I received a call today from someone who identified himself as David Hernandez with "Processing and Summons Division" of my county. He said I or my attorney must immediately call Providence Legal Department about three pending fraud charges against me and to call 855-732-9198 x 312 and gave me a file number that included the last four digits of my SSN. He was very nasty and said he would not answer any questions about this alleged fraud. When I asked for his phone number, he told me that wasn't part of the file. I pushed him on it and said I needed his phone number when I called the district attorney's office. He then said he would report to the "Plaintiff" (Providence) that I was committing fraud, just like they said I was and hung up on me. The number is called from showed "000000" on my cell phone. First, I don't have any past due debts, I've have no bounced checks, I've never been in legal trouble and a legitimate creditor isn't going to tell you they're charging you with fraud. Even if you were being charged, they would not be doing it - you would be contacted by law enforcement or actual court personnel. They cannot sue you without advising you of a debt (again, I don't have anything out there unless someone has committed identity theft on me) so this is completely without merit. However, all that being said, after receiving the call I was scared - even knowing I have committed no wrongdoing and this was a scam, the man was so aggressive and hateful that I can see why people would panic and pay. But don't do it - like others have advised, report them to the authorities. I called our local District Attorney's office and she confirmed it's a scam and suggested I don't call the number he gave me. I haven't.

Report the calls to the FTC, the FBI and your state's Attorney General.  Tell the callers that all calls from them to you are being monitored and recorded by the FBI for prosecution of violations under the FDCPA.  That might get them to stop.  And remember - NEVER pay anyone who will not mail you the required debt validation letter proving you owe a debt to them.  No proof of debt = nothing owed.

they called me at work and at home, and use different numbers out of florida and all over, then call restricted and leave threatening messages that they will send papers to my work and home and show at my house with the cop.  they are very scary and sound believable, but I never asked or approved a loan and they are a scam and can mess you up.  it sucks.  I hope they get prosecuted somehow.  they go by global and providence legal or something like that.  they said they were out of fairfax, but won't give an address or fax number.  very frustrating.

I got a call from a similar company out of Houston texas saying they were going to file check fraud charges against me & have me arrested. After going round & round a few times with them i finally told them to go ahead & file charges & I'd see them in court! That took all their fight & thunder away & I haven't heard from them since! Don't do this unless you know the laws concerning payday loans, checks you've written to payday loan companies & the statute of limitations for the state they are calling from!! Google "SOL on checks for.....(your state)! EHow has an answer for all 50 US states!!

I am also getting calls from a company called Providence, a Miss Rogers.  Other than saying she is calling from Providence she will give me no further information about this company.  I am we'll within my rights to ask for this information.  Also, at no time during the conversation was I told that this was an attempt to collect a debt or anything like that.  She kept talking over me and finally said she would email me the information.  That was 4 hrs ago and still haven't received it. She was also very irritated when I informed her that I was aware of my rights under the fair debt collections act.  The phone number that I have for them is 866-849-0339, ext 321 and ask for miss Rogers, but when you call she just answers the phone herself, saying only her name.  When I asked for the name of the company and she reluctantly says Providence.  I asked Providence what, and she said just Providence.  Seems very fishy to me.  If they are legit why not just provide me with the info that I am asking for.?

I've been getting called by a women and a man both who say they work for some Providence law firm. There numbers come up as unknown and they keep saying that if I don't pay that they will be sending stuff to court. They even wanted me to do some recording. The number is 8773739110. I'm pretty sure this is a scam but wanted to see what everyone thought.

Well unfortunetly they are still at it. I shelled out 459.00 to them for a loan I do owe, but after some searching and calling my creditor, they are not the company that my creditor sent my loan to. They were very intimidating, and threatenong, same as everyone else on here has said. And they also refused to send me any info, they told me I agreed to the payment plan and they have me on a recording, I know I never agreed to that. So I insisted I wanted to listen to the recording, the lady says I dont have it right here. They are a law firm, so I guess they can use whatever tactics they want to collect a debt

I got a call from them as well, saying that I had a debt of $341.00 . They said that they sent me two letters & I didn't reply ! They then told me that if I did not make apayment that I would be taken to court & have to pay court fees on top of what they wanted !!  The "lady" was mean & nasty to me, she wanted me to pay what I couldn't. So I called back & spoke to a man that was glady to lower my payment !! This is BS that they are taking money from either hard working people or people that are on social security !! This needs to stop, I have made payments to them, money I didn't have, thats so not right !! Why don't they get a real job !! Please put these people a way for taking money from innocent people !! I am reporting them to my local Police Department & who ever else will listen !! I will NOT BACK DOWN !! The FBI has been notified, so take that !!

These people are ridiculous, after reporting them to the FTC they still have the nerve to call.  Ask them what their website or physical address is, they won't give it to you because its a SCAM!

This is an extortion scam to collect debts.  These people are hackers and  thieves.  They have no website, refuse to give a physical address and are rude.  I brought it to their attention that they were scammers in which the rep James/Jeff conway began shouting at me that I was a liar and when I hung up on him he wouldnt stop calling, I ended up unplugging my phone.
I realized they got my info from an online credit application just a few weeks ago.  if they call you hang up they are scammers and report them to your local law enforcement agency.  Also report to:
http://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx

Here is a good article from the FBI on these scams.

Rep said I was being sued for the illegal use of a checking account.  They had my name last four of my social and my birth month and year.  They said EZ MONEY had sold my debt to them and that they were a law firm and I would be summoned to court if I did not pay.
I knew I had an outstanding debt with ez money, but I had already made arrangements with NATIONAL CREDIT ADJUSTERS.  I called EZ MONEY to report the call, they gave me the number to their corporate office and turns out the company is a scam!
