I received a text message asking me to call back this number for a job I supposedly applied for..... Except I never applied for a registration assistant job. The text said it was from the Career Network.

I received a text today from this careernetwork. She said she was pre-qualifying me for a position I applied for. I did indeed apply for a position however thought it very strange for an employer to do business that way and I actually told her I was unfamiluar with this method of screening. I didn't want to be to cautious just in case it wasn't a scam. She asked a few generic questions then wanted to know why I only had my Assocates Degree and would I ever consider going on and get more education. After she talked a minute it became clear she was more interested in arranging "funding" for my continued education. Since I didn't give her anything other than my name and e-mail address I'am not too worried. I'll just have her blocked.

I usually look at several local job sites when searching for jobs in my area, but occasionally I will look at Indeed.com & narrow my search to the particular city I am seeking a job in (which is a small city) and most jobs are listed directly by the employer/company where it then directs me to their own website.  I feel comfortable giving out my info and resume to company sites that I know are legit and I've heard of  before or I can at least view their website & career page.  ANYWAY- I was on Indeed last night and saw a job listing for an Assistant Graphic Artist in my area and clicked on it to find out more information.  Well, it came up with the page that said J Armel and had a form for me to fill out and attach my resume.  I have never gone through an employment/recruiting company (I always send my resume directly to the company that posting the job) but I was going to give it a try since a lot of companies are going using employment/recruiting companies to help them out in the beginning process.  SO this morning I got the same text you all have been getting.  Right away I searched the website Johnson & Armel- it seemed a little sketchy like anyone could have set up that website.  When I looked at the jobs they have listed on their site, the job I had applied for in my city was not even listed on their website (and there's 50 pages of jobs)!!  SO I texted STOP b/c obviously this is just a scam or something among those lines, if the job that I applied for doesn't even exist on their site and they are texting me to call them for a set up interview.  Of what I've heard when it comes to employment/recruiting companies, they are the middle man between you (job seeker) and company (employee seeker) where they help weed out the applicants who aren't qualified for the job position, do the basic background & interview section and then pass the potential interviewees info to the company to start the process of hiring. Not to text you to call them at this number- they should be calling you to talk about the position you are interested in!  Sorry I've written a book but I am so frustrated when it comes to job scams or people who are simply using our info to sell to others.  SCAM!!!!  Never using sites like that again!

mine came to my iphone from 415-69 as "apptree: hi..." and the return number is 888-474-8010. at the same time I got an email with an equally fishy "perfect position for you" from jobnab.com, which i have never used and hear is a scam site. needless to say, i unsubscribed. from now on i will only be applying to jobs online where i can send my info directly to the employer. what a waste of time.

Ive received texts like these about 5 times. I finally sent them a "stop" and then a text came back that I have to text the word "stop" + the keyword. Then it mentions something about data rates and what not.I have no clue what the so-called keyword is. Hoping it stops, or else I will have to find another option. I dont think this is anything legit at all. Why not use my email address to make contact? Or call? Super creepy....

I just got this text message this morning "johnsonarmel: Hi Meaghan, call me about the Clerical File Clerk Job you have applied for 877-284-7071. (txt STOP to cancel)".

I don't know about any of you but for one if this is legit, them sending me a text message from a number (415-69) and having an option to cancel them - is a red flag to me.  And two I've never heard of an employer sending out random mass texts to different people.

By reading the responses we all applied to different jobs - don't you think the people we applied to would be contacting us to get a hold of them?  Not Career Network or Armel Johnson?

As much as I need a job where I'm moving to, I'm too leary to call this number back.  I'll keep looking!

Hello Guys,
Yes I received a text from Career Network as well about a job that I had applied for. I called back on my break and was asked if I have 40 minutes to go over the process...of course I didn't at the time. So I waited til I got off my partime job to call while sitting in the car. The guy specifically asked me was I in my car...made me feel creepy that he knew I was out and about.....so I said yes...then he said..well just give us a call back when you get home in front of your computer. I what is this about, if you need me to verify some information, I can do that now. Why is it so important that I be in front of my computer. Then he said, well we need to verify the information you sent us.  I'm thinking to myself...I know what I sent u and if all I had to do was ask questions I can do that here.....so after reading all of these responses make me think that it may not be a scam...but it's definitely not all that legit. Career Network must be going in a new direction of keeping peoples information.....for what I don't know...maybe it's some way they get paid for the more people you add or something...who knows....either way...it's not the proper way of being interviewed for a job.  The funny thing is....the guy called me but every time we spoke, I felt like I was being rushed off the phone...especially when I started asking probing questions. Hope this helps anyone else that receive a call or text from this number.

*Looking over all these post I believe this is a scam to get personal information from you. No employer will leave a text message to get a hold of an person.*

I had received a call about one particular job that I had applied for. The other person on the line wanted to make sure that my information was correct. They didn't tell me anything about the job. Other than the interview was suppose to last between 5 to 25 minutes long!?
