Not a phone call but a letter, saying "redeem this check by 8/6/13" (which is also today's date). The letter head says "Fly the US Skies" and supposedly it's from Port Orange, FL 32128. In the shredder it goes!

Same letter arrived today with an expiration date of 7/22/2013. Redeem the "check" which is not a check, since there is no valid routing and transit number appearing anywhere on it, for 2 round trip airfares. Call right away!! Yeah, sure I will.  Fly the US skies? USA Airlines? Close, but doesn't pass the sniff test.
Also, there's a bunch of fine print on the back which is too small too read, even with glasses, and appears all broken as if running out of ink. I, too, live in coastal Maine, but I don''t think this is a local mailing. Everyone here knows we're all poor or struggling!

Got a letter from "Fly The Skies" with a "check" telling me about how I could redeem their "check" for $1,199.00 worth of air travel tickets, but I had call 877-248-1520 "right away".  I got the letter on June 28, 2013, and I had to respond by July 8th, 2013, or the check would be "transferred to the alternate".  Needless to say, this had "scam" written all over it, and I decided to research this before I called the number.  I live in Warren, ME, and it looks like the Tradewinds Motel in Rockland is trying to sell timeshares.  No idea how they got my number, as I don't sign up for "freebies", but in looking at this site, it seems like many people in Midcoast Maine are getting targeted.

The same letter with confirmation #4759 came here today. A business with no address on the letterhead? We're not taking the bait. Seems too shady from the start.

Same letter, zip, number, signer, etc. ad infinitum.  Work for the State.  Will be providing the AG's office with a PDF of the letter and envelope tomorrow at the e-mail address provided.

This is how they get you to visit a new RCA or Interval International timeshare and buy a week or two.  The tickets are real.  I never provide any information at a fair, but I think they are targeting names and addresses on the real estate tax rolls published online by our cities/towns.  Sad that information is made public.  No privacy any more.

Woolwich Maine, I too received a letter and conformation *4759 From a Mark Sims,Vice President, Travel Awards Division, and I must respond by 14 Nov 2012. The letter Talked about calling 7 times and no response. Air fair worth 1,499.000 some restrictions apply. posted here and chucked the mail.

Same letter as everyone else same confirmation number and everything else.  I am from North Haven, Maine. In small print on the back it says you have to sit through a 90 minute presentation for Vacation Ownership. Never received a call that I know of, but we don't answer telemarketing calls anyway.

Same letter here.  Topsham, ME.  confirmation 4759, probably related to a raffle I signed up for at the Topsham fair based on the previous comments.

What do you suppose we all have in common other than we all live in Maine?  Is it just random or are we all on the same list that we unknowingly signed up for? Some unscrupulous business or charity has sold our info to a telemarketer. Be extra careful in who you give your info to.

I just received my letter, same everything.  Recycled.  In Bangor.

No phone call but letter in plain envelope, and contents like that of others here, came to Brooklin, Maine with "You must respond no later than November 14th, 2012". Thank you to everyone for registering your doubts here. We've been suckered into this type of scam -- timeshare hard sell -- elsewhere in the U.S. and learned our lesson. Don't bother!

I got the same letter, same confirmation number, same message..  The envelope was handwritten with no return address sent from Toledo, Ohio.  Response deadline 11/14/2012.

You got your letter through the mail? They offered a free trip for you by sending a letter. A free trip to where? A boiler room?

I got my letter today with the same confirmation number. They must be giving away a lot of trips!

I suggest that anyone who got this letter, contact the Consumer Affairs division, STATE OF MAINE, which is a branch of the MAINE ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE at 207-626-8849.  They are open to take calls only from 9-12 noon, M-F and you should send them an e-mail to the following e-mail address about this SCAM to help protect others, including yourself and cause the AG to go after this SCAMMERS.  WIthout proof of the SCAM, they can't do anything, which means you have to provide the proof, such as the letters.  The E-mail address is: consumer.mediation@maine.gov.  This is the info given to me by the MAINE AG's office when you call, as they will refer you to how to go about to address this.  I suggest we should all BAN together and work together to put this company out of business.  You can reach me at my home phone at 207-350-4149 and you can e-mail me at wacholtzted@hotmail.com.  Good luck....

BTW, my wife got the same letter yesterday, 10/24 and as all can see, it is being sent all over MAINE.  The letter is a 'FORM LETTER' and the fact it has the same CONFIRMATION NUMBER, is what makes it a SCAM as one part and the goal, although the AIR FARE may be real, the only goal is to get people there to put pressure on them to buy a TIME-SHARE, PERIOD....

We can work together to get this company shut down if folks are willing....

I received the same exact letter with a response deadline of Nov 5, 2012. Shady right from the getgo. I looked up the zipcode it came from on the envelope (43601--Toledo, OH). Recycled it! I'm in Midocoast Maine area.

Theres a big difference between winning and QUALIFYING to win like you say the letter stated.

Got the same letter yesterday...lucky me...I feel so special ! Same confirmation number and all. Made me run right over to my ....computer to check it out..chuckling all the way. Who are these people and how dumb do they think folks are ?...don't answer that question. Just be happy there is a place to go to check these things out. We are a bunch of cautious but fun loving folks willing to debunk anyone who tries to take advantage of us! Take that Mark Sims whoever you are!

Same letter, same conf #. I'm with the respond by Nov. 5 group. Don't know if ever called cause I ignore the phone a lot if it doesn't have one of my pre-set rings so I know who is calling. Must not be having much luck selling their time shares. Thanks to everyone else who helps us all realize - if it sounds too good to be true.....

We received this letter today. Must respond by Nov 5th.  I wouldn't call the number people... they obviously are trying to get people by phone so they can use their slick sales techniques.. nothing is for free, remember that.. (Maine)

No Phone call ever but did get the same letter as everyone else, tradewinds on the bay, hmmm if it's such a great deal and place to see for a time share...why do they have to use a marketing agency that mails from Toledo Ohio zip code 43601? and why do we all have the same confirmation code. My expiration date was for October 31st 2012. they would probably have better odds of someone buying if every body showed up on same day, better to have 1 in a million than none, lol

Same in Blue Hill.  Same confirmation # - 4759.  My deadline to respond is October 31.  Not really a scam but certainly misleading.  Creative marketing?

I think this came from a raffle to win an ATV at the Union Fair.  I started getting calls shortly thereafter, and now the letter.  I assume they call everyone who put a raffle ticket in.
