Unacceptable.  If UCSF has hired this company, they do not deserve to have their bills paid.

I too received a call from this phone number, an automated call identifying the caller as UCSF financial services, and when I called back, the outgoing message gave a different number and no information about what office I had reached.  Called UCSF patient financial services at the phone number on the ucsf website, and left annoyed message.

I also received a voicemail from 877-257-1197 claiming to be "Joseph" a rep for UCSF Financial Services and was asked to call back 866-633-9742, which I tried to return only to be disconnected before speaking to anyone.  I then tried the Billing Service of UCSF and found out that I did not have any outstanding balance with them.  I then tried both the number that the caller left and the one he called from only to find out that my area was outside their service area.  Beware:  It does not seem to be a legitimate company.  

I just spent 20 minutes on hold to UCSF, and they verified that their 3rd party debt collector's number is 877-257-1197.  Therefore, it appears they are legit.

Got a call from this number claiming it was UCSF Financial Services.

Caller asked to speak to me, but did not identify themselves. I responded saying "who is this". They told me, then I told them that I was the person they were looking for. Said they were responding to a request I had made about getting a bill (which I probably at some point did make a request because I am a UCSF patient?). They asked me for my date of birth and address and I said "wait a second, you are calling ME and you are asking me for MY personal info - no way". I did not give them the info. Terry, the agent on the line responded saying I can call them back at that number and gave me my account number.

I then called the REAL UCSF number at 415-353-3700 and they said there was no Terry there and that they dont have a 1-877 number.

I'm only finding two ucsf financial services listings. One for student loans and one for a hospital, non seem to match the numbers here or in the post above..

I've received a voicemail today from this number as well 877-257-1197, asking me to call back and claiming as UCSF Financial Services. It is really odd and not sure If this is legit in anyway. Anybody have any same experience or thoughts on this? Thanks!

I'm not sure if their call was legitimate, but I received the same voice mail. You can contact UCSF to discuss it at 1-415-353-3700.

Left a message stating they are calling from UCSF Financial Services. I was a patientat UCSF hospital so I thought it was legit.  Reading online that if you call this number back, you will be charged $20.
