Your right, can't touch it being its SSI and its most likely over the statue of limitations anyway and they can't take you to court or do anything.. You can check online for your states SOL.   Follow the steps in what you need to know in my post above.  Send them a cease & desist letter, return receipt or certified.  You can also file complaints with the FTC, CFB and with your states attorney general unless its extortion scammers in which case you also want to file complaints with the authority's as well.

Left me a message saying I have degraded a bank. How the world is that with a pay day loan almost 9yrs old? Threatening me with all kinds of things. I am on social security disability and you can't garnish my wages.

Thank you for this information. I did apply online not long before this started. It makes sense now. They had accurate information just as you said. Knew everything. Should I change my card number that I used to make the payment? I did take the time to call the actual company I had the loan through and found that it was charged off through bankruptcy as I thought it was. I was told to tell them I've spoken with the original company and that the account had been settled. I gave both numbers, case numbers they gave me and the names of the people and they said they'd check into it and that it's illegal for them to threaten to show up at my place of business ad they threatened

One, if not both, are scam.. Demand debt validation sent via the US mail. Never pay a bill without it. Its the law. Follow the steps in what you need to know..

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim?s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims? relatives, friends, and employers.

I'm getting the same threatening calls. Had a Cashcall loan. First company Universal Debt told me I could put a $100 deposit toward a settlement of $900 so I did and I'm supposed to call back on the 3rd of March and make another payment. I had 90 days to pay the other 800. Now I'm getting a call from another place threatening me with fraud and legal actions and I'm confused. How can two different companies be trying to serve you with the same papers. I'm supposed to call them back with my other account number but when I do I'm on hold forever. Now I'm wondering what's going on.

I got a call from 281-764-8701.  The caller id said the name was Mary something.  So I picked up, and she said she was a locator, wanting to get my address so that she could deliver the claim paperwork.  I'm like "What claim??" So she's like, "Oh, you didn't know about the claim?"  Anyhow, I told her that since she had my number, she also has my address.  She insisted that all she had was (my job's name and and address) and gave me the number 877-826-0173 to call along with my claim number.

So I called, and it was Nationwide, about an old payday loan I had with Check Into Cash.  Now that loan, I must have borrowed $300 and paid back $650 but that wasn't enough to cover all of their fees each pay day, and I couldn't keep it up anymore.  So that's what this is about, and the guy made the same threats and promises that he made everyone else...I got $200 added to my balance as well, and basically I told them not to contact me by telephone anymore.

Both my mom and grandmother received threatening phone calls from this company asking for me... I talked to them and they claimed I was getting served if I didn't pay them twice as much as I originally owed. I only make about $800 a month and have rent and other bills and couldn't afford what they were asking. I have since tried to contact the original credit card which was credit one and an automated message transfers me to 800-860-1582 then they transferred me back to 877-238-1815 (American Recovery). I have felt near a dozen messages for them and they will not return my call and now the people at the first number (800-860-1582) hang up on me every time I call! Does anyone have any advice for me, I don't know what to do...

I had that same thing happen to me yesterday. I spoke with a magistrate this morning and she told me that you can not go to jail for owing a bill. They have not had debtors prisons since the 1700. By them threatening you with jail they are breaking fdcpa laws and you can have them arrested for harrassment and sue them for fdcpa violations

Does anyone have nationwide address, I called the person who answered said that ge would NOT give out this information.  Im filing bankruptcy, and wanted to give the attorney the address so we could notify them. However this person said I will NOT give you this...and good luck. What a jerk!

I can relate to these scum bags my loan was with western sky who financed you through cash call the loan was sold to four different debt collectors who american recovery group happens to be the last one who has my account I've been trying to contact them to pay this off and can't get in touch with anyone Im tired of trying all I want is to pay this measly $200.00 dollars I owe and clear up my debt I will never deal with western sky again because there a rip off you borrow 700 dollars and you pay back almost $3000.00 come on its not that much intrest on a loan in the world .and I have all the same numbers that everyone else has for arg.I also called western sky and cash call and they act like its nothing they can do so I told them yall must dont want yall money .so im not going to call them again .and everything I have posted is the truth trust me there is definitely no reason for me to lie about anything these companies are FRAUDS

I had a couple of Payday Loans thru MultiLoan Source and Borrow Cash Now. I went thru United Deb Holding at 1-800-860-1582 and they told me to call American Recovery Group. No one will return my calls. I filed Bankruptsy Chapter 7 in Kentucky.

someone just called me the other day and said i owed a loan which i don't but  they have an old address of mine  from like 5 years ago and old job and a bank account that is not mine said they were going  to take me to court  is a payday loan that doesnt get paid  pay back criminal i didn't do it but just wondering can you go to jail for that.

OMG! The very exact thing that happended to you happended to me. American Web loan also told me they sent it to united debt holding and united debt holding told me they sent it american recovery group. What every happened with this because client trace services told me they are goint to serve me papers. Were you ever served anything?

Getting calls from a Nationwide and I want to serve them with papers now.... But cant get an address. Original loan was with CHeck into cash, they sold to United Debt Holding and now United says its with American. Which I believe also goes by Nationwide. Can any one find an address for these lames?

Ok, I see I am not alone. Got a call from 317-412-9738. Informed me that I had a felony charge on me and I had 30 minutes to pay or I would be arrested. Check to ACE Express in 2009. I said I wasn't aware of it and I said "let me get a pencil and write the info down" and the man, supposedly Mr. Striker, started calling me a scum bag and continued to give me the riot act and told me I deserved to spend 90 days in jail! Called back and spoke with "Jim Page",his "supervisor" who also would not give me any info on this charge or who he was working with. Called my family members degrading names. I don't know how I could talk to all these people on the same number since it a CELL PHONE with Verizon service. I called ACE Express and they told me records showed I owed them nothing!! Like everyone else, I would like to know where to go with this! (I'd like to go to Franklin, Indiana where the call originates!

I got a call from a lady named Dawn she threatened with warrants also, she was rude and nasty.  I think she's from this same company but using a direct phone number 317 412 9738. I kept asking for more detail but with no success why do people go through Hesse extremes, I want to pay back but don't know who to pay to.

i had a loan from Ace Cash Express and it was during the summer having too much fun mustve slipped my mine but anyways This collection agency called my job and threatened to serve me if i didnt pay up. People at work was worried as to whats going on. Anyways called them and settled it. (2009) At least thats what I thought. Anyways a few days before christmas I was a little short thought i should try loaning again, got there and come to find out I was declined because I still owe them. I was so embarrassed just took the print out the clerk gave with the information of debt collector and walked out. so I called the number for the agency come to find out United Debt sold my account to Frontier and they in turn sold it to American Recovery Group. I have been calling and leaving messages and no response. Im at a loss because I feel like a total duper...so AGGRAVATED!

So I had a loan with American Web Loan and forgot about it. The loan was from Oct 2011. I got a call early November from a company called CTS AKA Client Trace Services stating my loan company sent my debt to them to collect and that the loan place was suing me for fraud. I called American Web Loan and they sent my debt to United Debt Holding who then sent it to American AKA American Recovery Group whom I can not get a hold of. I am not sure who this CTS place is but they told me the only way to get this matter from going to the courts is by paying! Umm NO!

City Wide call my job, threatening to serve me papers, my jobs call me to take care of my personal business. I call them they said to give them a credit card number to pay off the pay day loan I owe.come to find out the bought my debt for $200 from the loan company i originally got. they said they will give me two weeks to put the money on the card or i will be serve papers at my job.  the number they gave me was  to call 877-210-9510.

Had a loan out with Cash Call who turned into Western Sky. Western Sky stated they sold it to American Recovery Group at 877 238 1815. When that number is called it states all reps are busy and to leave name, ssn, and number. I have left messages for three days and no response. Now I am getting calls threatening me that I will be served court papers at work and they are representing Western Sky. It seems when Western sells out the loan it can go as many people as it can, there is no one company. The name of the threatening is Continental Law Group and they constantly change numbers.

Check your states laws on Fair Debt and Collections Act as well as the FDCPA!  Borrowing money is a civil issue not criminal.

Can they serve you with court papers at your place of employment? I'm being threatened that if I don't pay the loan back and give them my debit card that they will serve me with court papers at my place of employment.

They also go by the Nationwide. These guys are bottom feeding scum. I had a balance due of $220. They tried to tell me I owed $420 due to extra fees. I quickly said that was illegal to require me to pay additional fees over the original amount and they quickly got pissy and rude. They cuss, they threaten, they are scum. Their phone numbers are:

Hey, I am curious, do they also go by just "American"? I just got a crazy phone call, from a different number, that said they were called American, and that I was being served a summons on some crazy bad check charge, which is funny because I dont write checks....

This is a collection agency called American Recovery Group.  I had a loan with CashCall and Cashcall sold it to a company called Noram Holdings, Noram Holdings sold it to a company called Debt Management Partners and Debt Management Partners sold it to American Recovery Group who is a collection agency.  When I call this number I get a recording that says leave a message.
