655933014, Winning No. 284169USA, Patient No. EY2012, I apparently won $850,000.00 and a 2012 Mercedes Benz.  My instructions were to go to Walmart and get 2 14 digit green dot money pack paper scratch cards.  One with $499.00 on it and one with $385.00 on it.  Then when they showed up today, I give them those cards and they escort me to my bank and cash my check and they deliver my car to my driveway.  Also, they had to stay on the phone with me the whole time I was doing all this.  They asked if my battery was charged up on my phone.  He had a very heavy foreign accent and now that I read the above posts, he was probably from Jamaica.  I almost fell for it, until I had to pay money to get those cards. He even suggested that I take out a small loan from my bank to do it. Yea right, I'll just go do that, NOT!!!!!!  He did leave me his phone number in case I changed my mind.

Yeah, just got the same call saying I had won 1.5 mil from Publisher's.  Honestly I thought it was a friend goofing around as the voice was so odd, so I stammered and was slow responding as I was trying to suss out who was on the other end.  He asked if I was busy and then was getting ready to give me contact info when I told him that I wasn't interested and would prefer if he didn't call again.  I was then told by the caller to have very intimate relations with my own personage.  Since I now know this is a scam, I don't think I will.

My friend kept getting relentless calls from a number that his phone said was from Jamaica. Finally after much frustration I answered it. This guy with a heavy foreign accent of some kind says I have won a Mercedes Benz 2012 pearl white. But to claim my prize I will need a green dot card from Walmart in the amount of $495, but I won't have to pay for it just pick it up. As I am already doubtful and very suspicious about all this I decide to start driving to Walmart to see if they card was there at customer service. Before I go into the store I ask him what the card is for? He claims that it is needed to secure my prize and then proceeds to tell me in addition to the car I have won $6000. He says he's from Georgia. The winner needed to be a "us citizen". I explained to him that my girlfriend's parents had actually won a car in Las Vegas at the Bellagio hotel and they met the company representatives AT THE DEALERSHIP. He said we would meet today in my town to drop the car AFTER I purchase the card. As I literally had $20 iny pocket, I asked if I could "just borrow some money from him and see the car." When he said he only had $25 I knew then for sure it was a SCAM (confirming my previous belief). So I googled the phone number and read these very posts about it being a scam. I decided to play along with the guy just a bit longer. I asked him if he had the Internet? Yes. Did he know what google was? Yes. I told him I searched his number in google, 20+ people said it was a scam and how could he possibly explain that? Funniest part yet: "you want me to explain that? Grab a hold of your friend and f*** him in the a**!" Click.
Needless to say I will never answer a number I don't know.

THIS IS A SCAM. Area code 876 is Jamaica. If you call them, you will be billed international call rates. Worst still, the number may be a premium rate number equivalent to our 900 numbers that charge HUGE rates like $5/min. Do NOT send them any money or call the number.
