This same exact thing happen to my family business in which I have been the office manager for over 10 yrs. According to them I was the one that authorized these charges which is a complete lie. I would have never agreed to tyhese charges. As a matter of fact, we have an IT person in our family that handles all of our computer issues. We don't need a company to do it for us. And I know without a doubt, I never agreed to any oftheir services nor would I have given out our bank account information to anyone!! We are suppose to get refunded $299.70 as well. Can anyone tell me if they ever received their refund from UMG Merchant Technical Solutions?? Looking back at tyhe dates of these postes, I can see this company has been scamming people for many years. Someone at the US Attorney General needs to investigate this company and make them responsible for all the money they have stole from people and also pay them for all the trouble they have caused!!

Did you ever get your refund?  Today I realized they to have been scamming us for years.  I called and cancelled whatever service they claim to offer.  I was told I would recieve a 299.70 credit also.

I am updating info for you.  I called Discover Network.  The woman was rather rude and claimed they had a right to give 3rd parties our account information.  Discover only charged our account for the months that any of our customers used their Discover cards.  Then for several months, UMG*MERCHANTTECHSOLUT showed up on our Discover Network account with a 49.95 charge.  Then Discover closed our account and turned all the info over to United Marketing Group.  If they did call me up, then they already had access to my account info.  Our bank does not want to reverse any charges, but suggests closing our account and starting over.  The banking commission doesn't want to get involved.  UMG SAYS that they will refund 299.70 to our account, but I'm not holding my breath.  They have been scamming us since May 2007.

Well, looks like we are another company to add to the files of the Ripoffed.  I have a small business in a very small town.  We had set up a merchants account with First National Processing for VISA and Mastercard.  They set us up with the Discover Network.  Discover had transactions on our bank account for 49.95 each month, then in May 2008 we started getting billed the same amount with Merchant Tech Solutions.  I naturally assumed that this was Discover Network.  All of a sudden, First National Processing wants to bill us for 4 payments of 121.99 for PCI Compliance.  In looking into that matter, I find that Merchant Tech has been scamming us these last couple of years.  MTS claims that I gave over-the-phone authorization.  My bank records didn't even give a phone number for this outfit.  I asked what service they performed and was told that they downloaded stuff on remote hard drives.  My son-in-law is our IT person, so I would NEVER have authorized these scammers. Next I need to check phone records and see if they have been billing us there too.  What a mess!!!!

United Marketing Group aka UMG*Tech aka UMG Technologies located at 929 N. Plum Grove Road in Schaumburg, IL, 800.851.2651 charged my credit card $19.95 three times. This is a scam. I do not know who they are, did not request their service and I hang up on telemarketers.

Heads up...Ocenture operates many "private label" operations under various brands and has a glut of phone numbers.  Look out for

There are lots more scam/traps that they operate under some label for companies like United Marketing, FHTM, Discover, Chase,  .  Another thing to realize is that Ocenture doesn't operate any part of the services and most of the "benefits" are free services you can get on your own.  100% outsourced from various vendors and the expectation is that paying customers will NEVER use the service and never pay attention that they are being charged 50.00 or more per month. It is of great concern that they actually get calls for service because they know they cannot fulfill it.

Tony D you are so right about UMG Merchant Technical Services.  They also use an internet company called The Nerds.Net to trick you out of your money. I ordered a CD-Rom drive from them and they sent my credit card information to UMG who nquietly charged my account 49.95 each month without my permission. This has been going on for 7 months without my knowledge. I think this amounts to something very illegal so I have called CNN's Clark Howard show as I promised Robbie in customer service at the Nerds.net.  I have also started an extensive email campaign to let everyone know what these theives are doing to hard working seniors like my self. I have opened a Twitter account to bring this problem to the front and will be filing a complaint with the Federal Trade commission.  I am retired and this will continue until they breturn my money or go out of business completely.  The people at UMG refujsed to give me my money back, and for my $400 I will fight until I pass away. I did not authorize the deduction and I will not quit until I get my money back.  I am on a fixed income and cannot afford this.  Thanks for saying what a number of people have already said on the rip off report. If we scream loud enough maybe he can join his hedge fund buddies in federal prison. I have considerabl documentation to support my case.

Hi all, I experienced the same - verify address, no risk, etc. then I got a packet in the mail. It was nice to review, but I could then see that we didn't need the services. (The service as shown in the packet is outlined here: http://www.saturdayholdings.com/MTS.htm)

I then called 1-888-673-1308 to cancel and was given another number, 1-866-576-1878 (18665761878). Called it up and got someone right away.
She said this was "Contact Message Systems" and was quite polite and straightforward. Canceled the account and credit to my bill at $49.95 with a confirmation number. No prob.

What i don't understand is why people verify their information with a unknown call and claim they have been scammed later on! You have the option of hanging up the phone. or getting unkown calls blocked by your phone company! The "do not call" list is a scam if  you ask me! People claim that are recording the call maybe u should have them  play  the tape back and listen to yourselves VOLUNTEER INFORMATION! IF YOU HAVEN"T FIGURED IT OUT I HAVE DONE TELE MARKETING FOR A MAJOR COMPANY AND THE PACKAGE WAS A BENEFIT! I NEVER SCAMMED ANYONE AND GOT POSTIVE FEEDBACK FROM CONSUMERS WHO WISH THEY WOULD HAVE ENROLLED SOONER BECAUSE IT SAVED THEM SO MUCH MONEY!

Ocenture, LLC does not market any services via outbound telemarketing nor do we own or manage call centers that provide sales of the Merchant Technical Solutions product.    Ocenture, LLC provides access to technology solutions for small business and individuals.     

The services Ocenture, LLC provides are:

"Merchant Services Protection Plan" from Legal Club of America (LCA), "Merchant Technical Solutions" and "Merchant Discount Health Plan", all operated by United Marketing Group (UMG), are "business partners" of Discover Network. (Discover Network administers merchant accounts for merchants who accept the Discover credit card from their customers.) Discover Network shares names and phone numbers of merchants with these operations, who then make unsolicited cold calls to the merchants from boiler-room call centers, to attempt to get the merchant to sign up for services. When the telemarketers call, they may even identify themselves as calling from Discover Network. There have been cases reported of merchants being billed -- as part of their normal billing from Discover Network, thus automatically debited from the merchant's bank account -- for services that were never authorized. If you are a merchant who accepts Discover cards, call the Discover Network Merchant Sevices Center at 1-800-347-2000 and tell them you don't want your information shared with any of their "business partners", to avoid these unsolicited calls. Check your Discover Network statements, and if you see you have been billed for services you didn't authorize, call Discover Network to get the contact info for the business partner and call them to cancel the service and insist upon a full refund (if you have more than 2 charges for the srvices, you may have to pursue this to higher levels at United Marketing Group, Schaumberg IL, 847-240-2005). Also contact your bank immediately, as you may be able to have charges returned to your account if you catch it quickly enough (30 to 60 days for a personal account and 2 days for a business account). If charges are refunded to you by the bank, Discover Network may put a hold on your merchant account, so be sure to explain the whole situation to their Merchant Sevices Center and ask that any hold be removed, after the bank has made the refund. Discover Network issues a "Do Not Call" notice for your phone number if you request it, but it may take up to a month to take effect, since the current month's list of Discover merchants is already circulating with the business partners.

Man called and asked for our shipping/receiving department, wanted to verify our address to ship technical information.  I inquired what sort of technical information--he said it was for any office or computer equipment we have here.  I told him we are not interested and not to send anything, then hung up the phone.

Got the same call as Kahala - Jun 13 2008 got.  They tell you that they are sending you information and just need to verify an address and that you are not agreeing to anything, they understand you are not the owner and not able to make business decisions.  Then they play a little recording that says if you do not cancel after the 30-day trial that your phone bill will be charged $49.95.  Beware!  I guess I'll just start hanging up on telemarketers.  I hate to be so rude, but this is ridiculous!
