I received a call from this Amy also, they will not be getting anything from me. When you call it back it rings. Per lawyer if your name is not on any documents your not reliable and the insurance policy do not give out information.

Called on my cell. phone.  HOW did they get the number I don't know.  Left short message calling themselves Estate information Services.  Wanting information on a friends estate.  I sure am not going to give them any information.  The atty handling the estate has already provided information to the legitimate creditors.

I got a call from Amy as well --not sure how they got my number ---my mother has NO estate because she has nothing - don't know where they think their getting their money from.

I got a call from someone named Amy saying to call her back at (877)242-2984 asking for information regarding my dad who passed away in November 2012. I'm not sure how they even connected me with him, since my dad is different.  When I called the toll free number to find out where she was calling from, it said "Thank you for calling State Info Services."  Then I tried to dial the extension number to see if I could get a voicemail for an Amy and it wouldn't go through.  It seems fishy to me...I won't be giving them any information.

Just remember that you or your relatives have NO OBLIGATION to pay on debts that belong to anyone who is deceased, unless you co-signed or were joint on the account.  If the estate has enough money to pay bills, and the debt is legitimate (demand a debt validation letter showing proof that the debt is owed, per FDCPA terms), then it can be paid after going through probate.  (If the estate is going through probate).  

Do NOT let them rush you into paying before you've gone through probate.  If there is no estate, then they are out of luck.  Also, insurance policy benefits are exempt from debts against the estate, so do not tell the callers if any insurance monies are being disbursed to beneficiaries or they will try to convince you to pay from that money.  So sorry you are going through this.

They call from 614-729-1700 trying to collect debt from loved ones that have passed away.  They left a message to call them back at 877-242-2984.  Trying to find out who is handling the estate, have even called my husbands and daughters cell phones.
