Just got home and my old fashioned message machine is totally filled up with a full hour of their fear crap.  Other people who tried to call,  thought i was on the phone for an hour.   I am calling all the beer stores tomorrow in Kingston and area and giving the poor folks there an earfull for their bosses.
Call all the beer stores in your city and givm an ear full.   Then i am calling my local MP  .

Calling about a town hall meeting

I love beer (beer....mmmmmmm!!!!)

Even so, I have never given my name to The Beer Store, so my guess is that these calls (we received two yesterday) violate the DNC Registry rules. I have reported the number to the DNC Registry.

If you could, wouldn't you just love to answer with one of those cartoon-like punches where your fist travels down the phone line?

I am disgusted at this shameless self promotion at the expense of my privacy.  I have spent time in Quebec and the convenience of picking up a few groceries and a couple of beers should be enjoyed by all Canadians.  Break up the beer monopoly and force them to face a bit of competition.  val

They are still at it, the Beer Store just called me about town-hall crap!
It seems the Government DNC list means nothing.
I now have this number on call block.

I got the same call from The Beer Store during which the caller talked about town hall meetings......I would like them to know that:

a) I don't drink beer
b) I hate unions and monopolies
c) any action that helps to break up unions and monopolies is okay in my books
d) I have reported the number to the Feds

Would like to know a way to work towards dismantling the beer store monopoly.

I always thought it was Ontario owned and run, can't believe the truth.

Calling once an hour every hour today, and not leaving any messages.  Very annoying if someone works nights and needs to get some sleep!

I got the same recording today . Man said he is from the Beer Store Listowel, Ontario. To call him back. I ignored it.

Neighbours had a call from this number last week saying it is to set up a meeting with retired law enforcement officers.

The beer store is only 12pc owned by Ontario .the rest is owned by Sapporo, Heineken, and bush who control what goes on in the stores.

It is the BeerStore.  I emailed them, and it is legit.  I asked to have my number removed and they want me to call back at:       1-877-218-0389 to have my number removed, even though my email gave them my number.  I called the number to leave my own message for them, but the mail box was full.  I'll keep trying, and once they have room on there for my thoughts, it's going to get ugly.

Said the beer store, but when i did search on # the beer store doesn't come up under this number so beware it must be some scheme to steal your phone line or $$$

Call screen says # is The Beer Store, they also left a recorded message and said they were from Alberta.....none of it rings true and have no idea how they got my number since no one drinks in the household. Some sort of scam i'm sure.

If the phone co's have this rigged so that you are billed directly some fee, yes this is a scam,espescially if they  do not tell you UP FRONT about the billing.  However, I think you may be mistaken, as the call I heard was advocating Beer to stay at "The Beer Store (TBS)" vs "Independant Retailers".  

With that said, It is possible that there are others that are using the same number and SPOOFING the caller ID to report this number. IF thats what you received and it was a live agent, then it should be reported to law enforcement. Hopefully you have not divulged or given any Credit Card Info over the phone.

Did it Refer to the same number to call back to, if it is an 800,877,867,888  Area code? those exchanges are toll-free, and you do not get charged a fee for calling. Will follow up with the 'Beer Store' during business hours and post here the results. Keep watching.

Unsolicited message left on my answering machine with lengthy message about bogus town hall about dangers of selling alcohol to minors, impaired driving, blah blah.

Its a propaganda campaign by beer store monopolists, unions, and nanny staters to drum up support against allowing beer to be sold in a way that creates competition and is convenient for consumers.

So I really didn't care about this issue but now that these a$$holes are invading my privacy and calling my home I am going to campaign hard to bust up their monopoly.

Let the Beer go!  It wants to be free!

Ever since I signed up on the DO NOT CALL LIST I have had more annoying calls ugh...

The beer store telephone town hall keeps calling us. It's simply this company trying to protect its interests.

As far as I am concern, this is a scam to get people to call back.  I had two calls from them so far.  Normally, I hang up right away, but today I waited a few seconds trying to see if a real person would come on the phone.  What I do with telemarketing calls is easy enough and everybody else can do it.  Get a whistle and blow the whistle into the phone if you hear a person wanting to convince you of some sort of things.  If you are on the no calling list, they calling illegal anyhow.  If you are not on the no calling list, they will think twice before calling again.  If they are a scam company, they realize that they have no dummy in front of them.  
You need to protect your privacy in your own home.  So don't feel like being rude to someone.  Niceness doesn't pay off if the scam you our of your money.

The 'Beer Store' is a Co-Operative Consortium (A Private Company), of the major Brewers in Ontario, regulated by the Ontario Government. It is a Private-Non-Profit, with the objective to save costs to the Brewers of Ontario, while distributing their products (to the exclusion of smaller (local) craft Brewers) .

They are NOT a branch of the Government of Ontario.

The BEER store (TBS) is 49% owned by Labatts , 49% by Molson-Coors, and 2% owned by Sleeman Breweries, all of which are Private Companies. Since it is NOT a Survey, they are in Violation of the DNC Rules for Canada, by robo-calling on a vested interest. (Their Own Product Monopoly).

Vs the Small independent stores who would provide just as good service {IMHO}, at  a significant saving to Consumers.

So send your notes to the DNC administration, since you did not fill in a Survey at the Beer Store, and Did not ask to tele-conferenceed, As I was not either.

Caller ID said THE BEER STORE

I received a call from1-877-218-0389. I didn't answer this call however, I just heard on the news that this is a scam and if you try to call them you owe them something like $29.00 for calling them back. They will call you with a number

The Beer Store, speaking of "Town Hall" meetings. I suspect they are trying to gather support for opposing the sale of beer in variety stores.
But, aren't they violating the DNCL ?

Few minutes ago. Couldn't make out message as crackled. Not only did they annoy me by calling they annoyed by having poor connection. I'm on the do not call list and these scumbags have increased calling. Think I'm just going to get rid of main phone line and live in a cave with a big pile of rocks to toss at any form of marketer.
