I just got a new number for a new cell phone. This company called me trying to collect a bad debt from the individual who formerly had the phone number. As I tried to explain and was going to ask them to put my number on their do-not-call list, but the operator abruptly hung up. I think they are trying to avoid being told not to call again and keep the number on their list. My impression is the caller is a comparatively dirty collection agency.

Did not call back thanks to y'alls messages!!  I have no debt so something had to be wrong.

2 days ago I recieved a call from Att & T Kevlyn Smith.He was informed me that i have a debt and if i wont pay right now they gone a send my account to collection.I never had any debt.when I tried to say that I never have any debt, and I payed my bill 2 days ago and have a check,he still keep saying that I dont care your name will go to collection.Its a first time that i was speaking such a rude stupid, unpolite man.I gave a call to ATT & TT billing and payment center and they told me that I dont have any debts and evth is ok with my account.I gave a call again to that person to verify the case,and hesaid thet he sent my account to collection and hang the phone on me.Is there anybody who cann explain me what is going on.Maybe that person has a psychological problems ?But why the ATT hiring such a disnormal people????Thats why USA economy is going down...

I just got a phone call on MY cell asking for my husband from someone with a heavy accent that I could not understand.  They said they could not discuss with me because it was personal and they wanted his phone number.  I said, I cannot give you his number till you tell me what this is about.  They hung up.

I've gotten a number of calls from this company. They are a SCAM organization that says they are looking for [fill in any name]. They are trying to trick you into giving them information. I called the Illinois State Attorney and they confirmed this is a scam. They use fake names to set up toll-free phone banks which they then use for awhile to try to coax info from you and then they drop that phone bank and set up another one. Do not bother to tell them to take your number off the list, since they are not a legitimate company and could care less what you want. They are looking to rip people off. Do what I did - I added the phone number (this one and some others they have used) to my phone book as Scam1, Scam2, etc., and then I block them as I get calls.

Received a voice mail from this number looking for an ex boyfriend from 24 years ago...this is outrageous.

Asking about a person with the same last name.  When I called back to inform them that he was institutionalized, I called after hours EVEN though they called me an hour ago.

Got a British-accented woman asking for Vicki Johnston... Never heard of her!  Of course they want me to call and verify my identity... no way!

I've rec'd several calls from 877-215-7816 in the last couple of months.  I did not talk w/ anyone.  Then I did some research on-line & determined it's a scam.  First, don't answer the phone if you receive a call from an area code you do not recognize. If it's legit, then perhaps someone will leave a message.
Nothing has appeared on my credit report, so perhaps they are just fishing for EZ $.

Federal Consumer Credit law protects us from the bottom-feeders. Issue a cease and desist letter [many models exist on-line] and direct it to your debt collector of choice.

what a bunch of idiots. Some guy with an asian accent calls and says his his name is "nick smith". I said "what......your name is Nick Smith?" then he asks me to hear Im out....I said "ok.....". Then I heard nothing on the  line for about 10 seconds...then I hung up. Honestly, at least  its easy to pick out the dummies.

Automated voice message said she was Carrie Smith looking for "my brother's name" and to call 877-215-7816 however the call won't be returned by me. Unlike the others noted here, this time "she" did not leave the company name.

i just received one this morning from the same number, and yet it was a machine woman voice saying she's Carrie Smith trying to locate me and it's very important and that pls call her back at this number - i used my different number to call back this number just now, a man answered the phone asking me what phone number that i got the message from and what is my account # blah blah....  i then immediately smelled some scam going on and answered him, 'why do i have to tell you that?' and i was trying to tell him that i have smelled something not right...he then hung me up!! so people: watch out! don't let them scam U! i couldn't make out their business name either...it's something like CSACS blah blah...one Big SCAM business!! pls report them  to the police department pls...i will!!

Got a call from this number, and they asked who they were speaking to...super sketch. If the caller doesn't know who they are calling that is a huge sign that you should hang up. NEVER give out you info, including your name, to a company/scam who obviously doesn't have it yet.

877-215-7816 keeps calling my mother.  They use her first name but another last name that she has never had.  If you call the number back it just rings.   They make you think it is a bill collector.  I am going to report it to the Attorney General Office.

I got a recorded message asking for information on a person, they named in attempt to collect a debt.If I had any information to call them back. Then hung up.  It was my day off at 8 in the morning.

this number called and tried to collect a debt that we don not owe, Just finished the form to the attorney generals office. This has to be stopped.

I just called back and left THEM a message saying, "this is a call for whoever is at this number.  if you continue to listen to this message, you are acknowladging (sp) that you ARE whoever at this number....." and then proceeded to state how they need to stop calling my number because i do NOT have a debt.  hope they enjoy that one.

I have been getting VM at my magicjack number for awhile now.  I don't have any outstanding debts- not sure what's going on here, but I sure don't like it.  Makes me nervous!

Received an automated call at my place of business today for an individual who has never worked there.  I called the number back. The company name EOCCA.  Original message was from Carrie Smith.  When I returned the call I spoke with Kelvin Smith.  He was somewhat rude.  I told him to take this number off of his list.  This company has received several calls for this person or another with same last name.  They have been told numerous times that we do not know these people and to remove our number.  They say they will but apparently have not.  I don't believe it is right to mention someone else's debt to someone other than the person owing that debt.
