Things to believe:

? There ain't no such thing as a free lunch.
? If it looks too good to be true, it probably is.
? You have not won big bucks from a benign benefactor, a pot of money from PCH, or a grant from a gracious government  <<<<<
? The tooth fairy really does not exist
? Everything you read on the internet is not necessarily true.
? It is illegal to pay money for a loan or prize, BEFORE getting the loan or prize!
? "Free Trips" are loaded with mandatory & costly extras, and you usually must give them your card number after listening to a loooong spiel at a hotel.
? Microsoft did NOT call you to fix your computer.
? The moon is not made of green cheese.
? The IRS will snailmail you, rather than phone you, if there is a problem.
? Jackalope milk is not an aphrodisiac.
? If you "green dot" or Western Union money to a scammer, the money is gone.
? You should beware of Greeks bearing gifts, specially if the gift is a wooden horse.

Prank Call
Got a call from 876-883-1083 claiming to be from Publishers Clearing House telling me that I have won $850,000 and a new car.  Wanted to know if I was at home or work. I told him neither.  He asked me to write down some information.  I told him I couldn't because I was driving.  Asked me to pull over and I told him I couldn't.  Told me he would hang on with me until I could.  Told him I was in traffic and it would be a while.  He asked me if I was wondering how I had won.  I said yes.  He told me because I shop at Walmart, Walgreens, CVS Pharmacy and such places and pay my bills with them.  He asked me how old I was and I made up some random age and he started with the sweet talking telling me that I sounded no more than 22.  He then started calling me Pretty Lady.  Hmmmmm...I told him he would have to call back and he asked me when.  I told him in an hour.  Got on my computer and found others who had received the same scam phone call.  This number shows up from Jamaica.  Stay away from this.

My 14 year old daughter got a call from this number today and she told me about it, so i called back and played along with the people on the other line.  They claimed to be from Publisher Clearing house and that I had won money and a car.  The person told me he was David Bradley, very broken english, and he gave me a check #, a claim #, a winning #, and a car lic plate #, then he told me that I needed to call his manager with all this information to recieve my winning money and prize.  I called 1-876-441-5576, and a man with the same kind of accent came onto the phone. He asked if this was the first time I had been called about the winning money, I said yes.  He asked several times that I keep this private and don't tell anyone. I asked how I had won publishers clearing house because I had never sighned up for anything.  He told me that it was because I was a verizon customer and I shopped at wal-mart.  He gave me a bulshit story that I was randomly selected blah blah blah, He asked me to verify my name, I gave him a fake name, then he asked me to verify my age, I gave him a fake age, then he asked for me to verify my address, I gave him a fake one.  He said thank you all that info is correct, I had to pull the phone away to giggle, then he asked for my drivers lic # and I said I would show that at the door when the prize patrol arives. Then he asked me what my plans for the money are, I said Im not sure then he said ...you dont need to worry about this, it is 100% legit..LMAO (only liars say they arent lieing lol) Then he asked me a few more b***s*** questions and asked me to drive to wal-mart with him on the phone to purchace a card that I would need to supply to the people delivering my check to get my prize.  He said that the refundable registration fee for the IRS to allow them to cut the check would be $295.  He said I would need to go to customer service and get a green dot money pak paypal card.  So I asked him if he would mind holding while I drove to walmart so I didnt have to hold my phone while I was driving.  Sucker was put on mute and stayed on hold.  So I called walmart from another line and asked what the green dot card was.  Its a card you can purchace to put money on, give the code on the back of the card to someone else and they can trasfer the money to their  card.. Pretty good way to launder money!!!  So I got back on the line with the scammer and said ...thank you sir you have given me all the info that I need to prove this is a money laurdering scam and I am calling the police to report you...I got some very colorful words and he hung up on me.  I called the police and they connected me to the attouney general and the consumer fraude department.  I gave all the information and they had the FBI agent get on the line who is currently handling the scam case in my local area.  He thanked me for my dilagence and added all the info to the case.   long story short, if you think it sounds off or fishy...it usually is, this one is just another scam!!!!!!!!!  Don't answer any numbers from Jamaca starting with 1-876....
