Adding to my last comment, I just want to explain that your bank will not call you to ask for
personal information, because you already gave that to them, when you opened your account.
Calls like these are most likely scams, especially if you don't have an account with the
calling bank.  Caller ID's can be false, and using false caller ID's is illegal, as well.

Unless you made the call yourself, never give out personal information to anyone.
If you receive a call from a bank where you have an account, and asking for
personal information, refuse, explain, and return the call yourself at their actual
customer service number.

I regularly revisit posts and websites, as part of my own research
regarding a harassment problem involving my family and relatives.

Got a call from this number and she said it was Ally bank. Would not tell me why as she had to "confirm" who I was (soc sec digits). I dont trust calls like this and neither should you. I will call the bank to find out what the issue is but NEVER give out your info. I hung up on her.

Prank Call
Some phone calls appearing to be from Ally Bank could be scam phone calls.  It is posslble for people to use false caller ID,s to steal personal information.  In addition, Ally Bank usually blocks their caller ID when calling people, according to their customer service department.  Never give anyone your personal or account information, unless you made the call, yourself.

Prank Call
I have since done some research, and I was able to find  that it is possible for scammers to use false caller ID's, in order to steal personal information.   Although it now appears my original comments, posted in 2009, now appear correct, I still should have researched this number first, before posting any comments.  I also cannot explain why I visited this web page more than a year after placing my original comments in 2009 and 2010.

Legitimate banks will not call you to request personal information.  If you receive such a call, do NOT give such information, then contact your financial institition.  Remember, your bank already has your personal information you gave them, when opening your account.   In addition you should not give telemarketers your personal information, unless you made the call, yourself.  Good luck.

This is getting interesting.

thanks Wendyree for identifying this caller as my caller id isn't working right now it is not showing the business name. I use this site frequently to look up who an unknown caller is so I can figure out if it important or not. It helps me with personal and business harrassement. In this case I did open an Ally Bank account so I now I know I need to call them tomorrow regarding my new account that I am working right now to set up. Thank you so much! Have a wonderful day!

They said it was ALLY Bank but I have never received a call from any of my banks asking ME for information.  Not gonna' happen!  Hard to believe it is really ALLY but they said it was.  I politely declined and hung up.

This isn't someone pretending to be Ally bank - it is Ally Bank. The number is posted on their homepage.  I was contacted by them for a legitimate reason regarding my account.

This person called and made me agree to having our call recorded. Plus she stated that she would not tell me why she was calling until I agreed to tell her what my security question & answer were.

I hung up.

Got a call from this number at 8:25 P.M. December 16, 2010.  Caller did not leave a message.  Internet search indicates the call was from Ally Bank.  I do not have an account with them.

I am on the DO NOT CALL LIST which means I object to calls from telemarketers, including banks.

Ally Bank needs to read and respect the DO NOT CALL LIST!

If this will help, I have no objection
to my erroneous comments, placed here
on this website concerning Ally Bank,
to be removed.   Ally Bank is not in the
business of making crank calls, and I am
still a satisfied customer, who made a big
mistake, here.

The problem here, is I have been having real problems with
nuisance phone calls.  What happened here, is that I posted
a comment, without first researching the phone number.

I am in fact, a new customer of Ally Bank.
This was a mistake on my part.  For this
reason, I will apoligize, for this incident again to
Shirley Lerner, Lorraine Castleman and Ally Bank.

You can be sure I will be more careful in handling
my incoming calls, crank calls or otherwise.

I also wish to call all of your attention to my
previous apologies, as well.

The previous comment I posted, regarding this phone number,
was posted twice in error. It was not a nuisance phone call, as I
suspected.

My specific apologies go to my two sisters,
Lorraine R. Castleman and Shirley M. Lerner.

This mistake resulted from the fact I have been receiving
many nuisance phone calls that are family related,
resulting in me assuming all calls received, without messages,
are nuisance phone calls.  I was wrong this time.

This was, in fact, a legitimate business call.
