I have been getting these calls for months, maybe even more than a year.  It is definitely Verizon and it is definitely about FIOS.  I've told them hundreds of times that I'm not interested in FIOS and I've told them hundreds of times not to call me again.  Several times they assured me that my number would removed from their list and that they would never call again, and several times they just hung up on me, but they would always call back.  I tried screaming, I tried cursing and I tried threatening but nothing worked, and I thought there was nothing I could do about it because I was already a Verizon customer and I thought they could legally call me.  Then I did a little research and found out that, even if you are a customer, they are not legally allowed to call again once you tell them not to, regardless of whether or not you are on the do-not-call registry (which I am).  Then I did a little more research and got the address to Verizon's corporate office and sent a certified letter to a couple of execs.  I told them that, since it was illegal for them to continue calling me, any further calls would be reported to the FTC, and if I received any further calls after I had received the mailing receipt proving that they had received my letter, that I would disconnect both my landline phone and my DSL.  That was more than two weeks ago and, so far, I haven't received any more calls.  Just in case anyone else wants to try it, here is the address:

Letter was addressed to:

Mr. Ivan G. Seidenberg
Chairman & Chief Executive Officer
Verizon Communications
140 West Street
New York, NY  10007

with a cc: to

I do not understand why Verizon is afraid to identify who is calling. The fact that they block the name field on incoming calls is annoying and proves that they don't give a damn about caller id.

I received a call from this number but I didn't answer thanks to caller-id.  I only pick up calls from numbers I know because the telemarketing has gotten out of hand.

Verizon has been calling me for several weeks.  I have told several of them to take my number off their list.  Each one assured me they would immediately, but they just keep calling.  I threatened to cancel our phone and DSL service with them if they don't stop calling.  They just called and the guy I spoke with said my number CANNOT be removed from their list for 30 days!  I said, "Oh, you intend to keep pestering me for 30 more days then????"  I asked to speak with his supervisor, and when the man came on, I told him that I plan to cancel my service with Verizon because of their annoying telemarketing calls.  He said he was sorry and then hung up on me!  They're quite the professionals, huh?  I plan to call their billing department tomorrow and report them (as if that would do any good!)  I just filed a complaint about them with the Nat'l Do Not Call list.  It's useless, but every single time I get an annoying call (which is all the time lately), I will report them to the Do Not Call list!  I hope it's annoying them for not doing anything about it!!!!

Rang several times, then hung up as soon as I picked up. Verizon has been calling at least once a night asking about Fios service. I'm ready to cancel my phone service with them because of their non-stop spamming.

I ignored my telephone ringing due to watching tv program. Nothing was left on my answering machine. Later,I used *69 to trace the number. Then, this number was googled which identified Verizon as the caller. I did not call them.

Be aware: Verizon is intensively pushing their FiOs internet system. If you want DSL service, they will try to steer you to their expensive very fast service which most of us, I believe, do not need. There are lower cost Verizon options which are still faster than dial-up service.

Same story here. No one is there. Probably still trying to sell their triple play.
