Know your rights under the FDCA! Third party debt-collection is an illegal practice and a company is never allowed to "sell" your debt to another company to collect. If you pay this guy, the original owner of the debt can still come after you for the balance you owe and there would be nothing to protect you from double-paying. You should ONLY ever pay a debt directly to the company to which it originated. Anyone who tells you otherwise is ill-informed.

I did and they Informed me that a firm bought the debt and wants to sue me before my debt expires? i never knew a debt could even expire freaking cool. but my dad checked it out its true i guess creditors do sell theyre debts to lawyers just to sue them, whatever i paid less than what us bank offered me.  thanks f****rs btw i wanna do the chick i spoke to.

Yes, be responsible and pay IF they prove via debt validation letter (NOT email or fax - physical letter is the only legal way to notify) that the debt is yours!  However, many people are getting calls claiming they owe for payday loans etc which are either paid off or on on loans/bills which are fraudulent.  So good for you - you contacted the original creditor and got the info on the people you owed to.

I also received a call from this number. I was also concerned it was fraud, and I then contacted the bank I owed the money to. They gave me the information of how to get in contact with the people that are now dealing with my debt. I am like everybody else in this country with financial problems. I admit I was unable to pay my bills then, and now I'm resolving my problems. Time to be RESPONSIBLE!!!!

i was given this number from Mr. Rodriquez from Atkins and Jacobs (1-877-240-4441) who says he is a paralegal working for the company, i asked for the name of the lawyer he worked for and he said it was just a group of paralegals that worked for the Columbia Law List. I called the better business bureau in California where he said they were from, they had never heard of them, called California Department of  Consumer Affairs asked about them they had never heard of them, contacted the California state bar they had never heard of them, i called and left a message with the Columbia Law List to see if this company worked for them, i have yet to hear back. The guy on the phone was very unprofessional, refused to give me a physical address to the company, the address they sent in a e-mail was to a shopping mall in upland,ca, told me he couldn't give me the physical address because of security reasons. They called me about Checking account fraud with US bank mentioned RM Funding as the company complaining, googled them and can't find anything....i called the county court house in which they said they were going to serve me papers, they had nothing filed in my name...i really think this is a fraud!

Mr Rodriquez calls non-stop saying you have committed fraud on a federally secured loan, which makes it a federal matter.  Also stating that you definitely can forget about bankruptcy because its as solid as a school loan. This guy is an idiot pretending to be an attorney he is simply a paralegal. He is a pushy liar... file and be done with it.

we have gotten a call from an unknown number  saying that he was representing a law firm and said they were fixing to take legal action. we also got a call from an unknown number saying we were being served papers for an accident with possible injuries. on both of these calls we were told to call this number (877-240-4441)

I spoke to Frank He informed me of my debt i remembered my son did this and left it alone (im not gonna press charges on my son for the fraud he did) and i spoke to a lawyer  he informed me to pay fortynine cents on the dollar and he took it. My only issue is these blogs.
