Prank Call
I got a call yesterday from Jamaica with the number 876-538-7564 saying that I was the second place winner for pch and that I had won $875,000. He didn't give me his name but his accent was really really strong and you could hardly understand him. He gave me a claim ID number and told me to call 707-260-2849 to which it would be a claim bureau in Texas for me to get my money I had won. I was very skeptical about it so I looked up the 707 number and its not in Texas but napa, ca. When I called the number he put me on hold and said he was talking to the company lawyer. Then informed me I was gonna have to send him $750 for the transaction to go throw and that I'd get my money before 6 yesterday. I hung up on him. I'm calling pch later today to report this. They have a number to report fraud callers using their name.

I got the call this morning. I could barely make out what he was saying. He told me that I along with 9 other people had won $900,000.00 and a new white Mercedes. I lost the signal because I was driving so I called them back and the guy on the other end was surprised. I told him someone had just called me from this number and I wanted to finish what he started. So this guy continued with his scam. He asked how I wanted the money delivered to me. So I told him I wanted everything delivered in cash and no camera crew. Then he hung up on me. So I called him back and someone else answered the phone and could not understand me and I told him someone had just called me and this guy hung up. So I think I will call them again and bug them a little.

I got a similar phone call saying that I had won 5.5 million dollars, but I needed to go to Wal Mart and get a green dot scratcher card and then call them back with the number on the card.  I was told by a supervisor at Walmart that their home office had pulled all those cards 2 weeks ago. I called them back and told them I  could not do it.  Later that day, my phone company called and said area code 876 is in Jamaica and it is a scam.  They blocked all future calls from that area code.  Then I called my cell phone company because they were calling non-stop on my cell phone.  They were aware of the scam and deducted all 876 calls from my bill.  I was put under pressure to complete this assignment, and then was told to go to Western Union, but I never did that.  They just had an article in our paper about scams being done to seniors, so be careful.  No 876 calls!  Be careful.  I have a friend who took the bait and paid them $5,000.00, but never got her prize.

Love the rooster in the background. I got basically the same call and wanted to talk about the rooster but "John" said there wasn't a rooster. I told him I could hear it but he wasn't having any talk about roosters. HA! I bantered with him for so long that he started cussing and hung up on me.

Chickah, These filthy Jamaican animals now also have the stink of desperation on them. Seriously? This foul smelling rodent tried to impersonate Obama. Why not the Pope or the big man, JC himself.

Stay safe!

Got a call from a Mark Williams.   Stating that I could go to Walmart and claim my prize.   He also stated that he got permission from president Obama to deliver the prize himself.   I told him that I would believe him if Pres. Obama called me.   We hung up and a couple of seconds later, he calls back and claims that he is Pres. Obama.   I jokingly asked him if he was calling from the white house and he said, "Yes, I am sitting in my office as we speak".  I told him if you are calling me from your office, then who is this guy who looks like the president doing in Hawaii?   LOL  He stuttered for a while and tries to persuade me that this is not a scam and just give me the information needed and he will get my check to me.    I told him to have Obama come and pick up the check himself!  JERK!

Those crafty Jamaicans. They're going to have a problem soon though. They've 'given away' every nickel in the country. And I guess there's not a luxury vehicle left either. All the Range Rovers, Mercedes-Benzs, Escalades..just gone! I guess that's why so many of them are stuck having to ride their bicycles.
Well they're just going to have to hope they win the Lotto...or the Publishers Clearinghouse Sweepstakes.

Prank Call
I received a call on Saturday morning from Mr. Walton 1876-489-6209, he said I had won a million dollars and a brand new Range Rover from Publishers Clearing House I listened to him for a minute and hung up because I knew I hadn't applied for it and it just was a scam!   He kept calling back like four times so I picked up and he asked me, "Why did you hang up on me?" I told him because "I don't want to talk to you". He got very upset and kept askin me if I ever received a call like that, so I said ok I won a million dollars what I gotta do to get it? He said he was gonna give me a number to call, I said is that number from Jamaica too?  He hung up!!  Lol

Got a call from s guy David who said I won 3rd prize publishers clearing house 2 million.  He verified address and said UPS would come over to deliver.  I needed package code  of EB616 275 and would need drivers licence and another ID to verify.  He spoke very slow and spelled everything saying he had to get it correct for his computer system.  It was a very strange call.  He kept saying do you know who I am or what is in your package?  Do you know what a UPS truck looks like.  I hung up on him.  My phone said unknown number, but I pressed redial and this number came up- 180027699391040790351556.  Not sure if that helps anyone.  I read posts that said when they called publishers clearing house they said they never deliver UPS- only  PCH truck with flowers and balloons.  Scam

WAS CONTACTED BY A JAMES BROWN FROM A COMPANY CALLED LATURDRAW SOMETHING OR OTHER. IT WAS HARD TO UNDERSTAND HIM BECAUSE HE HAD A HEAVY ACCENT. HE INFORMED ME THAT I WON 2ND PLACE IN A DRAWING AND HAD WON 2 MILLION IN A CHECK AND 50,000 IN CASH PLUS A MERCEDES BENZ. HE NEEDED ME TO GO TO WALMART AND GET A CLAIM RECEIPT AND THEN THEY WOULD COME THE NEXT DAY AND DELIVER MY PRIZES.  I TOLD HIM I DIDNT ENTER ANY DRAWING AND HE TOLD ME I WAS CHOSEN AT RANDOM AS MY INFO IS PUBLIC KNOWLEDGE. I TOLD HIM TO GIVE ME HIS INFORMATION AND I WOULD INVESTIGATE THIS TO SEE OF IT WAS REAL, WHICH HE INVITED ME TO DO. HE GAVE ME A CALLBACK NUMBER OF 1-876-867-4695 WHICH DIDN'T MATCH THE NUMBER ON THE CALL ID (HEWITT ASSOCIATES 646-434-2901). I CALLED BACK THE NUMBER ON THE CALL ID AND RECEIVED A MESSAGE THAT THE NUMBER WAS NOT IN SERVICE. I GOOGLED THE 877 NUMBER AND FOUND NUMEROUS SCAM REPORTS. IT WAS RECOMMENDED THAT I SUBMIT A REPORT TO HELP CATCH THEM. I HAVE NOT AND DO NOT INTEND TO SEND HIM ANY MONEY.

I got a call from the same number.  Guy called himself Mr. John Rose.  Said there was a check for 4.5 million (waiting at UPS) and a Mercedes on a transport waiting to be delivered to me and they needed to notify me they were coming.   Also, before I could accept delivery they would need $450.00 by Western Union for the delivery charge.   When he was asked he said he was from Winners International
based in Las Vegas.   I kept him on the phone talking for a long time.  Figured the more of his time I wasted, the less time he'd have to talk to and scam others.  Told him I'd believe it when the Mercedes pulled up at my house with the money and the camera crews and that anyone who was willing to give me millions of dollars and pay all the taxes on the money would surely trust me to give them $450.00 from my winnings AFTER I got it all.  He said my photo would be in Reader's Digest.  He even asked if I was single so he could help me spend the money.   Told him to run the process through my local attorney and provided the attorney's phone number.  The kicker?   I could hear a rooster crowing in the background during our conversation !   If he knew I could hear that, bet he'd be having the rooster for dinner.

Just as with "laurelic" above except I took the call myself. Caller ID was blocked, saying it was a "Private Caller" but I received a call from 876-867-5667. The man claiming to be "Berger Williams," with a thick accent, saying that he is from Customer Service at Publishers Clearing house, and I have just won their $500,000 prize.  I had actually sent in a Publishers Clearing House form earlier this year, and he seemed to know that.  He also knew my address. I waited for him to ask for personal information, but he never did.  He told me that the Publisher's Clearing House van would be arriving with two state police, financial, and Publisher's Clearing house officials (Tom Daniel Lewis and Miss Freda Green) at 2:30 the next day to escort me to my bank with the check.  He asked how far away my bank was from our house, but he never asked the name of the bank. He wanted to know if I wanted to have an NBC crew with them, I said "sure". He said I would need 2 forms of ID, and if I had a picture ID, what that would be. I told him I had a driver's license and he said that would do for one. He said the second ID had to be a "Money Back Green Dot Reloaded" card in the amount of $750.00 which I could purchase from Walgreens or K-Mart. He said he would call back the next day at 11:00 am to confirm everything. I couldn't imagine PCH would be outsourcing their Winner calls to someone who could barely speak English. I called Publisher's Clearing House to see what they had to say.  They said they *never* make telephone calls to inform people of their winnings, and that the 876 call originated in Jamaica and to just ignore it when they call back.

He now uses the telephone number of 702-628-8406.  Berger Williams, will call you and state you are the winner of $250,000.00 from the Publisher's Clearing House.  Two CFO, CEO's, as well as, Two police officers and two US Marshalls will be at your home today by 3 PM to deliver your winner's check.  You should have received two notices by mail sometime early last month of same.  Regardless, even if you did this is a big time SCAM.  He will ask you to visit your Western Union and send 1% of the US Taxes due as PCH has covered 99%.  You are suppose to money gram it to an account he will give you ( most likely his own bank account) after asking you where your bank or savings account is as you will need to get the cash out first to send to him or the PCH special account set up for this tax money due before you get your check.  Ha ha, the laugh is on him as I am perfectly clear on the taxes owed on $250K and how it is collected.

My mother received a call from this phone number in Jamaica.  "Berger Williams" has a thick accent, but says that he is from Customer Service at Publishers Clearing house, and she has just won third prize, which was $250,000.  She actually had sent in a Publishers Clearing House form for the first time earlier this year, and he seemed to know that.  He also knew her address.  When I heard her talking to this guy, I quietly picked up the extension and waited for him to ask her for money or personal information.  He never did.  He told her that the Publisher's Clearing House van would be arriving with several police, financial, and Publisher's Clearing house officials to escort her to her bank with the check.  He asked how far away her bank was from our house, but he never asked the name of the bank.  He gave her the number of the check that she would be receiving, as well as this telephone number-- 876-867-5667 (which matched the number on our caller ID.)  Except for the fact that the call was from Jamaica, (and I couldn't imagine PCH would be outsourcing their 3rd Place Winner calls to someone who could barely speak English,) I would have believed this call was the real thing.  So I called Publisher's Clearing House this morning at 1-877-379-3377 to see what they had to say.  They said they *never* make telephone calls to inform people of their winnings.  The winners are only informed when the PCH van pulls up outside their house with the balloons, roses, and giant check.  In this case, they said the scammer will just not do anything until we get tired of waiting for the $250,000 check to arrive, and then call him back.  Then "Berger Williams" will ask for money because the check got held up in customs or something.   PCH did ask me to go to the http://www.fraud.org website to report this scam.  That report will go directly to the US Fraud Investigation.
