SOOPER C.U Call 1-877-268-7214 To Find Out why your debit/ATM card card was blocked. It's obviously a scam. I called the number to swear at them, but it had been shut down already.

I also received, at around 2:50 pm Pacific, a text message stating:
SOOPER C.U. Call 1-877-268-7214 To find out why your debit/ATM card (419457000XXXXXXX) was blocked.
At first I just thought it was a wrong number, since i have no account at that credit union, but obviously there is more going on!

Hey All,
I got this same text message.
Being of sound mind I knew no legit bank in the world would attempt to contact you via cell phone text messages. Furthermore, I did not/do not bank or have any business with Sooper CU.
I called the number on a blocked line out of curiosity and was prompted with a female voice asking for personal information (card number/exp date/security code) in order to "reactivate my card". I hit 8 or 9 random garbage numbers and a recorded stern male voice with an accent came on and said "THAT IS NOT CORRECT!!" and it asked again for the information. This time I typed 16 random garbage numbers that started with a 1 haha, a fake exp date, and a fake security code... then it said, in the female voice, "Thank you! Please call customer service to reactivate your card" and hung up.
As Eric posted, it is a simple phishing scam.
You can contact Sooper CU phishing investigation dept by email at phishing@soopercu.org, forward them all the details of what the text message said, and for god sakes please don't enter any personal info into it!!
I have had this same scam attempted a second time on me with another bank name as well. You can usually Google the bank name and get the contact information to tell the bank whats going on, the more phishing reports they get the better.

Same text message on my cell. Same phone number. Same debit/ATM card number. Scam, indeed.

text from 8772687214@soopercu.org, text says sooper c.u. Call 1-877-268-7214 To find out why your debit/ATM card (419457000xxxxxxx) was blocked.
This is a scam. when you call they ask for you to enter your personal info and then they steal it. One of the most cowardly means of theft.

I got the exact same text message for sooper c.u. and the same debit card number which does not match any of my debit/credit cards. I dialed the number twice from my landline phone and got a message that the number has been disconnected or is no longer in service. I googled the company name and what looked like a website with no info found. Then did this reverse number search.

Received a text message stating:
SOOPER C.U. Call 1-877-268-7214 To find out why your debit/ATM card (419457000XXXXXXX) was blocked.
This appears to be a phishing scam, there's a notice on the Sooper CU website at http://soopercu.org
