Has anyone on here that has delt with these "arg& associates" been served or had there wages garnished or are these scammers just backing off after you refuse to pay the out of court money? Wondering bcuz i have gotten calls also

I just got a call from a Mrs Deen at 716-941-4151 claiming to be with ARG & Associates and how they were going to a pre-litigation hearing on me over an account with a company I hadn't had an account with in over 15 years... they had my address, name and last four of my social and all.  I called them back and told them to send me a certified letter exactly stating what is owed and when this account was opened because it's not in my credit report nor have I received any contact they've claimed to send. But said even if I haven't received the notices they'll still be proceeding. Sounds like a scam to me.

They changed the number to 866-565-3752

Called my husbands cell phone for ---I took the call.
Said they had preliminary paperwork
Would not give details! I told them I was not who they were looking for. She said "then why are on the phone?" Then said" you better hope you are not her ,because I am filing with collections and the IRS"!!

well now its a Mr. Jones.  states has case in his office from someone i may be unaware of using my ss# wants contact by 6pm today. not happening i will call my lawyer instead. the caller id to my cell showed 954-526-9223 and the person says he is from ARJ or ARG Associates (was hard to understand his speech). Its obvious from the complaints here in the past few hours alone that he is making the rounds busy making calls today.  Report him/them to the FTC, AG, Consumer Protection Bureau for violations.  Trying to resurrect old zombie debt with expired sol and expired cbr reporting.  dispute em, fight em, report em.

Family member received phone call and took a message.  Caller left name Christi.  I don't owe any debt but I don't think I want to call back the number judging from what I see on this site.

I GOT A PHONE CALL TO DAY TELLING ME I HAD TO PAY MY BILL THAT I HAVE SINCE 2001 THEY NEW MY FULL NAME  MY S.S  AND MY ADDRESS THEY TOLD ME I HAD UP TO. FIVE O CLOCK PAY MY BILL  THEY WAS GOING TO REPORT ME TO THE I,R,S 1099 FORM THEY WANT MY DEBT ACCT NUMBER THEY COULD MAKE PAYMENTS WITH ME SO I SAID THAT I WILL CALL THEM BACK  WITH MY IN FOR  SO I LOOKED UP THE NUMBER IT CAME UP AS A SCAME I ALL MOST FELL FOR IT  HER NAME WAS MISS JONES AND HIS NAME IS MR SUTTER

Got a call from this 877-211-3842, brought an old credit card debt (judgement), that I have proof that I paid off, He said his name was sydney and he refused not once but several times to give me an address and said he was with ARG.

954-526-9223 scam. he has very old debt information and is using threats of irs and other such nonsense, but will not give any information about himself. one man scam shop. uses 877-211-3842. i alerted my bank, credit reporting agencies, better business bureau scam alert and was told by the police to file a report with the attorney general's office.

Just got a call from "Miss Jones" with supposed A.R.G and Associates.  She had my name and social security # and proceeded to tell me that she needed to secure a collection before 1pm the next day or else she was going to file a 1099C tax form against me.  She said the collection was from a Verizon phone calling card in 2001 for $1800 that was in my name and social sec.  Here's the problem...I've never ever had a Verizon phone card or any other type of phone card for that matter in my life.  Also, have never had Verizon phone service up until a few months ago.  I explained this to "Miss Jones" and that I'd have to do some research into it because something just didn't sound right.  She then asked me if I was going to make a payment on the collection amount and if not she would just submit the 1099C form to the IRS.  I told her again that I would have to research this because it could have been a scam or identity theft and asked her to understand my point of view and where I was coming from on the situation.  She then got aggressive and said, "Do you know how many times I've heard that one before.  You need to make a payment now or else I'll just file the 1099C"   This is what tipped me off that this was a scam.....and I flat out asked her if this was a scam and wash she trying to scam me.  She quickly replied that she was just going to go ahead and file the 1099C and then hung up on me!   I immediately googled the phone # they called from and found this site with people sharing similar stories!  

FYI: Threatening to send a 1099-C if you don't make a payment is an illegal harassment tactic....as is threatening to garnish your wages.  You can consult with a consumer law attorney who regularly sues debt collectors on behalf of consumers who have been harassed.  Some attorney's may be willing to help you for free since debt collectors who violate the law must pay attorney?s fees.

my 85 year old father received a call from this number. i called back and got the threat to take ten year old unsecured credit debt to the irs. he said for $6,000 and when i said "i only had a $5,000 limit, so you're planning on de-frauding the irs?" he hung up on me.

They called my sister in laws number looking for my parents # then called me looking for my parents and  #. Would not tell me what is was regarding. Said it wouldnt hurt them if i didnt relay the message only my parents. how did they even get my name , sister in laws name etc. i live across the country from my parents ! and have a married last name different from my parents

I received a call from this number, stating that I need to get in touch with them by 5pm eastern time or the person that represents me. Has to be a collection call. Ms. Jones. call I.D. showed 713-609-9784.

Also recieved a very abusive call from this number by someone claiming to be Mr. Sutton.

Someone called saying it was urgent to give my Social Security # to her.  Said she was calling from 1-877-211-3842.  Caller ID showed 1-713-609-9784

this company is a scam, they call me about debts I don't owe, calming that they would file false 1099, if I didn't pay the a $1000, after a heated exchange and them refusing to give me their mailing address, Name of person I was talking to, they said I was harassing them. I want to look them up and send them a certified cease and desist letter, they are cowards, they ware afraid to give me their address, be aggressive with them, and they probably already hit your credit report, threw LexisNexis Risk Solutions, and when you call them, they don't even have a clew, you need to get it deleted form your credit file, and block your credit, on all three agencies.

Got a call from a debt collector.

10/16/2012  Just got a call from this phone number ARG asking to talk to my husband about a tax filing that they were a mediation company.  I looked this up on line and called them back and told them to not call us anymore. My husbands credit is perfectly clear and there is no outstanding debt on it.  Very much a SCAM!

Do not take calls from this company, claiming to be a legitimate collections agency, A.R.G.  When they contacted me, they had information about me, but false debt information.  They tried to intimidate me by threatening me with garnishment when I've never been contacted in writing by this company or its affiliates.  The man who called threatened to "go to the IRS" and attempt to make a claim on my taxes if I refused to pay even after I explained they had the wrong person and I wasn't aware of the debt.  When I contacted the actual A.R.G. company, they had never heard of me and were not able to reference any information regarding an account in my name.  They called from 877-211-3842.
