Somebody just called me from Lima, Peru today on 12/18/2013 using the first name of somebody I know.    When I asked who is this, they gave me the wrong last name, & I said I don't know anybody by that name and they hung up.  The call no said private so there was no tele no .  from individual in Houston, Tx.

My Dad was called Tuesday May 15th by Bruce Wiley telling him the same story that his grandson was locked up in Peru for Pot. And put my son on the phone and my Dad said it sounded exactly like him asking for help and please don't tell my mom so and so on. Well my Dad who watches the news all the time and reads the newspaper, also ran down to the Western Union Office and they even told him where to go in the town we live in. He sent $900.00 and during that week even called the number and spoke with "Bruce Wiley" and he assured him that his grandson was released and he was going to get the $900.00 back. So we know the money is gone and I'm filing a Police Report today but can't anymore be  done about this? If anyone has anymore that can be done please let me know.....

Bruce Wiley? Yeah right. This guy supposedly from the American Embassy called my Mom saying that her Grandson (my Son, a United States Marine) was in the  Dominican Republic jail after the car he was riding in was pulled over for speeding and possession of marijuana was found. They said the bond was $1700, but they had to have $1000 right now to free him from jail until trial. To whomever reads this, please be aware that women, the elderly and Marines are targeted by these scam artists and concerning Marines, they are not allowed to leave base for another country while in training, which has been confirmed by my Son's recruiting officer. These people need their gonads ripped from their body and their teeth pulled one by one while strapped down with no anesthetics! Don't fall for these scams.

THIS IS a SCAM! They tried this on my parents two hours ago! Told them it was son in Lima, Peru and needed $900 because he was busted for possession of marijuana and was being held at the American Embassy and told them to wire money to him. My dad said the person was crying and said it sounded like my son, but my dad wears a hearing aid. My dad called me of course to verify my son's whereabouts and did not wire any money. The name provided in this scan was James Holden, Sargeant at the American Embassy. I even called them myself and told him I don't know what kind of scam they are running scaring my parents half to death but my son isn't even out of the country. Idiots! We called the police! Police said it is untraceable because it is 1-877 number.

My mother was told this very same story on 5/14/12.  She was worried and distraunt for hours before we could convince her thier story that our Daughter was in trouble and needed money.  Hope no one really gets stuck by this jerk.  He just worries people for the meanness and the money.

As earlier stated, the person providing this phone number is a scam artist.  These people posed as me to my grandparents; supposedly I was in trouble in Ecuador and was at the Embassy and needed $2100 to be released.  They thankfully did not lose any money in this scam.

Names provided in this scam were Aaron Cieve (American Embassy representative) and Stephen Cillas (name to be put on the Western Union payment).  This was the phone number provided, although we are unsure what number they called from.  This number, no surprise, is busy or disconnects when called back.

Although you will immediately think to be concerned for your loved one, ask questions and do your homework.  This is a scam!
